Not long after Yan Funing left the blacksmith shop, Tong Cheng returned.
Tong Ya happily held up the paper bag to show him: "Daddy, my benefactor sister gave me this to eat."
"Has my benefactor sister been here?"
Tong Cheng hurried out of the shop and looked along the road towards the town.
"Well, my benefactor sister said she's going home." Tong Ya swallowed her saliva, "Daddy, I haven't eaten the candy my sister gave me yet. Can I have one now?"
Tong Cheng turned around and said happily, "Eat."
Tong Ya took one and bit off half of it and put it in her mouth: "So sweet."
--
On the other side, Yan Funing returned to the village.
When the three villagers in the same car got off and walked away, she took out fifteen coins and gave them to the coachman Li.
"Five cents is for the return trip, and ten cents is for the trip to the house."
Coachman Li only took five copper coins and returned ten to her.
"The house is only a short distance away, so it's free."
"Yes, the Tong family father and daughter will ride with me. Ten cents is too little for me." Yan Funing insisted. "Besides, Brother Li just went with us, which gave me courage. I can't thank you enough."
Coachman Li touched the back of his head and said embarrassedly, "Then I'll take it?"
Yan Funing smiled and said, "Take it!" Then she took out a bag of malt sugar from her backpack and said, "Here, this is a thank you gift."
"Ah?" Coachman Li was surprised. "Miss, you are too polite!"
Yan Funing put the backpack on her back and trotted away, turning her head and shouting as she ran, "Don't give it back to me, my backpack is too heavy and I can't run."
Li, the coachman, waved at her and said, "Drive slower, and I won't return it to you."
Li's mother came out and saw her son coming back. She casually asked, "How did you make money today?"
"Most of the villagers went to the county on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, so fewer people are going to the town today." Li, the coachman, opened the paper package and saw that it was malt candy. He smiled and said, "The young lady of the Fu family is a very honest person."
"The young lady from the Fu family? The daughter-in-law from Fu Wan's family?"
"Well, mother, do you know her?"
"The Hu family's mother-in-law and daughter-in-law said that in the future, if they see anyone from Fu Wan's family, they should scold her, especially her daughter-in-law."
"Mom, please don't mess around with the Hu family. That young lady is really nice. Here, she gave me some candy."
He handed a piece of candy to his mother.
"real?"
Mother Li couldn't believe it and put the candy in her mouth.
"Of course it's true. Just by giving her a ride today, I earned twenty coins, plus this bag of candy."
He dropped a candy into his mouth.
Mother Li ate something sweet and smiled, and the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes deepened.
"It's so sweet. The young lady from the Fu family must be sweet too."
Just because the candy is so sweet, she won't listen to the Hu family's mother-in-law and daughter-in-law and curse people indiscriminately.
--
Yan Funing returned home.
Because she had just jogged for a while, she was still out of breath, and her face was slightly flushed, as rosy as a peach or plum.
As soon as she entered the yard, she called out crisply, "Mom."
After hearing this, Wan Niang was supported by Fu Beimo and left the east wing.
"Fu Ning is back?"
"Well, mother, let's go to the main hall to talk." Yan Funing took Wan Niang's arm and whispered, "We made a lot of money today."
Wan Niang was delighted to hear this and called Fu Nan Yao to go to the main hall together.
Fu Ciyi was sitting by the window copying a book. When he heard her come back, he raised his eyelids, then lowered them again to continue writing.
The four of them entered the main room. Yan Funing put down her backpack, took out a silver ingot from her purse and put it in Wan Niang's hand.
"This is the money my husband earned from picking two Ganoderma lucidum flowers. Ten taels of silver."
"Capable, capable, my daughter-in-law is capable!"
Touching the heavy silver ingot, Wan Niang's eyes were filled with tears.
Given the current situation in their family, what would happen if they didn't have such a good daughter-in-law?
In her excitement, Wan Niang shouted to the west wing, "Ci Yi, come here quickly."
When Fu Ciyi entered the main hall, Wanniang showed him the silver ingot and said, "Your wife earned this."
Yan Funing said embarrassedly: "Mother, this is what my husband earned."
Wan Niang smiled and said, "You are the one who sold the Lingzhi, so you earned it."
Then he asked her to keep the silver.
Fu Ciyi said "hmm" lightly, lifted his robe and sat down.
At this time, Fu Nanyao saw that there were no clothes in the backpack, so she asked, "Didn't I tell you to buy clothes?"
Yan Funing explained, "There aren't any ready-made clothing stores in town, but there are two cloth shops. I'd like to discuss with everyone, how about getting some cloth and making clothes ourselves?"
Fu Nanyao snorted softly, "Don't you know how to sew? You can't sew, but I can. But why didn't you buy me some cloth?"
Wan Niang pulled Fu Nan Yao and asked, "How do you talk to your sister-in-law?"
"Mom, why do you always protect her?"
Fu Nanyao leaned on Wan Niang's shoulder like a spoiled child.
Wan Niang shook her head and sighed, "How could I be protecting you? It's clearly you who's speaking with such thorns."
Yan Funing was not annoyed at all. She took out two bags of malt sugar from her backpack and gave one to Fu Beimo first.
“Thank you, sister-in-law!”
Fu Beimo was so excited that he put the whole bag of malt sugar right under Fu Nanyao's nose to show off.
Fu Nanyao sat up straight, her face full of anger.
Yan Funing smiled and handed her the remaining bag of malt sugar: "Can you teach me how to make clothes?"
"Then it depends on how smart you are."
Fu Nanyao snatched the candy and hugged it in front of her, fearing that Yan Funing would change her mind.
"It's hard to spend silver ingots in town, so I didn't buy any cloth today," Yan Funing said with a lingering fear. "I was afraid someone would steal the silver ingots, so I kept them in my purse. I ran into a little trouble when I went to sell Ganoderma lucidum."
As he finished speaking, his voice became tearful.
