Chapter 69: Impatient
All the things in the guest bedroom were taken away, and Jiang Yining knew that He Chi had returned home.
She walked to the master bedroom with a nervous mood, and the moment she opened the door, she saw two pillows neatly placed on the bed.
Jiang Yining breathed a sigh of relief.
She suddenly admired He Chi a little. Was he a prophet? How did he guess that Teacher Lin would come for an "inspection"?
He Xiaohui had already swaggered into the master bedroom. Jiang Yining and Teacher Lin were still standing at the door. She simply said, "Mom, how about you help me look for it?"
Seeing Jiang Yining invite her in to help find something, Lin Shu almost reflected on her own suspicion.
How could she suspect that the young couple was sleeping in separate rooms?
Lin Shu didn't refuse Jiang Yining's suggestion. She went in to help look for a while and asked, "Yining, is this cat toy big?"
Jiang Yining was about to go into the cloakroom to take a look. "It's not big." She turned around and roughly compared the size with Teacher Lin. "It's this small. There are four little balls in total."
Teacher Lin asked, "Could it be in the bedside table drawer?"
She didn't think much about it, and just happened to be standing there, so she opened the drawer.
When the drawer was opened, both the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law were stunned. Looking at the "little umbrellas" that filled the entire drawer, Jiang Yining opened her mouth, but didn't know what to say.
Teacher Lin is over fifty years old, and this is the first time he has encountered such an embarrassing thing.
She looked at Jiang Yining and saw that Jiang Yining had started to blush. She couldn't pretend that she didn't see anything.
After a pause, Lin Shu calmly closed the drawer and said, "Um... Yining, Mom didn't see anything."
Jiang Yining's face was almost flushed red, and he wanted to hang He Chi up and beat him up.
Finally, Jiang Yining found He Xiaohui's toys in the drawer of the wardrobe in the cloakroom.
Lin Shu didn't stay in Yuhubancheng for too long.
She was almost grinning when she left. Seeing that the young couple was living a happy life, she felt relieved.
After sending Teacher Lin downstairs and returning home, He Chi's reply finally came.
He Chi first explained why he didn't reply in time: "I left my phone in the office. Some of my high school buddies came to the bar this afternoon, and they left me in a private room. I couldn't get away and come back."
Then, He Chi asked: [Is Teacher Lin still here?]
He Chi: [I've already moved everything back to the master bedroom.]
Jiang Yining angrily accused him: "He Chi, I want to break up with you. You have no moral integrity. Why didn't you tell me in advance? You made me so nervous!"
He Chi wanted to laugh out of spite, but when he thought of Jiang Yining's nervous response to Teacher Lin, he couldn't laugh anymore.
He called Jiang Yining and started by apologizing, "I'm sorry, honey. I didn't know Teacher Lin would come."
His deep and pleasant voice came from the phone, especially when He Chi called her "wife" into the phone, Jiang Yining could no longer be angry with him.
But she didn't believe He Chi's words, "If you didn't guess that Teacher Lin would come, why did you go home to move things and buy a drawer full of..."
On the other end of the phone, the man chuckled.
Jiang Yining held back her words. She was no longer angry, but when she heard He Chi laugh, she said, "You're still laughing! Teacher Lin saw it all."
He Chi was worried that if he laughed again, he would really make her angry. He suppressed his smile but said nonchalantly, "If she saw it, she saw it. Teacher Lin will come over to take a look. I guess she's worried."
"She won't think too much about it anymore."
Jiang Yining didn't respond to him and said, "You haven't answered my question yet."
He Chi explained patiently, "I really didn't expect Teacher Lin to come over."
He said frankly, "As for why I moved my things back early, it was because I was anxious. I felt at ease only after I moved my things back."
He Chi coughed lightly, intending to tease her, "I've never used that thing before. Shouldn't I buy a few more to try?"
