Chapter 57
After Yin Mu and Zhong Mengyuan arrived at the high-speed train station, they took a bus for more than half an hour. It was already noon when they arrived at the ancient town called Qingyan Town.
Tired from the car ride, they dragged their suitcases through the narrow streets for a while before finally finding the B&B they'd booked. To the left of the B&B was a bar, and to the right was a small trinket shop. It was a rather unassuming place, nestled between two corners.
Zhong Mengyuan confirmed the name and address of the B&B and complained, "The location is bad and the entrance is so small, no wonder there are so many empty rooms. The exterior is so old, I don't know what it's like inside."
"Yeah, it seems like there are quite a lot of people going out to play during the summer vacation." Yin Mu agreed, and then said, "It's okay. If the environment is too bad, we can just stay for one night and move to the city tomorrow."
Zhong Mengyuan waved her hand: "As long as it's clean, it's fine. Changing it all over again is too much trouble."
Yin Mu smiled and said, "Okay, let's go in and take a look."
The owner of the B&B was a fat middle-aged man who was sitting on a recliner behind the counter with his legs crossed. The volume of the variety show video on his phone was turned up very high, and bursts of laughter could be heard.
Zhong Mengyuan knocked on the counter: "Boss, check in."
The boss looked up and saw them. He reluctantly pressed pause, then stood up to help them check in and casually asked, "Are you here for the music festival too?"
"Music festival?" Zhong Mengyuan asked in surprise. "What music festival? When?"
The boss was even more surprised than them: "It's the Midsummer Music Festival that starts tomorrow. I heard that many celebrities will be coming, so there will be a lot of guests coming here, and even the B&Bs in the ancient town are almost fully booked."
"Oh, is that so." Zhong Mengyuan nodded and looked at Yin Mu, "It seems that we came here at the right time. Let's go and have some fun."
"Okay, then let's see if we can buy tickets on the spot tomorrow."
The boss finished the paperwork, got up and took them to the second floor: "I see you didn't make any notes, and there are only king-size rooms left. Is that okay?"
Yin Mu and the others didn't care and agreed: "It's okay, anything is fine."
The stairs leading to the second floor were narrow and the steps were high. Yin Mu carefully carried the suitcase and followed the boss all the way to the room at the end of the corridor.
Contrary to Yin Mu's expectations, the room was in good condition, very clean, and there was no strange smell. She couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. After the boss left, she said to Zhong Mengyuan, "It's okay."
"Yeah, it's much better than I imagined." Zhong Mengyuan pushed the suitcase against the wall, opened the window and looked out. "The view is good. Look, I can see the river."
Yin Mu walked over to watch with her and said, "You can go and see, maybe you can row a boat by yourself."
Zhong Mengyuan turned his head to look at her and said with a smile: "Forget it, I don't want to fall into the river with you."
Yin Mu pushed her in dissatisfaction: "Hate it, why do you look down on me?"
Zhong Mengyuan just smiled and said nothing.
Yin Mu saw the sign of the bar next door and said, "There's a bar right next to it. Let's go there tonight."
"That's fine, but you're planning too much."
Yin Mu didn't care: "Anyway, there's plenty of time, and there's no rush to go back, isn't this good?"
"Yes, yes, yes." Zhong Mengyuan replied perfunctorily, "But let's go eat first. I'm hungry."
"good--"
When they packed up and went out, a light drizzle began to fall from the originally gloomy sky. Both of them had forgotten to bring an umbrella when they set out, and they stood at the door looking at each other in confusion.
Yin Mu stretched out his hand to feel it, then turned around and asked Zhong Mengyuan: "Why don't we go out in the rain? There should be a supermarket nearby."
Zhong Mengyuan frowned: "I don't want to get wet in the rain, my hair will get wet."
"It's okay if it rains a little."
Zhong Mengyuan still refused: "No."
Yin Mu had no choice but to say, "Then let's wait and see if the rain will stop."
As we were talking, the boss came down from the second floor, shaking his key chain and asked, "What's wrong? Are you ready to go out?"
Yin Mu replied politely: "Well, it's raining, let's go out later."
The boss laughed when he heard it: "You didn't think of bringing an umbrella when you came to Qingyan? It's famous for its frequent rain here."
"..." Yin Mu was a little embarrassed, "I was careless."
The boss returned to the counter, put the key away, and took out a colorful folding umbrella from under the counter and placed it on the table. He pursed his lips and said, "I'll lend it to you. Go out and have fun."
Yin Mu and Zhong Mengyuan looked at each other and asked the boss, "Boss, don't you need an umbrella?"
"I have several more here," the boss said. "Besides you, there are often people who forget to bring their umbrellas, so I prepared a few extra. - How about our thoughtful service, right?"
"That's very thoughtful." Zhong Mengyuan raised the corner of her mouth, "Thank you, boss."
"You're welcome."
Yin Mu opened his umbrella and took the lead in stepping down the stairs. He stepped onto the bluestone road and heard the tiny sound of raindrops hitting the umbrella. He said, "Look, it's not a big deal if it's raining so lightly. It doesn't matter if you don't open an umbrella."
"Why are you talking so much nonsense?" Zhong Mengyuan curled her lips and said, "Let's go."
Holding umbrellas, they first found a clean-looking small restaurant nearby and had a simple lunch. They then wandered aimlessly around the ancient town before returning to the B&B.
