"Mom, just don't worry. I promise it won't delay tomorrow's work."
After Ye Lao Da finished speaking, he turned around and said, "Lao Si, I'll go ahead this time, you follow me."
"Okay, don't worry, big brother."
Boss Ye led the way, and after walking along the official road for a while, they turned left and onto a small road.
It’s strange to say, but since the family pulled the car onto the small road, Qingtian, who had been crying breathlessly before, quickly calmed down.
Seeing this, Mrs. Ye was delighted. It seemed that there should be no problem with this road.
But the small road was not as smooth as the official road after all. Old Mrs. Ye was sitting in the car. She wanted to close her eyes and rest for a while, but she was shaken so much that she couldn't rest at all.
Old Mrs. Ye wanted to complain, but when she saw Qingtian finally stopped crying, she swallowed the words that were on the tip of her tongue.
But what no one expected was that although Boss Ye had walked this road before, he was alone at the time and didn't feel anything while walking.
But this time, with two people pulling the cart, the road became narrower and narrower as they went forward. If the wheel tilted slightly, it would sink into the ditch or grass on the side of the road.
Ye Lao Da and Ye Lao Si could only be extremely alert and use more strenuous postures than usual to try to keep the wheels just pressed to the sides of the road.
Seeing the sweat dripping down the foreheads of Ye Lao Da and Ye Lao Si, Old Lady Ye finally couldn't help but said, "Look at you two. You don't want to take the good road, but you insist on asking for trouble by coming here to take the mountain path.
"If we had taken the main road, we would have been home by now. How far have we gone?
"In my opinion, the road ahead will only get harder and harder to walk on. It would be better to turn back. Maybe we can get home faster than just walking all the way this way."
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Ye hugged Qingtian tightly without saying a word.
Ye Laoda looked back at his wife's face, then at his daughter whose eyes were swollen from crying, and said in a flattering tone: "Mom, we've come this far. I promise the road ahead is still passable. The fourth child and I will work hard, it won't be a problem."
After hearing what her son said, Mrs. Ye could only sigh and say, "It's up to you."
After she said that, she simply lay down in the car, grabbed a blanket and wrapped herself tightly, and prepared to take a nap for a while, out of sight, out of mind.
Although the car was very bumpy, Mrs. Ye had gone out early in the morning and had not been able to take a nap, so she was really sleepy at this time and fell asleep in the slight shaking of the flatbed car.
Old Mrs. Ye fell asleep, but the two brothers soon encountered a problem.
I don’t know if someone came to dig up the soil or saplings, but when we were almost halfway through the mountain road, we suddenly saw a large landslide.
Rocks, tree trunks, soil and other messy things poured down from above, blocking the road ahead.
The two brothers were afraid of waking up Old Mrs. Ye, so they could only discuss in a low voice.
"I'll go over and take a look. If it's not serious, we can figure out a way to push the mud down there."
Boss Ye frowned, unable to accept that he had walked so far up the mountain road and was actually blocked and unable to go any further.
He rolled up his trouser legs, tucked his robe into his belt, climbed up carefully to take a look, and his face instantly became even uglier.
From that angle just now, the landslide didn't seem serious.
When we got to the top, we found that there was not only the area in front of us. Most of the mountain on the right side of the mountain road had slid down and was blocked by the mountain road, stopping its movement.
But the consequence is that this road is completely blocked.
Boss Ye came down and shook his head, saying, "We can't go any further.
"Forget pulling the cart. I can't even climb over it myself."
"What should we do?" Ye Lao Si was anxious. "Brother, it's getting late, and we don't have enough things with us. We can't just rest here in the woods, right?"
Boss Ye quickly weighed the options in his mind and said in a deep voice, "There's no other way. We can only return the way we came."
"If mother finds out, we'll both be finished!" Ye Laosi couldn't help but shudder when he heard that.
The two brothers struggled to turn the car around and returned the same way.
Old Mrs. Ye didn't sleep well last night, and she got up very early today. She was busy for most of the day and was actually very tired.
She felt like she had just closed her eyes for a moment, but when she opened them again she was startled.
It was pitch black all around. If it weren't for the crescent moon hanging in the sky and the flatbed truck beneath her still moving, Old Mrs. Ye would have thought she had arrived in the underworld.
"Eldest brother? Fourth brother?" Old Mrs. Ye called out twice tentatively.
"Mom, are you awake?" There was a sense of guilt in Boss Ye's voice.
Ye Laosi was so focused on pulling the cart that he didn't even say a word.
Old Mrs. Ye knows her son very well.
Although I couldn't see Boss Ye's expression, but when I heard his tone and combined it with Boss Ye's attitude, I knew that something was wrong.
"Tell me, what's going on?" Old Mrs. Ye's voice turned cold.
"Mom..." Ye Laosi hesitated and couldn't say a complete sentence for a long time.
"Just shut up now, what's the use of mother? All you know is to call her mother.
"Boss, you speak."
Hearing Old Lady Ye’s direct call, Old Master Ye said helplessly: “Mom, we were halfway up the mountain road when we suddenly discovered that the place ahead had collapsed.
"Rocks and mud fell from the mountain, completely blocking the road.
"They're pulling a cart, but I'm afraid I can't even climb over there by myself...
"Then what?"
Old Mrs. Ye actually already had the answer in her mind at this time, but she found it really hard to believe, or rather, she was unwilling to believe the answer she had thought of.
