Chapter 66 Let’s not sleep in separate rooms when we get back
The moment the door opened, their eyes met. He Chi stared at her with red eyes. Seeing her confused look, he didn't know how to react for a moment.
Jiang Yining stood at the door, rubbing his eyes in a daze, and said slowly, "I saw He Chi naked in front of me. Am I dreaming?"
After a pause, she said to herself, "I must not have woken up yet."
He Chi couldn't help laughing, his voice a little hoarse, "Yes, you are dreaming."
He turned off the water and casually wrapped her in a bath towel, knowing that she was woken up by holding it in, so he made room for her.
The bathroom was separated into dry and wet areas, but He Chi did not close the door when he took a shower, and some water splashed outside.
He held up one of Jiang Yining's arms and said, "There's water on the ground, be careful."
After sending her to the toilet, He Chi walked out of the bathroom and closed the door behind him.
After she came out of the bathroom, He Chi followed Jiang Yining and walked her back to bed.
After she lay down, He Chi reached out and gently pinched her nose, and said in a doting voice, "You were dreaming just now, you know?"
Jiang Yining was extremely sleepy. After straining herself to look at him, she slowly hummed in agreement.
The next day, Jiang Yining's stomach was growling with hunger. When she opened her eyes, she saw that the bedroom was dark.
After regaining some consciousness, she realized something was different from usual. The man's arm was across her waist, making it difficult for her to move.
She leaned in He Chi's arms, both of them sleeping on their sides, his warm breath falling regularly on her head.
He Chi seemed to be still asleep, and Jiang Yining didn't dare to move.
It was the first time she got drunk. How did she get home last night?
Jiang Yining had a headache. He closed his eyes and recalled the past. Memories flooded into his mind one after another.
She cried and told Teacher Lin that her mother was gone.
She dreamed that when she went to the toilet, she saw He Chi...
Now that I think about it, this was not a dream at all!
Jiang Yining quietly raised her hands to cover her face, and when she looked down, she found that she was not wearing the skirt she wore out last night, but the nightgown that Teacher Lin bought for her.
He Chi opened his eyelids lazily, and what he saw was his wife's ear tips which were already flushed.
His deep voice was slightly hoarse, "Awake?"
Jiang Yining bit her lip and said nothing, trying to pretend to be asleep.
After waiting for a while, He Chi saw that she didn't respond, so he curled his lips, didn't expose her, but hugged her tighter.
Jiang Yining had difficulty breathing. She couldn't pretend anymore and moved her body.
There is a big difference in body size between men and women. She is about 1.67 meters tall, but she looks petite in He Chi's arms, and his whole body is held in her arms.
He Chi spoke again, "Awake?"
Jiang Yining hummed softly. She didn't know where she had put her phone. She asked, "What time is it?"
He Chi reached out a hand from under the covers and fumbled around on the bedside table for a while before finding his phone. He glanced at it and said calmly, "It's exactly eleven o'clock."
No wonder I'm so hungry.
She pushed He Chi's arm away from her waist and immediately felt a lot more relaxed. "I'll get up first. Do you want to sleep a little longer?"
"No more sleep."
He woke up at seven in the morning, but Jiang Yining was still sleeping soundly at that time. He Chi did not get up for fear of waking her up.
This was the first time he slept until noon.
Jiang Yining lifted the quilt and got out of bed. She lowered her eyes and took a look, and her ears suddenly felt even hotter.
She was wearing a suspender dress last night, so she used breast pads. The nightgown did not come with breast pads, and Jiang Yining felt cold inside the nightgown.
Jiang Yining had her back to him, so He Chi couldn't see the expression on her face. He paused before saying, "I changed your clothes last night with your consent, but I didn't help you take a bath."
“…”
Why couldn't she remember when she agreed to let He Chi help her change clothes?
Jiang Yining said, "Thank you for your help."
Maybe it was because he just woke up, but He Chi's brain wasn't working properly, so he blurted out, "What's the problem? I'm happy to do it."
After hearing this, the couple was stunned.
He Chi simply didn't bother to be reserved. They had been married for a while, but they only slept in the same bed last night.
Jiang Yining is a slow-to-warm-up person. If he were to adapt slowly along with her, how long would he have to wait before he wouldn't have to solve the problem on his own?
He Chi walked behind Jiang Yining, hugged her from behind, and kissed her hair with his head half lowered. "Wife, let's not sleep in separate rooms when we get home."
This issue was discussed yesterday.
She also didn't plan to continue sleeping in separate rooms.
Jiang Yining's heartbeat quickened. After a while, she managed to calmly say, "Okay."
After getting the reply, He Chi went to the bathroom to wash up in a good mood. He finished quickly and left the bathroom to Jiang Yining.
Half an hour later, Jiang Yining came down from upstairs. It was her first time home, and she didn't get up until almost lunch time.
Jiang Yining felt very embarrassed. Everyone in her family was sitting in the living room. She walked over and called them one by one.
Old Madam He looked at her kindly, "Yining, you didn't have breakfast this morning. Go have a bowl of bird's nest porridge first, otherwise you won't have an appetite for lunch."
He Chi reached out, grabbed her wrist and pulled her to sit next to him. He jokingly said, "Grandma, I didn't have breakfast either. Why didn't you ask me?"
Old Madam He looked at her grandson lovingly, "Naughty."
He Qingwen laughed at him, "He Chi, this is not okay. You're even jealous of your own wife."
Feeling the joyful atmosphere of the He family, Jiang Yining also started laughing, and the uneasiness in her heart gradually dissipated.
Perhaps it was the endless quarrels in her family over the years that made her forget that family members can care about each other and not be calculating.
When going to the restaurant with He Chi to drink porridge, Jiang Yining said, "I like your family very much. We can come back often in the future."
He Chi said, "They are not just my family, Mrs. He, they are also your family."
Jiang Yining raised his head and smiled happily at He Chi, "Yes, they are my family too."
"My aunt and uncle are busy with work, and my parents don't come home often. Grandma is old. If you like it here, we can come back and have dinner with her when we are free."
Before coming to the He family, Jiang Yining was always worried that her grandmother would dislike her.
After all, her family background is ordinary. If it weren't for Teacher Lin, she might not have had the chance to come into contact with He Chi.
He also learned that his grandmother forced He Chi to leave the police force. His grandmother used to be a strong woman in the business world, and she single-handedly supported the He family.
Such women are so admirable.
But Jiang Yining was also worried that her grandmother had a strong personality and would be difficult to get along with. However, after actually getting to know her, she found that her grandmother was kind and approachable.
She has been through so much, yet she remains optimistic even in her old age.
She had forced He Chi to leave the police force before, probably because she was afraid of losing He Chi after experiencing the death of He Chi’s grandfather.
Jiang Yining could feel that He Chi felt sorry to leave the police force.
She still remembers that when He Chi looked at the special police uniform in the photo, regret and yearning were mixed in his eyes.
