Chapter 375 Is there a father like you?

“So the clan sets aside a portion of money every year to help clan members who are in financial difficulty.

"Orphans whose parents have both passed away, childless elderly people, and people with illnesses like Ye Laizi can all get some food or money every year.

"Before, your eldest brother couldn't stand him beating and scolding the children, so he went to the clan leader to complain.

"The clan leader sent someone to tell Ye Laizi about it, and told him that if he continued to behave like this, his share of the money would be cut off.

"Ye Laizi was jealous of your family's good life, and now he's made them even more hostile."

"He's right to beat the child!" Mrs. Ye rolled her eyes. "If he had the guts, he should have done it openly. Using such shady tactics is nothing."

Mrs. Ye said, "I hope this will scare him off and he won't cause trouble in the future!"

"You have a large family, so you're not afraid of him, but you still have to be on guard against his underhanded tactics. Go back and tell your children to stay away from him if they see him."

"Okay, thank you, Uncle Dongkui." Mrs. Ye took out a bundle of small root vegetables from her backpack and stuffed it into Ye Dongkui's hand, saying, "We dug up a lot of small root vegetables today. Uncle Dongkui, take some home to eat."

"Oh, I don't want it." Ye Dongkui refused repeatedly, "I've dug for this stuff in the mountains before, but it's really hard. You guys should keep it for yourselves!"

"It's not that difficult. It will be a bit hard to clean up when we get back. We have got half a basket. Please take it!" Mrs. Ye insisted on stuffing the small root vegetables into Ye Dongkui's hands before going home.

Just as Mrs. Ye said, although the small root vegetables are delicious, they are really hard to clean.

The small root vegetables dug up by Mrs. Ye Dasao and Mrs. Ye Sansao were quite thick, but not as thick as bean sprouts.

The roots and soil underneath were tangled together, like trying to straighten out a bunch of tangled hair. It was not a job for anyone without patience.

Even Old Mrs. Ye, seeing so many small root vegetables, was delighted but also began to feel a little worried.

"When will we be able to choose this?"

"Mom, don't worry, get dinner ready first, and I'll take care of the rest."

"There are so many people in our family. After dinner, we all picked the vegetables together and cleaned them up quickly." Mrs. Ye was very happy to see the small root vegetables. "I am so proud of this one. I thought I would not be able to eat it anymore!"

A few people quickly picked out a basin of small root vegetables. Mrs. Ye took it outside to fetch water and washed it several times before chopping it up to prepare scrambled eggs in the evening.

Several people in the room were still picking vegetables.

As the sun was setting, the private school finally ended. Ye Changxue was the first to pack up his things and stood at the door waiting for his elder brother and younger brothers.

His stomach had been growling with hunger for a long time, so he kept urging them, "Can you guys hurry up? Are you so reluctant to go home for dinner?"

"You think everyone is like you, starving like a ghost every day."

Ye Changrui packed his schoolbag and went to help the youngest Nian Nian pack her things. He walked out of the house carrying one in each hand, and then the twins came out one after another.

Ye Changzhao, carrying his schoolbag, skipped after Ye Changxue and said, "Second brother, you eat the most at noon, so you get hungry the fastest!"

"You know nothing. You'll know when you're my age."

"I don't know shit. I just know that my elder brother is just like you!" Ye Changzhao said, making a face at him, then ran home.

"Stop right there, kid! How dare you talk to your brother like that? You have no respect for your elders. I'll catch you if I catch you..."

Ye Changxue had just chased for a few steps when he saw someone suddenly rushing out from the side of the road.

Ye Changzhao couldn't stop and bumped into someone, and both of them fell to the ground.

Ye Changxue quickened his pace and ran over, pulling Ye Changzhao up from the ground. Protectively, he said to the person opposite him, "Why did you suddenly rush out? Can you afford to pay for the damage you inflicted on my brother?"

He wanted to say something else, but he felt Ye Changzhao pulling at his sleeve.

"Second brother, does Ye Laizi look a little strange? He's so scary..."

Only then did Ye Changxue see clearly that the person who had just rushed out from the roadside was actually Ye Laizi.

He was in a mess, his crotch was wet, and there was blood on his sleeves. A closer look revealed a wound on his wrist.

"Could he have been bitten by a mad dog?" Ye Changxue immediately protected Ye Changzhao behind him.

When they were outside the Great Wall, they saw that people who were bitten by mad dogs would become extremely afraid of water, go crazy, and then die soon.

The other three children also caught up. Ye Changrui and Ye Changxue protected their three younger brothers and looked vigilantly at Ye Laizi who was sitting on the ground.

In fact, Ye Laizi didn't mean to block the Ye family children here. He just came down from the mountain and was about to go home. When he passed by here, he saw Ye Changzhao running over, so he rushed out unconsciously.

But when he saw that all five children of the Ye family were there, and Ye Changrui and Ye Changxue were only eleven or twelve years old, but they were almost as tall as him, he immediately became timid again.

Seeing Ye Laizi sitting on the ground, neither getting up nor speaking, Ye Changxue turned his head and asked softly, "Brother, is there something wrong with his brain?"

"Don't worry about him, let's just take a detour." Ye Changrui said cautiously.

If Ye Laizi is really afraid of water, it would be terrible if you were bitten by him when passing by him.

Thinking of this, Ye Changrui called his younger brothers to go back and took a slightly longer route home.

At the Ye family's side, because they have a pocket watch that can be used to check the time on sunny days, Mrs. Ye can calculate the time when the children will come back very accurately every day.