Jiang Yining's face had already begun to turn red, but he still refused to let her go. He asked her with a smile, "Don't you think so?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang Yining hung up the call.
Jiang Yining now understood why He Chi was so disliked by Teacher Lin.
After hanging up the call, Jiang Yining went to find He Xiaohui who was playing with a toy ball.
She squatted beside He Xiaohui and sighed. She often saw He Xiaohui being deliberately taken for a walk by He Chi in the past, and today she also experienced He Chi's badness.
Jiang Yining touched He Xiaohui with heartache, intending to form an alliance with He Xiaohui, "When He Chi comes back tonight, neither of us should pay attention to him."
He Xiaohui opened his cute cat eyes and glanced at her without even a meow, as if to say, "Do you think I believe it?"
Jiang Yining was angry with it. He stretched out his hand and pulled the long hair around its mouth, threatening it, "Meow, or I'll pull your cat hair out."
In order to gain freedom, He Xiaohui meowed perfunctorily. After Jiang Yining let go, he lazily slipped away with his lost and found toy ball.
When she got up, she received a message from He Chi.
He Chi: [I won't be going home for dinner tonight. It's a rare opportunity for us to get together. They have plans for dinner tonight, and He Jin and I will both go.]
Jiang Yining replied: [1]
Seeing Jiang Yining's reply, He Chi shook his head and laughed.
Coincidentally, Jiang Yining also made an appointment with Zhang Qiao to have dinner together in the evening.
Zhang Qiao invited Jiang Yining to a foreign restaurant with a high cost for dinner.
She had booked a small private room in advance and had been sulking for two days. When Jiang Yining came over, Zhang Qiao tearfully sought comfort from Jiang Yining, "Ningning, do you think I'm experiencing Mercury retrograde this year?"
"How can I be so unlucky!"
Jiang Yining had never seen Zhang Qiao look so dejected before. "What's wrong?"
"Didn't I tell you before that our company recently received a big order?"
Jiang Yining nodded, "I remember."
"I guess our manager finally showed some kindness. Seeing that I've been working overtime lately, he just waved his hand and gave me the responsibility for this project."
Zhang Qiao said angrily, "Blame my ex-boyfriend who pretends to be dead."
Jiang Yining was puzzled, "What does this have to do with him?"
Zhang Qiao sighed and explained, "The project has nothing to do with him. I ran into him at the bar the night before I went to meet a big client. That bastard was flirting with me with his girlfriend on his arm."
"After arguing with him for a few words, I got angry and picked up a glass of wine and threw it at his disgusting face."
Jiang Yining met Zhang Qiao's ex-boyfriend. He had been dating Zhang Qiao for less than a week when he wanted to ask her out to a hotel.
Unfortunately, Zhang Qiao has always only been into platonic relationships. In fact, these men just don't interest her.
Zhang Qiao refused and broke up immediately, which led to a quarrel. Because of this, they would always quarrel whenever they met by chance.
Jiang Yining asked, "And then?"
Zhang Qiao gritted her teeth, "And then this bitch actually dodged, and my glass of wine just spilled on a passerby."
She now wanted to tear her shameless ex-boyfriend into pieces. "But as luck would have it, that passerby turned out to be the important client I was going to meet the next day."
"It seems like he has mysophobia. After I poured a glass of red wine on him, his whole face turned black."
As he spoke, Zhang Qiao smiled mysteriously at Jiang Yining, "Let me tell you, this big client of mine is damn handsome."
There weren't many people Zhang Qiao could describe as handsome. Jiang Yining also became interested. "How handsome?"
"He's about the same level as your husband, equally noble and extraordinary, but his temperament is quite different. He Chi looks colder, but he's more casual. My big client is the exact opposite."
Zhang Qiao said with a hint of regret, "This man is a bit too arrogant. His tie is tied meticulously, revealing exquisiteness from beginning to end. He is a true veteran cadre."
She shook her head and sighed, "Can't there be more perfect men in this society? What a pity."
