Early the next morning, Boss Ye set out up the mountain again, carrying the pancakes made for him by Sister Ye San, as well as a water bag, pickles and other things.
Before leaving this time, Boss Ye specifically told his family, "I'm going to go deep into the mountains this time. It will probably take three or four days or four or five days before I'm back. Don't worry."
"Can you go alone? How about asking a few more people to keep you company?" Old Mrs. Ye was still a little worried.
Although Boss Ye has never failed in hunting over the years, the situation in the mountains is unpredictable and no matter how skilled he is, he cannot guarantee success.
If something unexpected happens, there will be no one around to help or come back to deliver a message.
But Boss Ye was very persistent, so Old Lady Ye didn't say much.
After sending him out, I came back and lit a stick of incense in front of the old man's spirit tablet.
"Old man, if you are still alive, please bless the boss to come back safely."
This time, Boss Ye planned to go deep into the mountains, so he spent almost the entire first and second days traveling over mountains and hills.
In fact, they encountered quite a few small animals along the way, but Boss Ye did not stay for long except to drink water, eat and sleep.
Because he was worried that the smell would attract wild animals, he didn't even light a fire along the way except to boil some water, and relied entirely on pancakes and pickles to fill his stomach.
When we walked to the back, even the vague mountain path trampled out by the runners was gone.
Everything depends on Boss Ye himself to determine the direction, and he often has to use a machete to clear away the various bushes and branches that grow wildly before he can continue moving forward.
They walked like this until the afternoon of the next day. Boss Ye was really tired and thought about resting early today.
He found a place with water, built a small fire, boiled some water, let it cool, and then filled the water bag.
Then he ate the pancakes with the remaining water in the pot.
By the time he finished eating and put out the fire, it was still bright outside.
Boss Ye packed up his things and planned to find a tree to climb up and rest for the night.
But just as he was looking for a suitable big tree, he found that some nearby tree trunks had marks of being scratched by wild animals.
Just looking at the scratches, it was clear that the beast was no small creature, at least a jackal, tiger or leopard.
After careful observation, Boss Ye discovered that these scratches were not only on the bottom of the tree trunk, but also on higher places.
It can be seen that it is a beast that can only climb trees.
Boss Ye immediately thought it might be a leopard.
I have entered its territory!
Boss Ye suddenly didn't dare to sleep in the tree anymore.
Given the leopard's ability to climb trees, sleeping on a tree is equivalent to delivering food to the leopard!
Boss Ye quickly cleaned up the traces he left behind and then left the leopard's territory.
He walked for more than half an hour and finally found a cave.
Although the place inside is not big, it is relatively dry and there are no signs of wild animals living there.
He took great pains to move a few large stones, and after entering the cave, he sealed the entrance and lay down with peace of mind.
He was already very tired after tossing and turning for a long time today, but after lying down, Boss Ye couldn't fall asleep.
It’s not because I’m worried about danger at night.
But whenever he thought that there might be a leopard nearby, Boss Ye couldn't help but wonder if he could catch it.
As soon as this thought came up, Boss Ye rejected it immediately.
The fighting power of an adult leopard is only slightly inferior to that of a tiger.
Thinking back to the last time we hunted a tiger, it was the result of collaboration among so many people.
Not to mention that leopards are faster than tigers.
If no one had restrained the leopard, he might not even have had a chance to shoot an arrow.
But strangely enough, the more he denied this idea in his mind and the more he listed the insurmountable difficulties one by one, the more he couldn't suppress the urge to give it a try.
Boss Ye tossed and turned for most of the night, and suddenly he slapped his forehead and sat up.
I was really too obsessed with trivial matters before.
Who says you have to use a bow and arrow to hunt cheetahs!
Thinking of this, Boss Ye suddenly understood.
After coming up with an idea, Boss Ye lay down again and fell asleep quickly this time.
The next day, Boss Ye got up early, had a simple meal, and pushed the stone away and went out.
Before leaving, he blocked the entrance of the cave with stones, planning to come back here to rest at night.
After leaving the cave, Boss Ye first set some traps around and then climbed up the cliff.
He looked down at the area where the scratches were found yesterday, intending to see if the leopard would come to this area.
But unfortunately, he lay on the cliff for a whole day but did not find any trace of the leopard.
As the sky was getting dark, Boss Ye got up, found a big tree, tied a rope to it, and climbed down along the rope to retrieve the hare and pheasant that were caught by the lasso.
He broke the neck of a pheasant and threw it into the woods where he had found the scratch marks yesterday.
Then he ate something simple and went back to the cave to sleep and replenish his strength.
Boss Ye throws his prey there every day.
The pheasant that died on the first day was not moved, but some footprints were found around it.
The next day, Boss Ye left behind a pheasant that was not completely dead.
By the evening, the pheasants had been eaten until only their feathers were left.
On the third day, Boss Ye tied a wild rabbit to a tree, but it was taken away directly. No one knew where it went.
…
Hard work pays off. After waiting for a few days, Boss Ye finally saw a leopard appear in his sight.
