Chapter 121 No Room Available

"Zhu Xiuqin! Get out of here! From now on, never set foot in this house again!"

Su Qingzhi stood to the side, feeling a lump in her throat as she listened.

She was about to say something to persuade him when Zhu Xiuqin grabbed her arm tightly.

“Grandma, you’re wrong about that. This house doesn’t just belong to you, it belongs to me too! My husband is the son of the Shen family, and my son is the eldest grandson of the Shen family. This family has a share for them, and it also has a share for me!”

"You think you can kick me out of this house with just a word? Let me ask you, who gave you that right?"

Zhu Xiuqin's words were harsh and forceful, each sentence like a knife, piercing straight to the heart.

Su Qingzhi's lips moved, but she couldn't get a word in edgewise.

Wu Suya looked at the scene before her, her brows furrowed so deeply they were almost knotted together.

Shen Haitang has been living here for almost a month.

Every time Zhiheng from her family came home, this girl would eagerly go up to him and start a conversation.

As a result, Zhiheng went home less and less often.

But the old lady didn't find anything unusual; on the contrary, she treated Shen Haitang as the apple of her eye.

Just a few days ago, the old lady even publicly stated at the dinner table that she wanted Shen Haitang to be her granddaughter-in-law.

Upon hearing this, everyone at the table fell silent.

Only Wu Suya felt uneasy.

Wu Suya disliked this girl from the bottom of her heart.

I always felt that she was too scheming; she appeared obedient on the surface, but in reality, she was calculating every step of the way.

She had privately mentioned it to Shen Laoda several times, hoping he could persuade his mother not to make promises so easily.

But when the old lady was mentioned, Shen Laoda shook his head and sighed, and told her...

“Mom can’t stand hearing this now. If you mention it, she’ll start crying and wailing, saying how Grandpa was away on the battlefield for years and how hard it was for her to raise two children all by herself. Now that she’s old, she just wants someone to talk to. Once she starts crying, who dares to say a word?”

Indeed, whenever the old lady is slightly unhappy, she starts to cry and reminisce about the past.

Once she started crying, the whole family dared not say another word.

Wu Suya could only watch helplessly.

I hate that I can't speak up, but I can't bring myself to confront them directly.

Now that Zhu Xiuqin is back, she finally has a helper.

Seeing the tense situation, Wu Suya quickly tried to smooth things over.

“Mom, it’s rare for Yongmei to come back, and it’s not easy for our family to get together. Let’s not let something small make everyone unhappy. Don’t you think so? If Dad hears about this when he gets back, he’ll definitely be unhappy too. It’s most important for our family to be harmonious.”

"Besides, Xiao Shuo hasn't been home for so many years, don't you want to see him?"

Upon hearing Shen Zhiyu's name, the old lady finally shut up.

Wu Suya breathed a sigh of relief.

She quickly smiled and said to Zhu Xiuqin.

"You take Qingzhi to get through to Chen first. I'll go to the market now and buy some good food so our family can have a nice meal together."

"Okay, sister-in-law! I've been craving your cooking for so long, it's driving me crazy!"

Zhu Xiuqin responded in a clear and crisp voice.

She patted Su Qingzhi on the shoulder.

"Qingzhi, your aunt's cooking is superb. Her braised pork melts in your mouth, her sweet and sour pork ribs are perfectly balanced between sweet and sour, and her scallion oil chicken smells so good that the whole street can smell it. You must eat more later, don't be shy."

Su Qingzhi smiled and replied.

"Then I'll help my aunt out and learn a couple of dishes. That way I can cook them for my parents at home later."

The two walked upstairs talking, their steps light and their conversation flowing.

As they passed by the corner of the stairs, they didn't even glance at the Shen mother and daughter again.

Shen Haitang stood still, her fingers clenched tightly into her palms, her chest heaving.

She wanted to explain, but found that everyone had already gone far away.

Following Zhu Xiuqin's directions, Su Qingzhi entered Shen Zhiyu's room.

She froze as soon as she opened the door.

The curtains in the room were half-drawn, and sunlight streamed in at an angle, illuminating the neatly made bed.

The room was spotless, and a faint scent of oranges lingered in the air.

There was a pink hair tie on the bedside table, a magazine spread out on the desk, and a plate of snowflake cake next to it.

The edges of the pastry showed signs of being bitten, indicating that it had just been eaten.

"What's wrong?"

Seeing her standing motionless at the door, Zhu Xiuqin noticed something was wrong and frowned as she asked a question.

Su Qingzhi stepped aside and showed her the layout of the room.

Zhu Xiuqin glanced at it, and her face instantly turned dark.

She put the luggage on the ground, turned around and rushed to the stairwell, shouting.

"Who exactly occupied Shen Zhiyu's room?"

Grandma Shen had just picked up the cup when she was startled and dropped it.

She recoiled in shock, her face turning pale, and she cursed under her breath.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?! What are you yelling for?!"

Shen Haitang and her mother had already gone downstairs and were preparing to go out for a walk.

Hearing this, Shen Haitang's eyes reddened again.

She lowered her head, twisting the hem of her clothes with her fingers, and said with a wronged expression.

“I moved into that house because I saw it had been empty and no one lived there… I thought it was okay.”

Zhu Xiuqin hates people who cry at the drop of a hat.

She took two steps closer with a cold smile, looking down at Shen Haitang.

"Is that house yours? You just decide to move in? You come in as a guest without even asking who the host is? Do you think this is your home? Or is it that the Shen family's rule is to move into any empty house you see?"

Shen Haitang bit her lower lip, remaining silent and staring intently at the ground.

Seeing her like this, Old Mrs. Shen coughed twice and put on airs.

"Why are you yelling? Chunhua is here, and the guest room is too small for two people. I asked her and Haitang to move into Shen Zhiyu's room together."

Zhu Xiuqin frowned, her tone clearly displeased.
