"Let me think about it, let me think about it some more..."
Zhu Xiuqin muttered to herself.
"I need to think about it carefully..."
Su Qingzhi glanced at her, a hint of disappointment flashing in her eyes, and then sighed.
This person is weak, hesitant, indecisive, and unreliable.
Now that things have come to this, we can no longer harbor any illusions; we must prepare a way out for ourselves in advance.
She didn't say another word, turned around and left.
As soon as I arrived at the entrance, I saw Shen Cunpu standing at the intersection.
He was dressed in a crisp military uniform, his back straight, his gaze fixed quietly on her.
As she approached, she lowered her voice.
"Keep an eye on Zhu Xiuqin and her son, and see if Liu Yuelan goes to see them."
After speaking, she quickly scanned her surroundings to make sure no one was approaching before slightly raising her head to look at Shen Cunpu.
"good."
Shen Cunpu didn't ask any further questions, but simply nodded slightly, then started walking in the opposite direction.
Su Qingzhi felt relieved and prepared to go back.
I had only taken a few steps when a shout suddenly came from behind me.
"Sister Su Qingzhi!"
She turned around and saw Liu Chunhe.
He was wearing an old military jacket with a tear at the hem, which had been simply stitched up with coarse thread.
Compared to the chubby boy he was in Jiangcheng, he is now noticeably thinner, and his shoulders and back are straighter.
His eyes are the most striking feature.
No longer dodging and hesitating, but rather a calm and resolute demeanor.
Seeing Su Qingzhi stop, Liu Chunhe jogged over to catch up.
"Sister Su Qingzhi."
He called out again.
This time the voice was softer, but it sounded even more solemn.
He stood still, his hands hanging at his sides, his gaze fixed on her.
Su Qingzhi nodded, her tone indifferent.
"What's up?"
After all, this man is Liu Yuelan's younger brother, and that woman has been targeting her in every way lately.
Even if the person in front of her had changed, she was unwilling to let her guard down easily.
Liu Chunhe didn't mind her coldness.
He took a deep breath and then spoke.
“I know Liu Yuelan has gone to see Zhu Xiuqin several times recently. I can roughly guess what she wants to do.”
He stared at Su Qingzhi, his gaze unwavering.
What exactly is she trying to do?
Su Qingzhi asked.
Her voice turned colder, and her brow furrowed slightly.
"She wants to mess with Li Hong and his mother, and she also wants to drag you into it."
Liu Chunhe spoke bluntly, her tone even carrying a hint of disgust.
"She has already said a lot of bad things about you to Zhu Xiuqin, saying that you stole Li Hong's scholarship and deliberately isolated them. She wants Zhu Xiuqin to believe that you are a scheming woman, and then incite them to file a complaint together."
As Liu Yuelan's younger brother, he knew all too well what kind of person his sister was.
From a young age, Liu Yuelan was adept at feigning helplessness and gaining sympathy, but secretly enjoyed scheming against others.
In those years, she even used her own younger brother multiple times.
Just by looking at her tone of voice and the smugness in her eyes lately, he knew that she was plotting another storm.
Su Qingzhi was a little surprised.
She never expected that this once timid boy could now analyze the situation so calmly.
"So what do you plan to do?"
She asked.
His tone was still cold, but it was no longer as unapproachable as before.
Liu Chunhe took a deep breath.
"I can't let her hurt you."
A gust of wind blew past him, lifting a few stray strands of hair from his forehead.
But he didn't move, his gaze still fixed on Su Qingzhi's face.
"You want to help me?"
Su Qingzhi narrowed her eyes, still harboring a hint of doubt.
He nodded, his eyes filled with determination.
"Sister Su Qingzhi, I know you may not believe me. But this time, I will show you that I am serious."
After saying that, he turned and left without waiting for her response.
Sunlight fell on his thin shoulders, casting a long shadow.
Su Qingzhi watched his retreating figure, sighed, and slowly walked back.
Back at the family compound, Zhou Lan had already set breakfast on the table.
Steaming hot white porridge was rising, and several dishes of pickled vegetables were neatly arranged around the bowl. Two freshly made scallion pancakes were still warm in the pot.
She hurriedly ate a couple of mouthfuls of rice, picked up a piece of dried radish and put it in her mouth, then picked up the bowl and drank a big mouthful of porridge.
Time waits for no one; she had to get to work for a meeting before eight o'clock.
She put down her chopsticks, grabbed her coat draped over the back of the chair, and strode out the door without even turning her head.
As she passed by Fang Youming's house, she saw Liu Yuelan standing by the door frame.
Liu Yuelan also saw her, her gaze briefly sweeping over her, but she didn't greet her as usual.
She simply looked away silently, maintaining her original posture.
"Xiao Liu, what are you doing here?"
Ma Dongxue happened to turn out from the building next door, carrying a net bag in her hand.
She asked casually, her tone carrying a hint of familiarity.
Hearing the nickname "Little Liu," Liu Yuelan felt inexplicably angry.
She was only three or four years older than Ma Dongxue, but Ma Dongxue, relying on her husband being the deputy regimental commander, always acted like an elder, calling her "Xiao Liu" all the time, as if she were some ignorant little wife in the family.
"I didn't do anything."
She gave a cold reply.
Seeing that she was ignoring him, Ma Dongxue twitched her lips slightly and snorted.
She deliberately lifted the net bag onto her arm and said in a sour tone.
"You're lucky, unlike me. I have to go to work every day, run to the market in the wind and sun, and I can't even make much money even if I work myself to death."
Every word of these remarks seemed to be comparing herself to others, subtly and overtly mocking her leisurely and carefree life.