The bar next door opens at 7pm. The sound insulation of the B&B's walls is obviously not that good, and some vague music can be heard.
Yin Mu and the others just wanted to go and take a look and didn't plan to stay any longer, so they stayed in the room playing with their phones and didn't go out until almost nine o'clock.
After all, in order to consider the feelings of the neighbors, the bar is more restrained and plays relatively soothing music. The guests drink and chat, which is quite harmonious.
Yin Mu ordered a cocktail with a very strange name. While drinking it, he chatted with Zhong Mengyuan. He felt relaxed all over, with a completely relaxed feeling of being on vacation.
Not long after, Zhong Mengyuan went to the bathroom, leaving Yin Mu alone waiting at the bar.
Yin Mu held his chin with one hand, bored as he watched the bartender mix another glass of strange-colored wine. He couldn't help but ask, "What's the name of this wine?"
The bartender looked up at her and said, "Green Grasshopper, one drink?"
Yin Mu immediately shook his head like a rattle: "No thanks, thank you."
The bartender smiled and asked, "Where's your friend?"
"Oh, she went to the bathroom."
The bartender then asked, "Are you here for the music festival?"
"No, I just randomly picked a place to play and happened to be there." Yin Mu asked curiously, "Is there anything special about this music festival? Why do people's first thoughts are to come for the music festival?"
The bartender shrugged. "It's not that special, but it's just that people tend to think young people like to hang out in crowded places. It's human nature, isn't it?"
"You seem to be right."
The bartender gave the prepared drink to the customer next to him. His hands were temporarily idle. He leaned his elbows on the bar and asked Yin Mu, "Has anyone else asked the same question?"
"The B&B owner asked the same thing."
"I see." The bartender nodded and asked, "Which B&B are you staying at?"
When going out, Yin Mu maintained a sense of safety and did not answer the question, but passed it over vaguely.
The bartender didn't mind and said nonchalantly, "A few of our friends are going to a music festival tomorrow night. If you're planning on going too, why not join us? It'll be more lively and fun with more people."
Yin Mu didn't want to play with a group of strangers, so he said, "We haven't decided yet."
"Could you please leave me your contact information?" the bartender said, pushing out a sticky note. "I can't use my phone while I'm working. I'll contact you after get off work."
Yin Mu regretted talking to him just now. Zhong Mengyuan didn't come back for some reason. When Yin Mu was trying to find an excuse to refuse, Zhong Mengyuan finally came back and said excitedly: "Rabbit, guess who I saw at the bathroom door just now!"
Yin Muru was pardoned. He smiled apologetically at the bartender and turned to talk to Zhong Mengyuan: "What's wrong? Who?"
"Jiangnan Rain!"
Yin Mu's eyes widened in shock: "Is this true?"
"Of course it's true. I can admit my mistake."
"But this is too much of a coincidence." Yin Mu still didn't quite believe it and looked up. "Where is he sitting? Did you talk to him?"
"He was with his friends, so I just said hello to him and chatted with him for a while."
Yin Mu sighed: "It's such a small world."
"Indeed, but that's normal. He's a serious singer and he came here just for the music festival."
"That's right." Yin Mu thought of Jiang Nanyu's profession and smiled: "If you didn't say it, I would always forget this."
Zhong Mengyuan also laughed: "If he heard you say that, he would be so angry that he would die."
The bartender then interjected, "Do you have any friends who are singers?"
Zhong Mengyuan turned her head and looked at him in surprise, not understanding why he suddenly started talking to them, so she didn't respond, but just looked at Yin Mu, asking her what was going on with her eyes.
Yin Mu coughed awkwardly and said to the bartender, "We're just acquaintances."
Seeing that Zhong Mengyuan's eyes were full of vigilance, the bartender tactfully stopped talking and lowered his head to wipe the glasses.
Zhong Mengyuan was more cautious than Yin Mu, so without saying anything, she took her to another seat and warned her: "Don't talk to strangers casually, what if they are bad people with bad intentions?"
Yin Mu muttered guiltily: "How can it be so exaggerated? I'm not a child, I know what I'm doing."
Zhong Mengyuan refused to give in: "When you go out, it's never too careful."
Yin Mu raised his hands in surrender: "Okay, okay, I get it, don't read it anymore."
"...You are really generous."
Yin Mu puffed his lips and took a sip of wine.
After sitting for a while, Yin Mu felt bored and said, "Go back to sleep."
"Are you sleepy?"
"A little bit."
"Okay, let's go back." Zhong Mengyuan said, "I was wondering if Jiang Nanyu would come looking for us. It seems he can't get away, so forget it."
"Hmm?" Yin Mu narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Did you make an appointment? Or did you have some tacit understanding behind my back?"
"What are you thinking? You can tell it's impossible even with your knees." Zhong Mengyuan rolled his eyes. "It's because he said he wanted to come and say hello to you. I can't be too rude, right?"
"oh."
"Oh my god, are you disappointed or something?" Zhong Mengyuan pushed her away angrily and amusedly, "Let's go back to sleep."
The two of them just stood up and took two steps when they heard a familiar voice behind them: "Zhong Mengyuan, wait."
Yin Mu looked back and saw Jiang Nanyu waving at them with a smile on her face under the light.
