Chapter 17: Can I hold your hand? (1/2)

Jiang Wentao was upset, and even more annoyed when he heard Zhao Hong's question, "Why do you keep harping on this one thing?"

That means nothing was said.

Zhao Hong said unhappily, "When is the meeting scheduled for the parents of both parties? I may not be available."

"You don't need to go. Her aunt and I can go."

After saying that, Jiang Wentao wanted to go back to his room to calm down.

Zhao Hong sneered at Jiang Wentao's back, "Those who said Jiang Yining was sensible must have been deceived by her. They even said outside that I treated her badly, but she didn't even take me, her stepmother, seriously!"

"Mom, keep your voice down."

Zhao Jiajia came out of Jiang Yiyang's room and said, "Yangyang just fell asleep."

She also didn't like Jiang Yining. "It's better not to go, so as not to get any reward for nothing."

"What do you know? If I don't go, I won't know how much the betrothal gift is."

Zhao Jiajia said disdainfully, "Jiang Yining is so noble that she would rather not have a man who could give her a house in the city center than a man whose parents are teachers."

"How well-off can their family be? At best, they're just an ordinary, well-off family. How much do they expect from the man's family as a betrothal gift?"

She advised Zhao Hong, "Mom, I think you should stop interfering, lest Jiang Yining tease you outside again."

"Everyone in the neighborhood knows about what happened last time. From time to time, people ask me to go home and persuade you to be nicer to Jiang Yining."

Talking about this, Zhao Jiajia was filled with anger. "I have never experienced such humiliation in my life. Everyone thought it was us, mother and daughter, who bullied her."

Zhao Hong cursed inwardly.

She had been secretly competing with Jiang Yining for several years, and she knew very well that this girl looked docile but was actually full of evil intentions and was not someone who was easy to deal with.

......

On the day when the families of both sides met, He Chi booked a large private room in a five-star hotel in Lincheng. He and Jiang Yining were waiting for people downstairs in the hotel.

Jiang Yufang was stunned when she heard that Jiang Yining was getting married.

A few days ago, I asked her to introduce a boy to my niece. Just as she found a partner, she received a call from her younger brother.

She still hadn't reacted. In the car, she asked Jiang Wentao, "Wentao, have you ever met Ningning's marriage partner before?"

"She said he was the son of her high school teacher. I remember her teacher's last name was Lin."

Jiang Wentao recalled the past, "When Ningning was in her senior year of high school, her mother was in the hospital for treatment. Her grades dropped for a while. It was thanks to Teacher Lin's special care and concern that Ningning was able to get into a key university."

"Both parents are teachers, so the son they raise won't be too bad."

"That's not necessarily true..." Jiang Yufang thought for a moment and added, "But I believe in Ningning's judgment."

"This child, why didn't she tell her family in advance?"

The taxi slowly stopped outside the hotel, and Jiang Yufang was anxious to find Jiang Yining.

When Jiang Yufang saw He Chi and Jiang Yining, she exclaimed, "I saw him. He's really handsome. No wonder our Ningning likes him."

He Chi wore a dark grey shirt today with his sleeves slightly rolled up, paired with black trousers, and a watch, exuding a noble and profound temperament.

Jiang Yining next to him was wearing a new Chinese-style dress with light green embroidery. The two of them looked quite pleasing to the eye standing together.

When Jiang Yufang got out of the car, she saw her tall niece standing next to her future niece-in-law, and her height was just up to his chin.

Seeing them, He Chi walked forward with Jiang Yining, "Uncle Jiang, Aunt Jiang, hello, I'm He Chi."

Jiang Yufang was still worried when she didn't see He Chi, but now her eyes lit up and her face was full of smiles. "Hello, your parents are here, right?"

"Yes, they are waiting for us in the box."

Jiang Yining stood nearby and called out, "Dad, aunt."

Jiang Wentao was a little angry that Jiang Yining didn't take him as her father seriously, but when he thought about how he had neglected her over the years, the anger in his heart instantly dissipated when he saw Jiang Yining.
