Chapter 61 I've Caused a Big Trouble

His voice choked with emotion, almost as if he were crying.

"That money... I took it... I really took it..."

Zhu Xiuqin stood there, stunned.

Her lips trembled slightly, her eyes widened in disbelief.

"What...what did you say? Say it again? Did I hear you wrong?"

Shen Zhiyu kept his head down, his forehead almost touching the ground, and his shoulders were shaking uncontrollably.

“That day… you were suddenly hospitalized, it was an emergency, and the doctor said they wouldn’t treat you unless you paid… I… I was really desperate, I couldn’t scrape together enough money from all sides… So… I took the money from your savings account…”

He paused, his Adam's apple bobbing, and continued with difficulty, "...Later...I asked Lanyin to keep it for me, saying I'd return it to you when I recovered...I didn't dare let her touch it, I didn't touch a single penny...Mom, I really didn't intend to embezzle it..."

"Let her keep it?"

Zhu Xiuqin abruptly pulled her hand back and took two steps back.

"She's only been married a few days? Not even a month! She hasn't even settled in yet, and you've already handed over my money to her? I've worked hard for half my life, scrimping and saving, even thinking for three days before buying a pair of socks, and you just gave it to her so easily?"

Her voice grew louder and louder, her finger trembling as she pointed at Shen Zhiyu: "I raised you all these years, provided you with food, clothing, and education, and what do you do! You turn around and protect an outsider! Protect a new wife who just entered the family, and treat me like dirt, trampling me under your feet!"

"I...I'll beat you to death! You traitor! How could you do this to me? How could you do this to our family?"

She was so angry that her chest heaved violently and her breathing became rapid.

Zhu Xiuqin was so angry that her chest felt tight, her vision went black, and she felt as if her internal organs were churning.

She turned around abruptly and pulled out the thick wooden bolt hidden behind the door.

The heavy wooden stick that she usually used to defend against thieves was now tightly gripped in her hands.

She swung the door bolt and smashed it at Shen Zhiyu without any hesitation!

The heavy latch ripped through the air and slammed into his back and shoulders.

It made a dull "bang bang" sound.

Shen Zhiyu cried out in pain and jumped up abruptly, his back burning with pain.

He huddled up, dodging and crying out.

"Mom, it hurts! It really hurts! I won't do it again! I admit I was wrong! Please stop hitting me...please, please stop hitting me..."

"You know that?"

Zhu Xiuqin's eyes were red, and her angry roar shook the roof beams.

"When you took my money, didn't you feel any pain? When you protected that woman, didn't you feel any pain for me? Today, if I don't beat you until you're seriously injured and learn your lesson, I'm not a Zhang! Let's see if you dare to do this kind of thing behind my back again!"

Zhu Xiuqin had been holding back her anger for a long time.

She wouldn't listen to any explanations, nor would she look at her son's miserable state.

She grabbed Shen Zhiyu by the collar and slammed him to the ground. Then she picked up the door latch and began to beat him wildly.

The sound of the wooden stick hitting the flesh was a sharp, crackling sound.

Interspersed with Shen Zhiyu's heart-wrenching cries.

They bumped back and forth in this small, dimly lit corner room.

The walls seemed to tremble, and the oil lamp in the corner shook violently.

The light and shadow flickered, illuminating the distorted faces of the mother and son.

Liu Yuelan's chest heaved violently, her face flushed red, and her eyes were slightly bloodshot.

He felt as if his whole being was ignited by a fire of anger from the inside out.

Unable to tolerate this unreasonable scene any longer, she suddenly rushed out from behind the crowd.

Enraged, she rushed out and blocked Shen Zhiyu's path, forcefully pushing Zhu Xiuqin's arms away and shouting, "Enough! Are you trying to kill someone?!"

Her voice was shrill.

"Smack!"

The door latch in Zhu Xiuqin's hand fell just in time, hitting Liu Yuelan squarely!

The log flew through the air in a short arc, whistling through the air, before striking her head hard.

In that instant, no one reacted.

All eyes were fixed on Liu Yuelan, their pupils contracted, and their minds went blank.

A muffled thud came, sending chills down one's spine.

The dull thud of the impact.

Some people instinctively covered their ears, while others stared wide-eyed, but dared not take a step forward.

The heavy log struck Liu Yuelan on the right temple!

At the moment of impact, the force of the wood colliding with the bone caused the latch to bounce slightly.

Liu Yuelan's head suddenly tilted to the left.

Her eyelashes trembled violently, and her pupils dilated abruptly.

Just once.

That strike was swift and decisive, without any hesitation.

There will be no second time, nor is a second time necessary.

She didn't even utter a sound; she fell straight down like a felled tree, landing in the mud and ash on the ground.

Her body slumped down, her arms outstretched limply.

His fingers curled slightly, as if he wanted to grasp something.

Dust rose as she fell, then slowly settled.

Bright red blood kept gushing out of her hair.

At first, it was just a few drops, but then it gushed out like a spring, staining the stray hairs by her ears red.

Blood beads slid down her hair, one drop, two drops, continuously hitting the muddy ground.

It flowed down her cheeks and into her neck.

Soon, the soil beneath his head turned dark red.

It was sticky and wet.

The soil, soaked with blood, emitted a faint smell of rust.

"this……"

Shen Zhiyu felt as if something was tightly gripping his throat.

His lips trembled slightly, and his face turned deathly pale.

Shen Zhiyu's throat tightened, and he immediately rushed over, kneeling on the ground and shaking her desperately.
