Chapter 10 Let Her Be the Master

Without waiting for her to react, Fu Ciyi took the backpack from her back and put it on his own back.

Just like when he came, he quickly walked ahead.

Yan Funing chased after him and wanted to say thank you, but the words were on the tip of her tongue and she couldn't open them.

Someone also needs to eat the rice and flour in the basket, so it is only natural for him to carry it back.

Fu Ciyi glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, his handsome brows slightly furrowed.

She was already out of breath carrying just such a small basket of things, and now she was massaging her shoulders all the way.

Spoiled!

The boredom in the corners of his eyes and eyebrows could not be concealed.

--

It was almost noon when the two of them got home.

"Mom, we're back."

As soon as he entered the courtyard, Yan Funing called out sweetly.

Wan Niang, who was in the main room, heard the sound and waved in the direction of the voice with a smile on her face: "Child, come in quickly. It's cold outside."

Fu Ciyi walked quickly into the house and put the backpack aside.

Wan Niang groped over and touched her eldest son's arm. She slapped it away and, after grabbing Yan Funing's arm, she smiled and asked, "Are you tired?"

Fu Ciyi: “…”

"I'm not tired, it's..." Yan Funing pursed her lips and finally said, "It was my husband who carried the rice and flour back. I'm not tired."

Fu Ciyi frowned slightly, and a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes.

Wan Niang pulled Yan Fu Ning to sit down and said softly, "How can I not be tired? It's a long way from here to town."

Yan Funing smiled slightly, took the water poured by Fu Nanyao, and took a small sip.

"I sold nearly eight catties of oyster mushrooms for two hundred coins, based on their weight." She took another sip of water and continued, "Then I went to the grain and oil store to buy rice and flour, along with salt and sugar. They had rapeseed oil and soy sauce, but I had to bring my own containers, so I didn't buy any."

Wan Niang praised: "My daughter-in-law is so capable!"

Fu Beimo opened the rice bag, then the flour bag, and said happily, "We won't be hungry anymore!"

Yan Funing hummed, "Twelve kilograms of rice and five kilograms of flour, should be enough for us to eat for a few days." She pulled out the last few copper coins from her sleeve pocket and smiled sheepishly, "After buying these, I only have ten cents left."

Wan Niang gently patted the back of Yan Funing's hand and said, "Thank you for your hard work, child!"

At this time, Fu Ciyi took out a handful of copper coins and placed them on the table.

Two copper coins fell to the ground and rolled away.

"Brother, how come you have copper coins too?"

Fu Beimo picked it up quickly.

Fu Ciyi said calmly, "I earned this from writing. Keep it, mother."

Only then did Yan Funing discover that there were black ink marks on his fingers.

Fu Nanyao took the two copper coins picked up by his brother and counted them together with the pile on the table.

After a moment, she smiled and said, "Brother and sister-in-law together, the total is sixty-eight coins."

Wan Niang said, "All this money will be kept by my daughter-in-law. You will be the head of our family from now on."

Yan Funing was puzzled: "I'm the head of the family?"

Wan Niang nodded: "Yes, I believe you."

Yan Funing stared at someone. After all, he had earned fifty-eight coins here, but it was not a good time to ask him at the moment, so she strung the copper coins together one by one with a red rope.

Wan Niang said happily, "It's almost noon, let's make noodles."

Although she can't see, she is still good at kneading dough and rolling noodles.

Fu Beimo carried the backpack, Fu Nanyao supported Wan Niang, and the three of them went to the kitchen.

Yan Funing was wearing the copper coins. Seeing that someone was still there, she asked softly, "Do you want to put your copper coins away yourself?"

Fu Ciyi poured himself a glass of water, but when he heard her question, he paused.

"If I tell you to take care of it, you should do it."

His voice was slightly cold.

It's just a few copper coins, not a big deal.

--

In the kitchen, just as the flour was put into the basin, a chaotic noise came from the yard.

Hu Ajing came again with a few villagers.

"When my great uncle and great aunt came to the city, they asked my grandma to look after this courtyard." Hu Ajing said confidently, "Now that my great uncle and great aunt are gone, this courtyard belongs to me and my grandma."

Fu Nanyao patted the flour off her hands, walked out of the kitchen, and asked, "Why are you here again?"

Hu Ajing's neck stiffened: "I come from a courtyard, do I need your consent?"

Yan Funing put away the copper coins and left the main hall. Her beautiful eyes stared at the dark-skinned woman not far away: "Who are you?"

"My name is Hu Ajing, Fu Da is my great uncle, and my grandmother is Fu Da's sister."

"What you just said is a fallacy."

"Why is it crooked?"

Yan Funing said calmly, "Grandpa and grandma are gone now. When their daughter and grandchildren come back, shouldn't they be able to live in this courtyard? And yet they let a relative like you, a relative from another family, take it over? Isn't that a perverse logic?"

Hu Ajing never expected that the extremely beautiful girl opposite her could excite her with just one word.

In the kitchen, Wan Niang asked her youngest son to help her back to her room. The issue of the ownership of this courtyard had to be settled.

"How can this be a fallacy? My grandparents said that Fu Wanniang is not my great uncle and aunt's biological daughter at all!" Hu Ajing pointed at Fu Wanniang as she passed by, then turned to the middle-aged man standing next to her, "Village head, please give us your verdict!"

The village head pondered for a moment and said, "According to reason, Mr. Fu's house should be inherited by his children. That's right. If he has no children, then his relatives will inherit it."

Fu Nanyao was anxious, and looked anxiously at Fu Ciyi who was still drinking water in the main room: "Brother!"

Fu Ciyi put down the bamboo teacup and just as he stepped out of the main hall, he heard a clear voice.

"May I ask if the law stipulates that adopted children also enjoy inheritance rights?" Yan Fu stared at the village head. "Who took care of my grandparents in their old age and ensured their family happiness? What did the Hu family do during this time?" Her gaze shifted to Hu Ajing's face. "And now they're jumping out and even trying to take over this dilapidated old house. What kind of law is this?"

Fu Ciyi's lips moved slightly. This woman actually understood the laws of the dynasty.

The village head choked up: "This..."

Even the village head was rebuked. Hu Ajing was so anxious that she jumped up and down: "The adopted one is an outsider. How can an outsider inherit?"

At this time, Wan Niang took out the house deed and showed it to everyone.

"Before my parents passed away, they changed the name on the property deed to mine. Considering that the Fu and Hu families are relatives, we gave Miss Hu face last time. I didn't expect this to happen again today. I hope the village head will speak up for justice!"

The village head said, "Since the deed has already been transferred to another owner, it cannot be considered an inheritance. Hu Ajing, what are you still arguing about?"

The other party even has the house deed, so Hu Ajing has nothing to say.

After this incident, the village head and the villagers left in embarrassment.

Hu Ajing saw the handsome young man standing at the entrance of the main hall and smiled smugly at Fu Wanniang, "Uncle, aunt, our two families are relatives after all. I was wrong today, so please don't be angry."

Wan Niang didn't respond.

Hu Ajing turned to Fu Ciyi and smiled, lowering her voice to make it as pleasant as possible: "This is my second cousin, right? Is he married?"

"Go away! You're not welcome in our house!" Fu Nanyao frowned. "Besides, my brother is already married!"

Wan Niang extended her hand in the general direction of Yan Funing's position and said, "Daughter-in-law, please help me back to the kitchen. I will roll noodles for you."
