Old Lady Ye followed the servants of the palace and walked in with a heavy heart.
Ye Laosi didn't think so much at all, but instead became interested in the layout of the guards in the palace.
But after taking a few more glances and realizing that all the palace guards were looking at him with concern and vigilance, Ye Laosi suddenly realized that this was the palace and he shouldn't do this.
Fortunately, he looked away in time, otherwise Pei You would have wanted to come over and talk to him in person.
Following the servants of the palace to the courtyard where Qingtian lived, he was shocked by Old Lady Ye and Old Fourth Ye as soon as he entered the courtyard.
They had never seen such an elaborately decorated courtyard before.
The small courtyard where Qingtian lives has three entrances.
The first courtyard is spacious and clean, without too many things. After walking through the hall to the second courtyard, the first thing I saw was the swing hanging from the tree.
The trunk of the big tree in the yard is very thick and looks like it is at least a hundred years old. Yet, there is a swing hanging on it.
Fortunately, Qingtian is young and not too heavy, otherwise this big tree would be really pitiful.
There is a wisteria tree on the other side of the yard. It is now past its flowering period and has been trimmed very neatly, with no dead branches or leaves to be seen.
The wisteria trellis is connected to a small bridge, and at the other end of the bridge stands a rockery.
Under the bridge is fresh water brought in from outside, surrounding the rockery. There are more than a dozen fat koi swimming slowly in the water.
This courtyard alone is larger than the front yard of Ye’s old house in his hometown.
Old Lady Ye was astonished. It was normal for a place in the countryside to be large, but it was really not easy to have such a large courtyard in the royal palace in the capital.
She was indeed right. Originally, Prince Rui's Mansion did not have such a large courtyard.
Prince Rui had the two courtyards connected together and one of the rows of houses demolished to create such a large three-courtyard house with a garden for his daughter.
The servants of Prince Rui's mansion brought Old Madam Ye and Old Fourth Master Ye here and stopped. They said to a maid in the corridor, "Sister Lan Yi, this is Old Madam Ye and Old Fourth Master Ye, here to visit the princess."
Hearing that it was someone from the Ye family, Lan Yi immediately stood up and said politely, "Please wait a moment, Madam Ye and Ye Silang. I will go in and pass the message to you two."
Lan Yi came out again not long after he went in, took over the servant's position, and led the two of them inside.
The furnishings in the house are even more dazzling.
Prince Rui and Princess Rui were eager to arrange all the good things for Qingtian.
Not to mention what she wore and carried, what was on her bed, even the curtains hanging in the room had to be tribute-level good stuff.
Every piece of furnishing in the house is a fine product, and there are many interesting Western gadgets.
The most rare thing is that when so many good things are put together, they not only do not make people feel messy, but instead have a different kind of harmony. This really commends the taste of Princess Rui.
Lan Yi led the group inside and whispered to the two of them, "The princess's fever just subsided yesterday, and she's not in very good spirits today."
Old Mrs. Ye felt a little relieved when she heard this. No matter what the reason was, it was always a good thing that the fever had gone down.
Following Lan Yi into the inner room, she found that only Mrs. Ye and Birui were in the room, and Mrs. Ye breathed a sigh of relief again.
Fortunately, Princess Rui was not there, otherwise it would have been too tense and awkward.
"Mom, Fourth Brother, you're here." Mrs. Ye stood up and greeted the two of them.
Birui greeted the two of them, then tactfully followed Lan Yi out.
"I will be waiting outside. Princess, if you have any instructions, just call me."
Seeing that all the outsiders had left, Old Mrs. Ye hurried to the bedside and looked at Qingtian who was sitting on the bed wrapped in a quilt.
After being sick for several days, Qingtian's face, which was not fat to begin with, became even smaller, and his eyes looked even bigger.
The little bit of baby fat that had been hard-earned on her cheeks had now completely disappeared.
"Grandma, Fourth Uncle!" Qingtian called out obediently.
"Oh, my dear, why did you suddenly get sick? Look how thin you are. It makes grandma so sad."
Old Mrs. Ye sat sideways on the edge of the bed and hugged Qingtian tightly in her arms. She found that the child was light and thin, and she felt even more distressed.
"What's going on? Are you not used to the new place?
"Although Qingtian's health isn't good, he hasn't gotten sick so easily before!"
Old Mrs. Ye was very distressed, and since there were no outsiders in the rooms on either side, she started to speak without restraint.
Ye Lao Si quickly stopped her and whispered, "Mom, there are some things you can say, but there are others you shouldn't say carelessly. After all, we are in the palace, and there are always ears."
"I don't care if the walls have ears or a mouth. He's a healthy kid. He was fine when he returned to the village a few days ago. How come he's sick now?"
As Old Mrs. Ye spoke, she calculated the days in her mind. The child had been ill for several days and the fever had just subsided. No matter how healthy the child was, he couldn't stand being sick like this!
Mrs. Ye also explained, "It's inevitable for children to get sick, and Prince Rui and Princess Rui are both very worried about Qingtian.
"Not only did they invite the imperial physician to see the child, they also specially went to Huangjue Temple to invite the abbot to come and examine the child. They all said that the child is fine, so don't worry, mother."
"If there's nothing wrong, why are you still..." When Old Mrs. Ye said this, she suddenly realized that she had not only invited the imperial physician, but also invited a master to come and see.
Doesn’t that mean that Qingtian’s illness this time is not actually a physical problem?
