Chapter 36 Angry
Jiang Yining didn't dare to answer He Chi's call now.
She knew that He Chi was very perceptive. If He Chi heard her voice now, he would know that she was in a bad mood.
He Chi originally thought that Jiang Yining was at home, so he took a long walk on his way home and bought Jiang Yining's favorite desserts.
The house was dark and silent. He went to the master bedroom and didn't see Jiang Yining. Only He Xiaohui was lazily lying on the sofa in the living room.
The house was like this before they got married. He didn't think it was a big deal before, but after Jiang Yining moved in, He Chi felt that the house had a breath of life.
The moment he returned home, He Chi had an illusion that his home had become the same as before, and he was really a little uncomfortable.
No one answered the phone. He Chi frowned and was about to call again when he received a WeChat message from Jiang Yining.
Yining: [I'm at Qiaoqiao's house, no need to wait for me to eat.]
He Chi asked: [What time will you be back? I'll pick you up.]
Jiang Yining quickly replied: [I don't know when I'll be back yet. No need for you to pick me up. I'll take a taxi back myself.]
When He Chi saw the words "You don't have to answer", he couldn't help but frowned. He wanted to say something, but was worried that Jiang Yining would think he was meddling too much and taking away her freedom, so he gave up.
Jiang Yining was not at home, and He Chi was too lazy to ask his aunt to come and cook. He put the desserts he bought in the refrigerator, and then found some instant noodles.
As soon as He Chi sat down at the dining table, He Xiaohui dragged his cat bowl over and placed it at his feet.
He Chi clicked his tongue, "I'll eat instant noodles tonight, and you lose weight."
He Xiaohui meowed a few times in protest. He Chi was afraid that it would go to Jiang Yining to complain again, so he had to get up and find cat food for it. The man and the cat had a simple dinner.
Jiang Yining didn't want to go back for the time being. Zhang Qiao looked at her pitiful appearance and couldn't help laughing, "Is this all you can do?"
"You're acting like a coward."
Jiang Yining didn't deny it and asked her, "Do you want to order takeout?"
Zhang Qiao took out her phone and asked, "What do you want to eat?"
"Fried chicken, grilled skewers, mousse cake, and a beer."
Zhang Qiao met her request, "Let me make it clear first, if you have diarrhea tomorrow, you can't blame me."
Jiang Yining half-lay down and stared at the ceiling for a while. After Zhang Qiao finished ordering takeout, she sighed, "It's great that there is still a tortoise shell that belongs to me in this world."
Zhang Qiao slapped her on the butt. "How long do you plan to stay here with me? Are you coming back tonight?"
Jiang Yining closed his eyes and said, "Yes, I want to go back and ask clearly."
But before that, she wanted to be quiet for a while. When she was on the bus, she wanted to find a place to be alone for a while. After thinking for a long time, she finally came back here.
"I'm not petty. If He Chi had sent someone else, I wouldn't mind, but this person can't be Zhao Jiajia."
Jiang Yining said again, "I hate them."
After the takeaway arrived, Jiang Yining drank half a bottle of beer. When she wanted to drink more, Zhang Qiao held her back.
Zhang Qiao saw that Jiang Yining's cheeks were already red, and knew that she couldn't drink much. If she drank again, she would not be able to go home alone that night.
Jiang Yining was not drunk, but she tended to blush after drinking.
She looked at Zhang Qiao and said, "Qiaoqiao, I envy you so much. You have Uncle Zhang and Aunt Fan to love you."
"If my mother were still alive, I would have someone who loved me and would not be bullied by Zhao Hong and her daughter. Why did my mother leave me so early?" Jiang Yining sobbed softly.
As Zhang Qiao was wiping her tears, she heard Jiang Yining ask, "Do you think I'll end up like my mom and the others?"
"What?" Zhang Qiao didn't understand what she said.
Jiang Yining sniffed, "My aunt said that my grandparents were not in good health. They didn't live to be sixty. My grandfather and my mother both died of cancer. My uncle is now..."
Zhang Qiao said firmly, "No, don't let your imagination run wild."
She was panicked when she heard what Jiang Yining said. Her mother had told her this before, but she was afraid that Jiang Yining would worry, so she didn't dare to mention it in front of Jiang Yining.
Jiang Yining is a heavy-hearted person, worrying too much and consuming too much stress, but Zhang Qiao can understand her. Her mother is not around, her father doesn't love her, and if she doesn't think more about herself, she will really be treated like a blood bag.
She took a tissue and gently wiped Jiang Yining's tears. "Okay, little crybaby, your eyes will get swollen if you cry any more."
Thinking that she had to go home later, Jiang Yining stopped crying and said, "Can I have another drink? Just one."
Zhang Qiao felt soft-hearted but only poured her half a cup. "The last half. If you drink any more, I'll have to force you to stay here overnight."
Jiang Yining stayed at Zhang Qiao's place until almost half past twelve in the morning. Before leaving, he went to the bathroom to wash his face and looked carefully at her eyes. He waited until it was no longer obvious that she had been crying before he was willing to go back.
Halfway through the journey, a muffled thunder sounded in the night sky. Jiang Yining was worried that it would rain when he got home, so he lowered his head and rummaged through his bag, but he didn't bring an umbrella.
Zhang Qiao sent her a message: "Ningning, it looks like it's going to rain soon. Do you have an umbrella?"
Jiang Yining: [No.]
It shouldn't be that unlucky.
Zhang Qiao: [If it rains when you get home, ask He Chi to come pick you up.]
It’s so late, I don’t know if He Chi is asleep.
Jiang Yining replied to Zhang Qiao and put the phone away. As soon as he looked up, the summer night rain began to fall heavily, and the raindrops left several rain marks on the car window.
The car stopped at the gate of Yuhubancheng. Jiang Yining held the bag in her arms and rushed in as fast as she could after getting out of the car.
When he arrived at the door of his house, Jiang Yining raised his hand to wipe the rain off his face. His hands were too wet, and he pressed the fingerprint lock three times but failed to open the door successfully.
The door was opened by He Chi from the inside. Facing the man's slightly cold gaze, Jiang Yining was instantly at a loss, "You...are you still not asleep?"
He Chi's cold and sharp black eyes looked at Jiang Yining. She was soaked, her hair was still dripping with water, her long eyelashes fluttered up and down, and she looked at him at a loss.
He stepped aside to let Jiang Yining in and asked her, "Why didn't you let me pick you up? Why didn't you call me when you came back in the rain?"
Jiang Yining bit her lip and said, "I thought you were asleep."
She heard He Chi's cold tone and knew he was angry. She originally wanted to ask him about Zhao Jiajia, but had to put it aside for the time being.
He Chi sighed helplessly, "Go take a shower first, then drink ginger soup after you finish."
Jiang Yining said "oh", glanced at He Chi's back, and walked towards the master bedroom.
He Chi had never cooked ginger soup before, so he had to look for tutorials online. After cooking the first pot, he tasted it and found it so unpalatable that he had to throw it away and cook it again.
Jiang Yining was worried that He Chi would have to wait for a long time, so she sped up. After drying her hair, she saw He Chi still in the kitchen.
He Chi took out a bowl from the pot. The food in the pot was quite drinkable.
The two sat face to face. Jiang Yining lowered her head to drink the ginger soup. It was a bit unpalatable. She held her breath, tried not to smell the taste, and swallowed it in one gulp.
He Chi looked at her quietly for a while. When he was angry, he exuded a cold aura. Jiang Yining could feel it even across the dining table.
