Chapter 62: Other Agenda
As soon as she said this, everyone at the table looked at her expectantly.
Even He Chi paused. He and Jiang Yining knew it was just because they had eaten too much seafood before.
If he denied it too directly, He Chi was worried that they would become suspicious.
After thinking for a moment, he said, "It shouldn't be. It hasn't even been a month since we got married. Even if she's pregnant, she wouldn't show any signs that quickly."
Teacher Lin thought about it and felt that He Chi was right.
"Yining, are you feeling sick in the stomach?"
Jiang Yining said embarrassedly, "Mom, it might be because He Chi and I went to a seafood buffet a few days ago and ate too much at once. Now I feel uncomfortable when I smell the food."
I see.
The family members are definitely looking forward to having children, but this expectation may become a pressure for the young couple.
Lin Shu thought about this and said, "It doesn't matter if you're not pregnant. You've only been married for a short time and you're not ready to be parents yet. You must not rush this matter."
Jiang Yining glanced at He Chi secretly.
Seeing that he was dealing with it calmly, he said, "I know. I will pay attention."
Jiang Yining: “…”
What is he paying attention to?
After this little episode, the family finished their lunch chatting and laughing.
At the dinner table, He Qingwen mentioned her son, He Chi's cousin, who is now abroad handling the family's overseas business and has not been back for almost two years.
Perhaps seeing her eldest brother and his family of four gathered together, He Qingwen missed her son, so she called him after lunch.
He Chi also received a call, saying that he had to go to the bar for something and would probably not be back until the evening.
Jiang Yining got up early today and went back to his room to take a nap after lunch.
As soon as He Chi arrived at the bar, Chen Ran ran over and asked with a grin, "Brother Chi, when are you planning on bringing Sister Yining over to play?"
He Chi glanced at him, walked straight past him, and said nonchalantly, "Your enthusiasm makes me think you have other intentions."
Chen Ran was anxious. "What can I expect? Don't you read the messages in the group? My brother and Jin Zhou are asking you."
There has been a lot of noise in the group these days, so He Chi simply blocked the messages and kept his mind at peace.
He took out his cell phone and saw that it was true.
Ji Jinzhou: [Old He, when will you bring your wife out for us to see? You're not so stingy as to hide her from us, are you?]
Chen Feng: [If you don't bring the person out, I have a reasonable suspicion that your marriage certificate is fake.]
Han Jing: [To be honest, I never quite believed that He Chi was actually married. Otherwise, why didn't he even show us the marriage certificate last time?]
Chen Feng: [That’s right, my bachelor party is already over, there’s no point in regretting it, @He]
He Chi didn't even bother to read on. He tutted his words and said, "Even the provocation method was used."
Chen Ran whispered beside him, "Brother Chi, the brothers are just curious. Why don't you bring Sister Yining out to play for a while? Once they see people, they won't be so annoying."
After all, the old man who once declared that he would never get married in his life suddenly blossomed and got married quietly.
Who wouldn’t be curious?
He Chi thought he was being noisy, so he just said "hmm" perfunctorily, "Let me ask."
After saying that, He Chi went upstairs.
Chen Ran excitedly exclaimed, then immediately pulled out his phone and messaged his friends in the group chat: [Come quickly! Brother Chi said he'll have Sister Yining come over right now. If you don't come, you'll miss this opportunity!]
He Chi had just returned to the office and hadn't even sat down when he saw the message Chen Ran sent in the group chat.
The brothers in the group responded one after another.
Before he even said anything, they had already set a time.
Chen Feng asked He Jin: [Your bar's private rooms are not fully booked today, right?]
He Jin: [There are still two private rooms.]
Ji Jinzhou: [Then leave one out. Tonight at 7:30, latecomers will pay the bill.]
He Chi: “…”
There was no other way, so He Chi had to call and ask Jiang Yining if she wanted to come over and play.
When he went out, Jiang Yining said she wanted to take a nap, so He Chi waited until about three o'clock before calling her.
When Jiang Yining received the call, she and Teacher Lin were cutting flowers in the greenhouse. She was holding a bouquet of Roselle roses in her hand.
There was no place to put it nearby, so Jiang Yining handed the bouquet to Teacher Lin, "Mom, please hold it for me while I answer a phone call."
She took out her cell phone and saw that it was a voice call from He Chi. After hearing what He Chi said, Jiang Yining did not refuse and asked, "What time do you need me to come over?"
"Around seven o'clock, I'll go home and pick you up then."
Jiang Yining had no objection, "Okay."
After she hung up the phone, Teacher Lin asked, "He Chi wants to take you out?"
Jiang Yining hummed, "He said he would take me to meet his friends."
Teacher Lin knew without asking that they were going to the bar opened by He Chi.
When He Chi came back to pick up Jiang Yining, she reminded He Chi, "Yining can't drink much, so you should keep an eye on them."
Jiang Yining went back to her room to get her bag, and He Chi was sitting on the sofa in the living room downstairs waiting for her.
While Teacher Lin was speaking, He Chi was replying to a message, humming lazily.
Teacher Lin heard that he was just being perfunctory, and with a glance from Teacher Lin, He Yuwen immediately understood.
When the pillow was thrown over, He Chi reached out and caught it swiftly.
He felt that his status in the family had become increasingly lower since he married Jiang Yining. "Teacher Lin, do you have any advice?"
"Didn't you hear what I said to you?"
He Chi didn't dare to admit it. Just then, Jiang Yining came down from upstairs. He immediately stood up and said, "Mom and Dad, we have to go first."
Teacher Lin warned again, "Don't let Yining drink too much."
He Chi responded, "I know."
Ever since seeing Jiang Yining, He Chi's eyes have never left her. After being stared at for so long, Jiang Yining could no longer remain calm.
After getting in the car, Jiang Yining asked softly, "Doesn't this look good on me?"
In the afternoon in the greenhouse, her skirt accidentally got stained with mud, so Jiang Yining went back to her room to change into another set before going out.
The light green ink-wash dress she was wearing was bought for her by Teacher Lin. It had a low-cut halter neckline and a fresh color, and was paired with a very thin cardigan of the same color.
The skirt suits her temperament very well, making her look particularly gentle and beautiful.
He Chi reached out and used his long fingers to tuck a strand of hair that had fallen on her ear behind her ear.
The man's fingers touched the skin on her cheek lightly, causing a tingling sensation.
He didn't answer her question directly, but said, "Let's not go to the bar. Let's drive home."
Jiang Yining cried out, and looked at He Chi with a bewildered look on her face. "Why?"
He Chi's Adam's apple rolled slightly, and his tone was very calm, "My wife is so beautiful, I don't want to show it to them."
Jiang Yining was almost blushing at what he said, but he looked calm. She couldn't tell whether he was teasing her on purpose or was serious.
At this time, He Chi's cell phone rang.
He looked and saw that it was Chen Ran again, so he answered the phone.
Chen Ran was afraid that He Chi would not bring anyone with him. "Brother Chi, everyone is here. Are you here?"
He praised Jiang Yining like a fairy. After hearing what Chen Ran said, everyone couldn't contain their curiosity.
He Chi didn't really want to stand them up, "Go over now."
