Chapter 8

Chapter 8

Kurt's threat is irrelevant to me.

I turned my face to meet his eyes up close, not even bothering to put on any expression.

"Really?" I asked, suddenly finding it somewhat amusing.

I smiled and reached out to touch his face, which was as handsome as his brother's, and whispered:

"Alright... Go find the ring again."

After saying that, I didn't forget to pinch his thin earlobe.

“If you’re really determined,” I said, “I can throw away Illumi’s ring and replace it with yours… but are you sure you can afford the price?”

"I only threw that thing away because I really like Kurt." Just like he had done earlier, I leaned close to his ear and whispered, "But don't be too sad, because there are more important things in my heart."

...I almost whispered the last sentence to him.

The whispers lingered only between our lips and ears.

"I've always preferred Kurt to my older brother."

That's what I said.

Kurt uncomfortablely tried to turn his face away and raise his fan to cover his face, but I pressed his fan down.

"Don't you believe me?" I asked. "Or does Kurt think I should take the ring back and let your older brother bully you?"

“…No need, Sister Lei.” He replied softly, a suspicious flush spreading under his eyelids.

I laughed.

Saying that she's already grown up...

He's still a child.

Growing up to this extent is an "easy" feat.

“Okay,” I said, “then let’s leave this matter at that.”

He responded, "Yes."

...

After that, I sent Kurt away and then spent some time alone.

The maid appeared much later, her face showing a hesitant expression, and called out to me:

"Miss."

I was idly scrolling through my text messages when Hisoka sent me a few more, all with the same content... Ugh, today there was an extra MMS.

Photos posted

After clicking the download button, I put my phone away temporarily, turned to the maid, and asked, "What's wrong?"

The maid stammered, "Madam just called."

I yawned: "And then?"

She seemed afraid of offending me, so she leaned back as much as possible, looking humble, and secretly glanced at my expression, trying to keep her tone as gentle as possible.

“The madam said…” she said slowly, “Miss, please be mindful of your words when joking…”

"What did she mean by 'joke'?" I countered. "About what happened with Kurt this morning... Has an hour passed already? Mother gets the information incredibly quickly."

She lowered her head.

I added, "It's tough on her. She's so busy that she doesn't have time to go home, yet she still has time to care whether I like to joke around or not."

The maid remained silent, trembling with fear.

This had nothing to do with her, and I didn't want to involve innocent people, so I waved her out.

"Never mind, just go back and tell her I know. Thank you for your help."

She nodded hurriedly and said yes, then turned around and disappeared.

It's so pitiful to work under people like my mother and me, who are in the same mental state.

I snapped my attention back to my phone, swiped the screen, and continued to savor Hisoka's flowery words.

—Hey, Little Lai, are you really that heartless to ignore me?

—They're filled with longing for little Laiyi here! [Image]

The image has already been downloaded. I opened it and took a look. The background is a steamy bathroom, and a red-haired man is casually tossing his hair, showing me his bare chest.

I have to say, it's a real shame to only have me to see Hisoka's physique.

If you posted it online, you could probably receive tons of donations just by lying down and doing nothing.

Moreover, this guy actually had more principles than I thought. Before I opened the picture, I thought he was going to send me some indecent stuff.

I only realized how aesthetically pleasing it was after opening it.

Saved.

Out of pity for his muscular physique photos, I finally took pity on him and accepted his friend request, and casually changed his nickname to "a borderline guy with terrible skills".

I constantly remind myself that I should just admire his physique and not be tempted by his deceptive appearance.

After my friend request was accepted, Hisoka was online and replied almost instantly, which was a pleasant surprise.

"Little Lai~ You finally remembered me~"

My needs were clear, and I didn't want to elaborate. I simply quoted that photo of his physique, concisely stating my requirements:

"Send a few more of these."

Hisoka: ""

Me: "Or I'll block you."

Hisoka: ""

He repeatedly said, "The other party is typing..."

I waited for a while, but didn't see the photos I wanted or any new messages. I pouted and logged out out of boredom.

At that moment, Hisoka posted several photos of his physique from different angles, including his back muscles, chest muscles, abdominal muscles, and even a selfie of himself in a tight suit.

...Tsk.

I'm having trouble controlling myself.

I looked up and reread the notes I had given him several times before I calmed down.

I would never fall for the same guy who's technically terrible twice.

I calmly gave my assessment: "Good."

Then I immediately initiated several large-scale transfers to him.

Me: "Come find me if you have any photos."

Hisoka is finally free from those sticky, weird symbols this time.

“Heh,” he replied, “what does little Lai think he is?”

He became a male live streamer specializing in providing entertainment.

You can't say that.

I yawned, and without even thinking, I knew exactly what to say to cheer Hisoka up.

Me: "Perform well, and when I get tired of playing with Illumi, I'll come looking for you first."

Hisoka was satisfied and replied with a bright smiley face.

...How should I put it?

I think.

He really knows a lot.

In his presence, all you need to do is click on the most [chaotic and evil] fun option.

I really exited the chat this time.

At this moment, Kurt appeared silently, like a kitten stepping on soft cushions.

...Please, it would be better to make some footsteps.

I was slightly startled, but I calmed down after a while.

He didn't notice my fright and reached out to hand me something.

I looked down and saw it was a paper butterfly.

Kurt has skillful hands and is very good at paper cutting. The butterfly lives lifelike in his palm, fluttering its wings as he manipulates his Nen ability.

“Well,” he said, “even if my older brother sees it, there shouldn’t be any problem.”

He tried hard to suppress his excitement, but a hint of joy still escaped his lips:

"You can place it next to a flower arrangement; it can fly for a very long time..."

I imagined the scene of paper butterflies fluttering around the flower arrangement, and I have to admit, the gifts Kurt gave me were all exactly what I wanted.

“Okay,” I said, taking the butterfly with a smile. “I like it very much, thank you.”

He stood there without replying.

The phone screen lit up, which startled me. I wondered if it was Hisoka.

But no, it's just a regular app push notification.

I felt relieved again.

Kurt can do some terrible things sometimes, and the atmosphere is just right right now, so I don't want anything to suddenly happen and ruin this precious memory.

I do like him quite a bit, although I may not understand how he feels about me.

After confirming that it was just a normal message notification, I turned off the screen.

Turning around, I noticed that Kurt's expression was a little subtle.

oops.

I remembered with a headache that a long time ago, I had set my desktop and lock screen to images related to that person.

Although I changed the desktop screen in front of Kurt yesterday, I haven't changed the lock screen yet.

"A group photo," Kurt asked, "is it that person?"

...It's hard to deny.

Yesterday was just a silhouette, but today's lock screen shows the full face.

“No,” I said decisively, “it’s my brother.”

Kurt: "..."

“I have an older brother who fell into the sea and disappeared when he was a child, as everyone knows,” I said again. “...He came back for a while later, and this photo was taken at that time.”

Even though I had explained it very simply and clearly, Kurt continued to look strange, as if he had heard some incomprehensible information.

"Really?" After a long pause, he repeated my words, "This person is your brother."

Me: "Yeah, I found it around the years when your older brother and I were arguing. That's why you haven't seen it."

He said, "It's not because we're strangers that..."

I:""

Kurt suddenly stopped talking: "It's nothing."

--------------------

I've noticed a sudden increase in followers these past two days...maybe it's because of this story?

But, to be honest, saving this article is also very important, sob sob! Don't forget to save it! (Hands clasped together) Thank you everyone, sob sob!
