She didn't know how to comfort him, afraid that saying too much would seem like overdoing it.
After thinking for a while, Jiang Yining said, "Your mother cares about you very much."
Speaking of her mother, Wang Zhiyao pursed her lips and suddenly said, "My mother asked me, if she divorces my father, should I stay with her or with my father?"
Jiang Yining thought of what Wang Zhiyao's mother said when she was on the phone in the room. If she heard correctly, it meant that Wang Zhiyao's father had cheated on her first and probably had a new family.
Sure enough, Wang Zhiyao's next words were, "I just found out yesterday that my dad has another child. I'm not his only child anymore. He doesn't want my mom, and he doesn't want me either."
Jiang Yining hesitated whether to ask.
Wang Zhiyao looked up at her, "Teacher Jiang, are you wondering why my mom asked me if I wanted to live with my dad?"
Jiang Yining did not deny it. She hummed, "Because I think your mother loves you very much. In this situation, she would not let you live with your father."
"Because my mother is worried that she won't get half of the family property, she's afraid that she won't be able to find a job in the future, and she's afraid that I'll suffer if I follow her."
Jiang Yining looked at the stubborn and sensible child in front of him, and tears welled up in his eyes when he said this.
Her appearance reminded Jiang Yining of her past self. Her mother was seriously ill in bed, and she could do nothing. She could not suffer for her mother, nor could she share the financial pressure of the family.
She was trapped in helplessness and confusion. When it was late at night and everyone was asleep, she felt depressed and felt that life had lost hope.
Jiang Yining understood her feelings even better.
Wang Zhiyao is still young, a child of twelve or thirteen, and she has to accept that her father does not love her. The originally complete family of three now has her parents going to court.
She stepped forward, hugged Wang Zhiyao, and asked her, "You probably want to live with your mother, so why are you still struggling?"
Wang Zhiyao suddenly told her all this, probably because she had something on her mind that she couldn't decide. She couldn't tell anyone close to her, so she could only speak her mind to her teacher.
She lowered her eyelashes and said in a very calm voice, "I'm afraid I will become a burden to my mother."
Jiang Yining pondered for a moment and said, "Zhiyao, you will never be a burden to your mother. She loves you more than anything else."
"Actually, your mother needs you too now."
Wang Zhiyao suddenly raised her head and met Jiang Yining's gaze, as if she really wanted her to continue.
Jiang Yining said slowly, "She has sacrificed a lot for your family and left the workplace for more than ten years. Now she suddenly wants a divorce and is looking for a new job."
"It was very difficult for her to take even one step."
"You need to be with her at this time and encourage her."
Wang Zhiyao asked, "Then what should I do?"
"Live a good life." Jiang Yining explained to her, "Your mother is most worried that the divorce will affect you."
"You have to let her know that whether she divorces or not, you can still live like before. Your life will not be affected by the divorce."
Jiang Yining's voice was gentle but firm, "Zhiyao, your life will only get better from now on."
Wang Zhiyao's eyes sparkled. She looked up at Jiang Yining. After a long moment, a smile appeared on her face. She said, "I understand. Thank you, Teacher Jiang."
Jiang Yining smiled at her and said, "You're welcome. If you have any questions in the future, you can tell the teacher. Don't do it like last time. Your mother will be very worried about you."
Wang Zhiyao hummed, "No, I'll go back to school tomorrow. Teacher Jiang, see you tomorrow."
"Okay, see you tomorrow." This chapter has been read (please click on the next chapter to continue reading!)
