Fan Peihua raised his hand and touched her hair. "My daughter is already 28 in the blink of an eye. I still remember you were just a tiny ball when you were born."
She said with relief, "Your father and I have left enough money for retirement, so you don't have to worry about this problem."
"Qiaoqiao, your parents can only carry you up to this point. You have to walk the rest of the way on your own."
Fan Peihua looked at her and said, "Don't be angry with your father. He has been very good to us mother and daughter over the years. This is the only thing that has wronged me."
Zhang Qiao nodded, and looked at the two bank cards in her hand, her eyes turning red.
"Mom, you should retire. Housekeeping is hard work."
Fan Peihua was unwilling to do so. "The owners of Yuhubancheng are all very easy to talk to. I quite enjoy it. After work, I chat with my colleagues. It's eight hours a day. I can't believe how satisfied I am with this job."
She knew her daughter felt sorry for her.
Fan Peihua smiled and said, "When you make 10 million, I will definitely retire and go traveling like your Aunt Sun."
Zhang Qiao smiled and nodded, "Mom, my studio is developing very well now. Give me a few years and I will definitely be able to do it."
Fan Peihua thought for a moment and said, "If I hadn't seen that your studio distributes so much dividends every year, to be honest, Qiaoqiao, your father and I would not agree with your and Song Xingjin's decision."
In the living room, the two men seemed awkward and unfamiliar. Song Xingjin was always a man of few words and didn't know how to find topics to talk about.
Before coming, Song Xingjin found He Chi and asked him how to get along with his parents-in-law. He said that he had no father-in-law, only a mother-in-law, but she was no longer alive.
There was no other way, so he went to ask Chen Feng.
Chen Feng said that because he and his wife had divorced once, his father-in-law had always disliked him.
They are all so unreliable.
Seeing that Zhang's father's teacup was empty, Song Xingjin stood up and poured him some tea. "Uncle, have some tea."
Father Zhang took a sip of his teacup, coughed, and then spoke, "Well...our Qiaoqiao doesn't want to get married now, but what if she changes her mind in the future?"
Song Xingjin said honestly, "Uncle, it doesn't matter to me whether we get married or not. I only care about Qiaoqiao. As long as she changes her mind, I will arrange the wedding immediately."
Zhang's father nodded in satisfaction and asked, "Do you plan to have children?"
"We don't have this plan at the moment, but we don't rule out changing our mind in the future."
Zhang's father frowned and said, "You are both financially well off, so it would be better for you to have a child."
Song Xingjin said calmly, "I understand. I will seriously consider your suggestion, but what's important is Qiaoqiao's opinion."
Zhang's father nodded, "You can decide the rest by yourselves, but one thing is for sure: you can't use your family background to bully my Qiaoqiao."
Song Xingjin assured him, "Uncle, please rest assured, this will never happen."
Before going back, Zhang Qiao took Song Xingjin for a stroll around the community, taking a walk, chatting, and greeting old acquaintances when they saw them.
Zhang Qiao looked up at her balcony. The lights in her living room were still on.
She took Song Xingjin's hand, interlocked their fingers, and looked up at him.
In the dim light, the contours of Song Xingjin's face appeared even deeper, giving him a calm and dignified look.
Zhang Qiao said, "Song Xingjin, I don't know if I will still insist on not getting married in a few years, but I promise that as long as you don't let me down, my love for you will never change."
Under the night sky, Song Xingjin smiled gently.
"Qiaoqiao, for you and me, getting married or not is just a choice. It doesn't prevent us from loving each other, nor does it affect our happiness."
Before meeting Zhang Qiao, Song Xingjin had already made plans to live a lonely life.
The world is big and meeting someone is not easy. Song Xingjin is very glad that he did not miss Zhang Qiao.
Compared to the regret of missing her, everything else seems so insignificant. This chapter has been read (please click on the next chapter to continue reading!)
