Chapter 41 The Girl is Courageous

Li the coachman nodded. "Two miles from the market, there is indeed a house. It's all alone, with very high walls."

Yan Funing asked, "Brother Li also knows?"

"Well, it's said that there's a mysterious nobleman living there, from the capital, who's here to recuperate." Li, the coachman, patted the ox's back and added, "But no one has ever seen this nobleman."

Tong Cheng also said: "Our town is beautiful with clear water and green mountains. It's not surprising that a noble person comes to recuperate. What's strange is that no one has ever seen the true face of the noble person."

Yan Funing was surprised: "So mysterious?"

Tong Cheng nodded: "Yes, even the person who delivered the herbs has never seen that noble man."

Tong Ya rushed to speak: "My friends and I went to play by the courtyard, and some fierce servants came to chase us away."

Hearing this, the house became even more mysterious.

The four of them chatted along the way. When they passed a blacksmith shop, Tong Cheng raised his finger and said, "Miss, look, that's my blacksmith shop."

Yan Funing smiled and said, "Okay, I'll remember that. I'll come to you next time to get some tools."

Li the coachman couldn't help but interrupt: "How do you, a blacksmith, know a girl from our village?"

"It's a long story. This girl is my daughter's lifesaver." Tong Cheng half hugged his daughter and said gratefully, "If it weren't for you, my daughter's arm would be broken."

Yan Funing waved her hands repeatedly: "I don't deserve to be your lifesaver."

Li the coachman laughed and said, "You're worthy of it! The girls in our village are really capable."

As he spoke, he straightened his back, looking proud.

After chatting for a while, they went outside the house.

The house covers a large area and has very high walls, about ten feet high.

Looking in from the outside, because of the wall blocking the view, you can only see the roof and the upturned eaves of the house, as well as several towering trees that reach into the sky.

The ox cart stopped and several people got off.

Tong Cheng took his daughter's hand and went forward to knock on the door, but there was no movement in the yard.

Yan Funing also raised her hand, pinched the door knocker ring, and knocked.

There was a crisp sound of metal colliding, and soon there was movement in the yard.

Soon, the gate opened.

A middle-aged man who looked like a housekeeper asked with a sullen face, "What's the matter?"

Tong Cheng hurriedly said: "This girl brought Ganoderma lucidum here, your family..."

Before he finished speaking, the middle-aged man waved to Yan Funing.

Yan Funing opened the oil paper in the backpack.

The middle-aged man peeked in, then stood sideways and said seriously, "To discuss the price, go to the second room on the right."

"Okay." Yan Funing responded and walked in.

Tong Cheng and coachman Li Xiang followed in but were stopped by the middle-aged man.

"Whoever sells Ganoderma lucidum can enter. No one else can enter. This is the rule!"

Li the coachman said, "We came here together."

The middle-aged man obviously didn't believe it and closed the door expressionlessly.

Li the coachman stood on tiptoe and called inside: "Girl, if anything is wrong, shout loudly!"

Tong Cheng also said: "Yes, shout loudly."

Yan Funing's voice, now softer, came from inside: "Okay, thank you both, brothers!"

Yan Funing carried the backpack handle and followed the maid as they walked along the wooden corridor.

Looking around, most of the paths in the courtyard were paved with long corridors. The corridors were two feet above the ground, probably to block the cold air from the ground.

The entire courtyard was extremely quiet. There were many maids and servants, but no one spoke.

When they reached the second room on the right, the maid raised her hand to invite her in, and then left silently.

Yan Funing couldn't help but feel curious. Could it be that the owner of this house likes quietness?

Just as she was thinking, an old female voice was heard in the room.

"Since you're here to sell herbs, why don't you come in and negotiate the price?"

Yan Funing then stepped inside.

Walking around a landscape screen, she saw an old woman sitting at a desk by the window.

The old woman raised her eyelids and asked, "What kind of medicinal herbs are they?"

Yan Funing put down the backpack and took out two Ganoderma lucidum from it: "Look, do you want to keep these?"

"Collect," the old woman asked, "where did you find this red Ganoderma?"

"It's a cliffhanger."

"My bargaining rules here, young lady, please listen carefully." The old woman said with great style, "If you think it's feasible, then it's a deal. If you think it's not feasible, then the deal is over."

"Okay, please name a price."

Yan Funing understood that she had to listen to the other party in the negotiation.

Fortunately, if you feel dissatisfied, you don't have to make the deal.

The old woman said directly: "There is another rule here. The medicinal materials must be taken to a specialist for inspection. If they are feasible, a price will be quoted."

"This..." Yan Fu frowned, "Can I go with you when you check it out?"

The old woman said indifferently: "You can wait outside the room, you are not allowed to enter."

Yan Funing thought for a moment and said, "That's feasible."

I couldn't help but complain that there are so many rules here.

The old woman stood up and led her to the backyard.

As usual, we walked along the corridor, passed through the archway, and entered the backyard.

Suddenly, Yan Funing heard several violent coughs.

In fact, she had vaguely heard it when she was discussing with the old woman just now. Judging from the sound now, the person coughing was probably seriously ill.

The old woman turned around and shook her head at her, signaling her not to be curious.

The more this happened, the more Yan Funing wondered in her heart, could it be that the owner of this house was coughing?

To her surprise, the cough began to become lighter and the symptoms seemed to be relieved.

After a while, she followed the old woman to a house full of books.

The old woman pointed to the backpack, and Yan Funing reacted and took out two Ganoderma lucidum and gave it to her.

The old woman took the Ganoderma lucidum and went into the house.

After walking around the bookshelf, the old woman disappeared.

Yan Funing wanted to follow in, but was stopped by two servants who looked like book boys.
