Chapter 105 Going to the City for Medical Treatment

"I've had a fever all night and it hasn't subsided yet. I've covered myself with two quilts but haven't sweated..."

When Doctor Gu heard this, he quickly put down his bowl and chopsticks, stood up and said, "I'll go with you to take a look."

When they arrived at Widow Liu's house and saw Chunhua's condition, even Doctor Gu frowned.

Jiang stood by and asked worriedly, "Doctor, how is it?"

Doctor Gu shook his head when he heard this.

Jiang's legs went weak and she almost fell to the ground.

Fortunately, Widow Liu was quick-witted and held her up.

"Doctor Gu, what's wrong? Is the child dying?" Widow Liu asked with a frown.

Although she didn't care about her granddaughter Chunhua, she had raised her for several years after all.

Now that I'm old enough to help with housework, it would be a shame if I died like this.

"No, the child's condition is a bit serious. I may be unable to help him. You should quickly take the child to the clinic in the city for treatment!"

Doctor Gu usually spoke slowly, but because he was anxious, he spoke faster.

Jiang's heart ached when she heard this.

Widow Liu looked hesitant.

Going to the city to see a doctor is more expensive than in the village, and you don’t even know if it can be cured. Is it worth it for a little girl?

However, in front of Doctor Gu, Widow Liu couldn't say anything, so she just said, "Since you're here, why don't you check on Dalong as well? He seems to have a low-grade fever today!"

Doctor Gu didn't expect that Widow Liu was not worried about Chunhua at all. She was only thinking about her son. He couldn't help but sigh and followed her to the east room to take Wang Dalong's pulse.

"He's fine now. If he wants to recuperate, he can rest for two more days. If he doesn't want to, he can go back to work in the fields now!"

Doctor Gu was dissatisfied with the different treatment of Widow Liu and was a little impolite in his words.

"The most urgent thing now is to send the child to the city for medical treatment. There is no time to delay!"

After hearing this, Wang Dalong immediately turned around nervously to look at Wang Zhengbao.

Seeing his son sleeping soundly on the kang, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief and asked in confusion, "Whose child is sick?"

Doctor Gu was speechless and said, "Your daughter, Chunhua!"

"Oh." When Wang Dalong heard it was Chunhua, he didn't take it to heart at all. "What serious illness can a child have?"

When Doctor Gu saw Widow Liu and Wang Dalong acting like this, he was so angry that he left in anger.

Walking out of the east room, I saw Jiang still slumped on the stool at the door of the west room. I couldn't help but step forward and said, "Mother Chunhua, hurry up and send the child to see a doctor. Otherwise, if the fever really makes him sick, you will regret it too late."

When Jiang heard this, her eyes suddenly turned red.

She wanted to take the child to the city, but not to mention that she was pregnant now, all the money in the family was in the hands of Widow Liu.

If Widow Liu doesn't agree, where can she take Chunhua?

Doctor Gu had said everything he needed to say, and there was nothing else he could do, so he could only shake his head and go home.

Jiang looked at Chunhua, who had been burned unconscious, gritted her teeth, went out and knelt in front of Widow Liu and said, "Mother, please let me take Chunhua to the city to see a doctor!"

Widow Liu was about to get angry when she heard this, but then she heard Jiang say again.

"Before, when Dafeng came back, she also said that Chunhua's appearance was a sign of her birth.

"I was thinking, when I raise her, if I can, thanks to Dafeng, marry her to the capital, then she can help Zhengbao, right?"

Jiang put her hand on her belly and continued, "Even if she's not as lucky as Dafeng, she can still get some dowry if she gets married, which is just enough for me to use to marry a wife."

After hearing what Jiang said, Widow Liu's anger subsided.

Her eyes swept over Chunhua's face. To be honest, this girl was indeed prettier than Dafeng when she was a child.

What Jiang said made sense. Chunhua is six years old now. If she is raised for a few more years, we can start looking for her to get married.

"You are pregnant, why are you going out? Just stay at home!

"Hurry up and set out the breakfast. I'll ask the second brother to go and get the car. I'll follow after we finish eating."

During breakfast, as soon as Wang Zhengbao heard that they were going into the city, he immediately wanted to go too.

"Grandma, you just said that as long as I drink that water, you can buy me anything I want. I want to go to the city to eat delicious food."

When Widow Liu heard this, she immediately said, "Okay, okay, I have to go anyway. I'll take you with me. I'll buy you whatever you want to eat and milk."

After breakfast, Widow Liu went into the house and fiddled with the kangqin for a long time. She took out a hundred coins, tied them around her waist, and covered herself with clothes.

She had already made up her mind that she would spend no more than half a catty of money on Chunhua's medical treatment, and if she spent more, she would just let God decide her own life or death!

Jiang was extremely anxious. No one, whether it was Widow Liu, Wang Dahu or Wang Zhengbao, could take care of Chunhua.

But she didn't dare say that she wanted to go, for fear of angering Widow Liu and going to the city to see a doctor without Chunhua.

Jiang could only wrap Chunhua tightly with layer upon layer of clothes, and brought another quilt to the car, using half of it as a cushion and the other half as a cover for her.

Widow Liu said impatiently, "That's enough!"

After she said that, she turned around, carried Wang Zhengbao into the car, and sat in the car herself.

At the moment of departure, Jiang finally mustered up the courage to say, "Mom, why don't you let me follow you.

“After we get to the city, you can take Zhengbao shopping while I accompany Chunhua to see the doctor.

"Otherwise, I'll have to trouble you to take care of the child at the clinic, and I won't have time to go shopping, right?"

Widow Liu saw through Jiang's thoughts at a glance and couldn't help but frown.

When Wang Zhengbao heard that he had no time to go out on the street, he immediately quit.
