Chapter 283: Enduring the Cold is One of the Trainings

As she spoke, she took down the army green backpack on the upper bunk, pulled out a paper bag, opened it, took out a small white pill, and handed it to Lin Yizhen.

Lin Yizhen took the medicine and poured a cup of hot water.

Then he woke up Geng Liping and asked her to take the medicine before going to sleep.

Geng Liping was feeling unwell, so when Lin Yizhen asked her to take the medicine, she didn't refuse. She reached out to take the pill, put it in her mouth, and drank some water to swallow it.

After taking the medicine, Geng Liping lay down and went to sleep again.

Seeing that Geng Liping had fallen asleep, Lin Yizhen went to the front of the dormitory with Yan Shuang to wash up.

After washing up together, the two went to the cafeteria to eat together. After eating, he brought back a portion for Geng Liping.

After dinner, they had nothing to do, so they went to the library together.

The library is open to all teachers and students of the school, even newly enrolled students can go in. However, they can only read in the library, unlike other teachers or senior students who can borrow books from outside.

Knowing that books could not be borrowed, Lin Yizhen and Yan Shuang could only read the books in the library.

The two of them took their books and found a seat next to each other, not disturbing each other.

It was at this time that Lin Yizhen realized that there were so many methods of warfare in modern warfare. She was so engrossed in reading that she didn't feel hungry until Yan Shuang called her.

I looked at the time and it was already 11:40, so I had to hurry to the cafeteria to eat.

After dinner, the two returned to the dormitory together.

I discovered that besides Geng Liping, there was another girl with long hair in the dormitory. It seemed that there was a new person there. After asking, I found out that her name was Pan Tingting and she was from western Shanxi.

After Pan Tingting introduced herself and learned that the two were going to the dining hall to eat, she followed them, planning to clean up her things and make the bed after dinner.

The three of them went to the cafeteria to have lunch together and brought lunch to Geng Liping who was sleeping in the dormitory.

After dinner, Lin Yizhen and Yan Shuang went to the library again and stayed there until the library manager got off work in the evening.

When I got back to the dormitory, two other people also arrived. They were both from Beijing. One was called Zhou Xiaoqing and the other was called Lu Fanghua.

I wonder if they are just quiet people by nature? Or maybe they look down on them because they are from other places and don't want to talk to them?

Anyway, the two of them just said they were locals, gave their names, and then stopped talking.

No matter what Yan Shuang said to them, they just nodded. Then the two of them went out together, and no one knew what they were doing.

After the two men left, Lin Yizhen and the others looked at each other and shook their heads, then the four of them went to the cafeteria to eat together.

After a day of rest in the dormitory, Geng Liping felt much better and had some strength. She left the dormitory and went to the cafeteria with everyone else.

They saw Zhou Xiaoqing and Lu Fanghua in the cafeteria, who were sitting with others chatting and laughing.

The four of them looked at each other, and finally started eating without saying anything.

After dinner, they returned to the dormitory with nothing to do, so they started chatting. Pan Tingting heard that Geng Liping caught a cold because the dormitory was too cold.

Feeling a little worried, she took out the large quilt she had brought with her and covered it on the thin quilt distributed by the school.

She was still a little worried about adding an extra bed, so she also put the big cotton-padded jacket her mother had just made for her on the bed, intending to cover herself with it when she went to sleep.

Lin Yizhen and the other two were stunned when they saw Pan Tingting's actions.

Although Beijing's winters are quite cold and there's no heating indoors, it's not that extreme. Besides, they have to quickly adapt to life without air conditioning. Who knows if the school will provide extra blankets for everyone?

After all, this was a military academy, and students had to endure hardships that ordinary people couldn't. One of those hardships was enduring the cold, something Lin Yizhen often trained for in the military.

However, the training in each place is different, and I don’t know if the school’s training includes this item?

Zhou Xiaoqing and Lu Fanghua were sitting on a bed chatting, while they were secretly observing Pan Tingting.

Although it was very hidden, Lin Yizhen still saw it.

It seems that these two people are deliberately not talking to them, so let's keep some distance from them in the future!

Around 8:00 PM, the instructor came to inform us that training would begin the next day. We were told to bring our daily necessities and gather at the playground.

They were also specifically reminded not to bring anything they didn't need, otherwise it would be confiscated.

Even if the counselor didn't tell her, Lin Yizhen would have known all this. But the other female students didn't think so. After hearing the counselor's words, they wailed and went back to the dormitory to tidy up.

As for the male students, they didn't bring much with them.

Although they didn't know how tough the training for military cadets was, they knew it wasn't easy. They had already made preparations before arriving, so they didn't say anything. They just packed their necessities.

The next day, Lin Yizhen got up early and woke up everyone in the dormitory.

Initially, she didn't want to call Zhou Xiaoqing and Lu Fanghua, fearing they would get angry. But then she realized they lived in the same dormitory, and if they didn't show up, she would be punished as well.

So she called the two of them together.

The fact was just as Lin Yizhen thought. Both of them looked unhappy after being woken up, but they did not lose their temper.

This surprised Lin Yizhen, and she turned around to look at the two of them.

Seeing that everyone in the dormitory had gotten up, Lin Yizhen quickly folded her quilt into a tofu-shaped block, then took the washbasin and teacup to the sink to wash up.

When the other people in the dormitory saw Lin Yizhen's movements, they also started to imitate her.

It's just that they haven't learned how to fold the quilt yet, so the quilt is not folded well. But they also try their best, and when they really can't fold it well, they put it aside and go to wash up quickly, otherwise they will be late.

Several people hurried to the playground and found that there were already many people there.

Fortunately, they didn't continue to fold the quilt, otherwise they would have been late.

Although they were not late, there were still others who were late. Perhaps because it was their first day, the instructor did not punish the students who were late today.

Instead, he asked them to return to the team quickly, and the instructor only started talking after everyone was present.

The content was roughly that military training would begin today and they would be trained in a military manner in the future.

He explained the training content, location, and time. Then he told them to pack their things and regroup at the same location in an hour. Finally, he dismissed them and left.

When the instructor said to dismiss the students, they gathered in groups of three or four and walked back.

They discussed where to go for training later. Many of them were educated youth and workers who had gone to the countryside.

Because he hadn't been a soldier before due to various reasons, he applied for the military academy. He really didn't know anything about the military, they only knew that being a soldier was glorious.

Lin Yizhen gathered with the other three and listened to them discussing the military training that would take place soon, without telling them what she knew.
