Chapter 163 A Bunch of Desperate Thugs

Despite the excruciating pain throughout his body, which was trembling almost uncontrollably, Zhu Yu gritted his teeth and threw back the covers: "Where is he? Where is he? Has Ayan gone there yet?"

Zhu Yu's face was pale, and he seemed to have shouted those words.

Li Feng was baffled: "Master Xi, Master Xi carried the person to Mr. Lu's residence, Zhaoxi Garden. But, but Mr. Lu doesn't seem to be at the residence."

Zhu Yu felt waves of darkness engulfing him. Ayan wasn't in the manor. How could he not be in the manor? Didn't he send Ruoling back to the palace? He should have come back long ago.

He propped himself up on the bed, his voice hoarse: "How badly is she hurt?"

"Lord Xi said that the maid was barely clinging to life, and her chances of survival are slim."

He only had one breath left!

The odds are against them!

"What did you say?" Zhu Yu's voice trembled. "Lu Xiaoyun, you can't get hurt!"

If you dare to die, even if you go to the King of Hell, I will never let you go!

Li Feng blinked in confusion: "Lord Xi said that the maid was barely clinging to life, and I'm afraid she's in grave danger."

"A maid?"

Li Feng nodded: "Yes, the maid is the maid of the wealthy merchant who was robbed. She didn't die. The prince said she should have seen the appearance of the bandits. He asked Lord Xi to bring her back to the manor and ask Mr. Lu to treat her."

Zhu Yu nearly choked on his breath. He glared at Li Feng and said, "Can't you just say it all at once?!"

Li Feng was puzzled and couldn't figure out for a long time which sentence he hadn't said completely, or where he had offended the young lady.

Zhu Yu slumped back onto the bed, only then realizing that he was covered in cold sweat.

"Send Xi Yi back to the Prince's side immediately, and bring all the secret guards and personal guards from the manor. Does the life or death of a maid really matter that much!"

Li Feng was startled by his young mistress's outburst and immediately ran towards Zhaoxi Garden.

Seeing that Lu Yuyan was not there, Xi Yi had no choice but to take some medicine from his room, sprinkle it on the maid's wound, and then bandage it up simply. He then sent someone to the street to fetch a doctor to treat her.

After handing the maid over to the servants in the mansion, he received the message that Li Feng had asked the princess to convey to him. Thinking that what the princess said made sense, he left only fifty guards to guard the mansion, while he took the rest of the guards and hurriedly headed towards Xizi Forest.

After sending Princess Ruoling back to the palace, Lu Yuyan was still worried about his older sister, so he rushed to Xizi Forest.

His older sister, with Zhu Yu's personality that always seemed to offend people, was practically a walking target.

If another assassination attempt like the last one were to occur, how could twenty guards from the Prince An's residence be enough?

Seeing Lu Xiaoyun from afar, Lu Yuyan breathed a long sigh of relief. Thank goodness, his older sister was alright.

"Ayan, what brings you here? Didn't you run into Xiyi?" Lu Xiaoyun and the others, seeing that they had searched enough and found no survivors, prepared to return to their residence.

"You sent Xi Yi back first?" Lu Yuyan asked instead of answering. Feng Yan was injured, and Wu Chuan's back was also bruised. Among the group of people that his sister brought, Xi Yi had the highest martial arts skills.

"Oh, we found a survivor, she's barely clinging to life. I told him to bring her back quickly. You should be able to save her; maybe she's discovered some clues. After all, it's a human life."

“You…” Lu Yuyan didn’t know what to say to his older sister. What if she encountered danger?

"Alright, is the investigation finished?"

"Hmm, that's about right."

"It's getting dark, let's hurry back home."

"good."

Just as the two were about to mount their horses, a sharp arrow suddenly flew rapidly towards them, aimed directly at Lu Xiaoyun's forehead.

Lu Xiaoyun's pupils contracted sharply, and she swerved to the side, simultaneously pulling Lu Yuyan away. The arrow grazed Lu Xiaoyun's hair and struck the opposite tree with a clang, its fletching vibrating.

What amazing archery skills!

Lu Yuyan's face turned pale with fright.

Before the two could recover, they saw a large, dark mass of people rushing towards them, numbering in the hundreds.

These people were carrying bows and arrows or machetes, dressed in short cloth clothes, and with headscarves wrapped around their heads.

A bunch of desperados!

"Your Highness, this group of people must be the bandits who kill and rob!" Jiang Chuan shouted as he and the guards of the Prince's Palace protected Lu Xiaoyun and Lu Yuyan in the middle.

The arrows in those people's hands kept shooting at them like a swarm of locusts crossing a river. Relying on their large numbers, they quickly surrounded Lu Xiaoyun and the others.

It seems that escaping is impossible unless we deal with them first.

Lu Xiaoyun clenched her fists and ordered in a deep voice, "Kill!"

The guards gripped their swords and charged towards the bandits. Just as Zhu Yu had said, the guards of the Prince An's mansion were all elites, and in a short while, several bandits fell.

Jiang Chuan stayed by Lu Xiaoyun's side. Only he knew that the prince had lost his martial arts skills, and that this Mr. Lu was obviously a coward who could only hold them back and was of no help whatsoever.

"Your Highness, please take Mr. Lu and leave first!" Jiang Chuan protected the two of them while using his sword to deflect the blades that kept slashing at them.

Arrows whistled, halberds clashed, and battle cries shook the heavens.

Lu Xiaoyun pulled Lu Yuyan back step by step.

“Sister…” Lu Yuyan had never experienced such a scene of battle before, and all the color drained from her face.

Lu Xiaoyun was actually very afraid, but she was now the mistress of the Prince An's mansion and the backbone of the guards and Jiang Chuan, so she could not show the slightest fear.

"It's alright, the guards of the Prince's Palace are highly skilled in martial arts."

Although Lu Xiaoyun outwardly comforted Lu Yuyan, she was actually unsure herself, as they had too many people on their side.

Feng Yan, Wu Chuan, and Xi Yi, the three most skilled bodyguards, were all absent.
