When Mu Zheng came here, he bought a lot of good ingredients.
Mrs. Ye’s cooking skills are beyond reproach.
Both the host and the guests enjoyed the meal very much, except for Mr. Cen who was a little distracted.
After everyone had eaten and drunk their fill, Mu Zheng sent his men to Wang Guangping's house to rest, while he himself prepared to stay in the west room with Mr. Cen for one night.
Who knew that I would have such a miserable sleep that night.
Shi Lei and Meng Yu went up the mountain to help pull the sika deer today. They were both very tired. After eating and drinking, they lay down and fell into a deep sleep as soon as they touched the pillow.
Especially Meng Yu, his snoring was so loud that it was deafening.
Mu Zheng is a martial artist with sharp senses.
Moreover, being suddenly in an unfamiliar environment, his body's instinct would make him extra alert.
At first he thought it was Shi Lei snoring, but when he listened carefully he found it was Meng Yu. It really is true that you can't judge a person by his appearance.
It would have been fine if it was just the snoring, but Mr. Cen on the other side was also not sleeping well, tossing and turning from time to time.
Every time Mu Zheng fell asleep, he would be woken up immediately.
He couldn't help but regret that he might as well go live in the village chief's house with his men.
Although those men were not very hygienic and the room probably smelled of stinky feet, at least I could sleep there.
The next day, before dawn, Mu Zheng heard some noise in the yard and got up quietly.
He went out and looked, then asked in surprise, "Brother Ye, what are you doing up so early?"
"I'm afraid you're in a hurry to leave, so I'll get up and light the fire in the kitchen so I can make breakfast for you later." Boss Ye walked into the kitchen carrying firewood.
Mu Zheng also followed in.
"Why are you up so early? Do you really want to just leave without saying hello?"
"Don't even mention it. Meng Yu snored all night last night and I barely slept at all."
Although it was common for him to go without sleep for two or three days when he went out on business, Mu Zheng still felt a little tired when he couldn't sleep.
Mu Zheng said, and couldn't help yawning.
Seeing that Mu Zheng's eyes were blue, it seemed that he had not slept well. Boss Ye was about to say something when footsteps were heard in the yard again.
The two of them looked outside together, and unexpectedly, the person coming out of the main house was Mr. Cen.
"Why are you up so early? It's not even dawn yet!" Boss Ye was surprised and quickly helped the man into the kitchen.
It's already very cold outside at this time of year. At least the fire has just been lit in the kitchen. Although it's not as warm as in the house with a kang, it's much warmer than outside.
When Elder Cen came in and saw Mu Zheng, he immediately said a little embarrassedly: "I was tossing and turning all night. Did it affect your sleep?"
"It has nothing to do with you. I can't sleep in a new place anyway." Mu Zheng saw the fire in the stove burning and put another piece of firewood in it. "But you did toss and turn a lot last night. What's bothering you?"
"Nothing, just..." Just as Mr. Cen opened his mouth, the kitchen door was opened from the outside.
Mrs. Ye opened the door and lowered her head to adjust her sleeves.
She thought that Boss Ye was the only one lighting the fire in the kitchen, so she walked in and asked, "What do you think we should cook for breakfast? How about some venison pancakes?"
Mu Zheng's mouth watered when he heard this, and he quickly replied, "If it's not too much trouble, that would be great. Why don't you let me help you take care of the sika deer?"
"Oh my God!" Mrs. Ye was so frightened by his sudden words that she almost jumped up.
"Why are you up so early? Why is the old man up so early too? You guys are squatting in the kitchen before dawn. Did you not eat enough last night?"
"I'm full, I'm full." Mu Zheng said quickly, but then he scratched his head and said with a smile, "But if my sister-in-law makes venison patties, I can still eat it!"
"Then make venison patties. Boss, go pick out a deer and prepare it."
"Brother Ye, let me help you." Mu Zheng followed Boss Ye and left.
Elder Cen stayed in the kitchen, rolled up his sleeves and washed his hands, saying, "I'll help you."
"No, it's so early now, you should go back and take a nap." Sister Ye said quickly, "I'll ask the third daughter-in-law to get up and help me."
But Mr. Cen started to help knead the dough without saying anything.
Mrs. Ye had no choice but to stop arguing with him.
But Mr. Cen seemed to be worried today. He was kneading dough with his hands, but he seemed to be hesitant to speak.
"Old man, although I don't know where my father is now, since I have recognized you, I will treat you as a family member and respect you well.
"Don't worry about what you have to say, just say it."
"I just want to ask you, how did your father teach you to cook?"
When Mr. Cen was eating the dishes cooked by Mrs. Ye in the county town before, he actually noticed a little problem.
But when I heard the news of my adopted son, and recognized my granddaughter and great-granddaughter, the excitement instantly diluted that little bit of discomfort.
Yesterday, when I tasted Mrs. Ye’s cooking again, this feeling of incongruity was suddenly awakened again.
But Mrs. Ye's career has just gotten on track, and many people have praised her, which has just given her confidence.
Mr. Cen was worried that if he pointed out her problems, it would dampen her enthusiasm and the self-confidence she had worked so hard to build up.
Mrs. Ye didn't think too much about it and thought that Mr. Cen just missed his father.
After all, she had never lived with Mr. Cen, but her father was Mr. Cen's adopted son, whom he had taught seriously and had high hopes for.
So she tried hard to recall her childhood and told Mr. Cen everything she could remember.
Mr. Cen listened very carefully and gradually discovered the problem.
