It was just dawn outside when Wang Dalong was woken up by Widow Liu.
His fever hasn't subsided yet, and he feels drowsy and uncomfortable.
If the person who called him was not Widow Liu but someone else in the family, he would have definitely gotten angry a long time ago.
Wang Dalong suppressed his bad temper and asked with his eyes closed, "Mom, what's wrong?"
"It's time to take medicine!" Widow Liu held two bowls in her hands. When Wang Dalong was struggling to sit up, she put one bowl to his mouth and took a sip before he was prepared.
"Hmm—what is this?" Wang Dalong took a big sip and felt like he had a mouthful of ashes.
I swallowed the water subconsciously, but there were still a lot of residues left in my mouth.
Just when Wang Dalong wanted to spit out the residue in his mouth, Widow Liu immediately stuffed the bowl in her other hand into his mouth.
As soon as Wang Dalong opened his mouth, the sour and bitter medicine poured into him.
In order to avoid choking, he had to swallow along and drank all the medicine in the bowl in just a few gulps.
Now most of the residue in my mouth has been washed away by the medicine.
"Mom, what did you give me to drink just now?" Wang Dalong frowned, looking like he wanted to vomit.
"Didn't I tell you it's medicine? How could I possibly harm you?" Widow Liu said perfunctorily, "Alright, go back to sleep!"
Wang Dalong felt bitter and couldn't fall asleep even if he lay down, so he simply got up and planned to go to the toilet.
Then I saw Widow Liu holding a bowl of water with black ash floating in it and asking Jiang and Chunhua to drink it.
Jiang had already gotten up and was cooking porridge for breakfast. Although she was reluctant, she did not dare to disobey Widow Liu's order and drank it obediently.
Chunhua had a fever all night and didn't even have any medicine to take. Her face was still red and she was in a daze and unconscious.
Widow Liu was not as upset with Chunhua as she was with her son. She simply lifted the child out of the bed, pinched her cheeks to make her open her mouth, and poured the talisman water into her mouth.
"Cough cough——" Chunhua started coughing due to choking.
Widow Liu was afraid that the talisman water would be wasted, so she covered her mouth and forced her to swallow the water.
Tears welled up in Chunhua's tightly closed eyes.
Widow Liu didn't care at all. Seeing her throat roll up and down twice, she guessed that she must have swallowed it, so she let go and threw her back onto the kang.
She then went to the side room and gave Wang Dahu a big gulp of wine. Then she took the bowl back to the east room and gently woke up Wang Zhengbao who was still sleeping.
"Dabao, wake up and drink this."
Wang Zhengbao was sleeping soundly and was very impatient with the person who kept calling him, so he raised his arm and slapped the person.
Widow Liu quickly protected the bowl in her hand and continued to call Wang Zhengbao gently.
She helped her sleepy grandson up and coaxed him, "Be good, drink this. As soon as you finish it, grandma will buy you some candy."
Under the temptation of sugar, Wang Zhengbao didn't even open his eyes. He took the hand of Widow Liu, tilted his head back and drank everything in the bowl.
As soon as Wang Zhengbao took the talisman water in his mouth, his expression changed.
"Uh—what—"
Widow Liu quickly coaxed him: "This is good stuff, don't spit it out, don't spit it out, just swallow it, and grandma will buy you whatever you want to eat."
Wang Zhengbao frowned and swallowed the talisman water.
Widow Liu quickly brought him a glass of water for him to drink.
"Mom, what are you doing so early in the morning?" Wang Dalong frowned after coming back from the toilet.
"You're not fully recovered yet, and you're going out dressed so lightly?" Widow Liu turned around and saw him standing by the kang in his shirt and trousers. She said anxiously, "Hurry up and get on the kang to warm up! You're courting death!"
After tucking her son and grandson back into bed, Widow Liu turned around and left.
Looking at the talisman water that had been drunk up, she knelt down in front of the Buddhist shrine in the main hall, muttering to herself, praying that everything would go well at home.
Not only was she thinking about her family, she was also thinking about Wang Dafeng in the capital.
If Wang Dalong hadn't been sick with a fever, she would have sent him to Beijing to check on the situation. Now she can only worry secretly.
She had just stood up from the Buddhist shrine and turned around when she suddenly saw Jiang standing behind her.
Widow Liu was so frightened that she took two steps back and her lower back hit the altar, knocking over the incense burner on the table.
"You're going to die!" Widow Liu was so angry that she slapped Jiang in the face. "Why are you standing behind me without making any noise?"
Jiang staggered from the blow and endured the pain, saying, "Mother, Chunhua doesn't seem to be in good condition. Please ask Doctor Gu to come and see her!"
"Wasn't she fine just now?" Widow Liu didn't believe it at all, but when she saw Jiang looking at her with a pleading face despite the slap mark on her face, she walked into the west room half-believingly.
Chunhua was lying on the kang, covered with two quilts. Her face was red from the fever, and you could tell it was burning hot without touching it.
Widow Liu glanced at Chunhua's forehead and found that there was no sweat at all.
Don’t be afraid of fever, as long as you can sweat, you will be fine.
The most frightening thing is that you have a fever but don’t sweat, and all the heat is trapped inside your body.
Widow Liu finally believed that Jiang Shi was not exaggerating, and finally nodded reluctantly and said, "Then go and ask Doctor Gu to take a look!"
When Jiang heard that Widow Liu agreed, she didn't even bother to put on another piece of clothing, but turned around and walked out quickly.
Doctor Gu had already stood up and was sitting opposite his wife having breakfast.
Seeing that Doctor Gu was eating, Jiang couldn't help but feel a little hesitant.
"What's wrong? Is your husband still not feeling better?" Doctor Gu asked.
"No, it was Chunhua. She accidentally fell into a basin of water yesterday and caught a cold.
