Shen Zhiyu recognized the dark patterned badge on his body as soon as he stepped out.
That's the identification badge of an external liaison officer for the Secret Service.
The two did not go inside, but instead went to a quiet spot outside the courtyard and stood under an old locust tree.
They talked for about ten minutes, after which the man turned and left.
Shen Zhiyu watched him walk away, and only after confirming that no one was following him did he slowly return to the house.
"Su Qingzhi, come to my room. I have something important to tell you."
Su Qingzhi was sitting in the living room reading a book when she heard the call and immediately got up and quickly followed.
The two entered the room one after the other, closed the door, and drew the curtains tightly.
Immediately, Shen Zhiyu activated the spatial key, and a faint spatial fluctuation flashed by.
The next moment, they entered Shen Zhiyu's mental space.
After closing the door, Shen Zhiyu said in a low voice.
"Grandma has been poisoned."
Su Qingzhi was not surprised; she only asked one question.
"What kind of poison?"
"It's still unclear what kind of poison it is."
"However, according to preliminary analysis, two very special plant extract components were detected in the blood sample."
"One is a derivative of datura alkaloid, and the other is a nerve inhibitor extracted from Ashoka vine."
What effects will this poison have?
Su Qingzhi was completely confused.
"It will gradually damage the brain's neural transmission system, leading to cognitive dysfunction."
"Victims initially experience memory confusion, unable to recall recent events; then their language becomes illogical, their speech becomes incoherent, and they cannot distinguish between reality and hallucinations."
"If ingested continuously, the toxicity will accumulate to a certain level and completely destroy the connection between the hippocampus and the prefrontal cortex."
"The final result is that although the person is still alive, they have completely lost consciousness and become a vegetative state with no possibility of waking up."
Su Qingzhi was terrified, and her fingers involuntarily gripped the hem of her clothes.
"Such a bizarre poison? I've never even heard of it!"
She had read about hallucinations caused by datura in medical books.
But that kind of thing is usually a short-term hallucination, rather than a long-term erosion of the mind.
And this so-called "worry-free vine" is something I've never even heard of.
"Datura is quite common, with wild distribution in many parts of the country, and it also has a lot of medicinal value."
Shen Zhiyu continued, his tone growing increasingly heavy.
"However, Ashoka is extremely rare, and its known growing area is currently limited to the wild mountains along the border of Yunnan Province."
“That place is rarely visited by people; the locals call it ‘Ghost Forest,’ and even hunters dare not enter it easily.”
Su Qingzhi's eyes suddenly narrowed.
"So... these poisons might have been produced by Japan's secret base over there?"
Are you sure? Was it really those people who did it?
Shen Zhiyu nodded with a calm expression and firm gaze.
"It's almost certainly there. The clues are very clear; there's no mistake."
"Then...should we tell Grandpa right away?"
"want."
Shen Zhiyu spoke with absolute certainty.
“My elder brother and grandfather both need to know. Especially grandfather, he’s getting old, so we have to be extra careful when strangers appear around him. We can’t let the enemy take advantage of the situation.”
Su Qingzhi lowered her eyes and remained silent for a moment.
"The spiritual spring water might be useful... at least it can alleviate her symptoms, or perhaps even awaken her consciousness."
But Shen Zhiyu slowly shook his head.
"The research institute is working hard to develop an antidote, and there has been some progress. Let's wait and see how things go; we can't reveal anything about your space for now. It would be too dangerous for you if it were leaked."
She understood that the situation was complicated and that the old lady was under close surveillance by the Secret Service.
Any unusual behavior could attract unnecessary suspicion and trouble.
She simply responded with a soft sound.
"Okay... I know my limits. But if it really comes to a last resort, then it's not too late to use my method."
Upon hearing this, Shen Zhiyu's eyes softened slightly, and he reached out to gently pull her into his arms.
"Niannian, you are so thoughtful. You always think of others and never care about yourself."
"Then you'll have to pay more attention to me in the future, you can't always carry the burden alone."
After the two came out of the space, Shen Zhiyu turned around to confirm that the portal was closed correctly.
He then turned around and walked towards the old man's study.
He looked solemn the whole way, and stood outside the door for a moment before entering the study.
He then carefully inspected every corner of the room.
After confirming that there was nothing unusual, he closed the door, walked to his desk, and quietly reported the old lady's condition.
Upon hearing this, the old man's face instantly turned ashen.
"The Japanese are truly treacherous! They've actually dared to intrude into our home! This is a provocation, a demonstration!"
“In the past, I would have picked up a gun, led my men into their lair, wiped out their entire lairs, and left no one alive!”
Shen Zhiyu stood there, looking helpless.
“You are no longer the commander you were back then. Your status is different now, and you must consider the overall situation when you act. You cannot act impulsively.”
The old man glared at him.
"That bastard always picks on my sore spots and doesn't give me any face at all."
Although he complained, he knew in his heart that Shen Zhiyu was right.
"Do you think there's something wrong with Li Haitang? She's been staying outside the ward lately, showing a lot of concern."
"It cannot be determined at the moment."
Shen Zhiyu answered cautiously.
"But we have been secretly watching her, including monitoring her communication records, movements, and contacts. So far, we have not found any suspicious behavior."
