Chapter 371 Evil Spirit

Granny He's face turned deathly pale. This young lady wasn't like this before; she used to be timid and incompetent. When did she become so sharp-tongued?

She knelt down before Madam Lu: "Madam, that's not what I meant."

Madam Lu was so angry that her face turned red and her neck bulged: "Granny He, get up. It's this brat who doesn't know the rules, what does it have to do with you?"

She turned to Zhu Yu: "Granny He is an old servant of mine, and also a kind of elder to you. How dare you speak like that! Tell me, why would Prince An and the Fifth Prince investigate Lin's death? Did you say something to them?"

Zhu Yu picked up the teapot, took the cup that was upside down on the table, and slowly poured himself a cup of tea.

Madam Lu was completely distraught. Did this woman not respect her as her grandmother at all? What kind of wretched child had Lin given birth to?

"You, you, you! Tell me, why did you ask the two princes to investigate these matters? You, a discarded woman, are entangled with two men outside the marriage. Do you even know the meaning of shame? Have you no shame at all? You're ruining the reputation of the Duke of Zhenguo's mansion!"

Old Madam Lu angrily pointed at Zhu Yu.

“You disappeared for a whole month after the Lantern Festival, and then you were missing for another six or seven days recently. Your older brother told me that you went to the temple to offer incense to the Lin family. I found it strange at the time. You would offer incense to the Lin family? Ha, now I understand. So you've been hanging out with the two princes all day long! You shameless little slut!”

Zhu Yu said coldly, "I advise Grandmother to think things through before she speaks next time, and to know what she should and shouldn't say, so as not to cause trouble for the Duke of Zhenguo's mansion."

He slammed his teacup down on the table: "You think you can just make up stories about His Highness Prince An and the Fifth Prince like that!"

His voice was neither too loud nor too soft, yet it startled Old Madam Lu. But as a grandmother, she couldn't allow a mere maid to frighten her.

She slammed her dragon-headed cane heavily onto the bluestone slab: "My Zhenguo Duke's Mansion is full of loyal martyrs. Half of this Great Zhou Dynasty was conquered by your grandfather. Even Prince An and the Fifth Prince have to respectfully address me as Madam Lu in front of this old woman!"

Zhu Yu's face immediately turned cold. If these words were to reach his father's ears by someone with ulterior motives, it would be disastrous.

The Emperor was already wary of the Duke of Zhenguo's overwhelming power and was looking for a reason to deal with the Duke of Zhenguo's mansion. But this old woman dared to say anything.

The old Duke of Zhenguo was an upright man, but he failed to keep his eyes open when it came to marrying this woman.

His eyes turned cold, and he shouted, "Does Grandmother think the Duke of Zhenguo's mansion has been too peaceful these past few years? How dare you say such things so casually! If Grandfather were still alive, see how he would punish you!"

Madam Lu was startled, realizing she had spoken too quickly and said something she shouldn't have. But how could she not save face after being scolded like this by her "granddaughter"?

"Guards! Guards! Drag this wretched child away and punish him according to family law! Punish him according to family law!"

The family rule of the Duke of Zhenguo's mansion was to kneel in the ancestral hall and be whipped twenty times.

Immediately, a burly old woman entered from outside, carrying a long box in her hands. Inside the box was a black gold horsewhip that she had specially ordered someone to find at the market the day before.

That whip is covered in barbs; one lash and the barbs will tear the flesh, surely leaving that brat with ripped skin and blood.

Let's see how stubborn you are then.

Zhu Yu sat there, took a sip of tea, and didn't even glance at the old woman or the barbed whip.

"Drag her away and give her a good beating!" Seeing that this wretched girl disregarded her so much, Old Madam Lu was trembling with anger and gave the servants a shrill order.

Madam Lu, being in the inner quarters, had never witnessed Zhu Yu piercing someone's brow or throat with an arrow on the day of the palace coup, thus killing them.

If she had known that her "granddaughter" was a highly skilled martial artist, she wouldn't have thought that calling in an old woman would make him submit.

Moreover, the old emperor only bestowed titles upon the Duke of Zhenguo and Lu Yucheng.

Two burly men immediately entered from outside. Zhu Yu had never seen these two men before. They were wearing short jackets, revealing two bare, dark arms with bulging muscles, indicating that they were extremely strong.

A thick hemp rope was tied around his waist, revealing his strong and powerful waistline. His two strong legs stood there like two mountains blocking Zhu Yu's way.

The moment these two entered, even Granny He, who was serving Old Madam Lu, and the other maids were startled.

The original owner of the body, Lu Xiaoyun, was a thin and weak girl with a small face, fair skin, and a slender waist. She looked like a frail little girl.

As soon as the two entered the room, they reached out to grab Zhu Yu.

Zhu Yu sat there, holding a cup of tea. Just as the two men were about to grab his arm, he brought the teacup to his lips with one hand and took a small sip. With the other hand, he struck out with a gust of wind and pushed one of the men forward, sending him flying like a kite with a broken string.

He coughed up a mouthful of blood and collapsed to the ground with a thud.

Before the other man could react, he was struck in the knee by the teacup in Zhu Yu's hand and fell to his knees with a thud. Zhu Yu, sitting on the stool, picked up the teacup lid with two fingers and swiftly threw it, hitting the man in the chest. The man kneeling on the ground was then pushed away by a strong force.

The next moment, he coughed up a mouthful of blood.

The old woman holding the whip had never seen such a scene before. Terrified, she immediately dropped the whip, knelt down with a thud, and kowtowed repeatedly, pleading, "Young lady, spare my life! Young lady, spare my life!"

This sudden change happened in an instant, leaving Old Madam Lu completely stunned.

What the heck is going on? When did this brat acquire such superb martial arts skills?

No, she's not Lu Xiaoyun, she must be possessed by an evil spirit, possessed by an evil spirit.

Old Madam Lu was terrified and screamed, "Help! Help! There's a ghost! There's a ghost!"

Zhu Yu stood up and walked step by step toward Old Madam Lu, glaring at her fiercely, and said in a low voice, "Grandmother, who are you calling a ghost?"

Madam Lu was so frightened that she fell back into her chair, her eyes wide with terror: "You, you, you, you're a ghost! You're a ghost! That wretched girl couldn't possibly have such high martial arts skills, you're not, you're not Lu Xiaoyun!"

Madam Lu's face turned deathly pale, and she began to tremble uncontrollably.

She knew how Fang treated that wretched girl Lu Xiaoyun. She originally thought that Lu Xiaoyun was the one who killed Lin Shi and was a complete jinx, so she turned a blind eye to Fang's actions.

She lost her mother at a young age and had no one to teach her. She followed Fang Shi around, calling her "mother" all the time, unaware that Fang Shi had already spoiled her. She was stupid, ignorant, vicious, and infatuated. How could she have such a scheming mind to secretly learn such superb martial arts skills?

The woman before him, Lu Xiaoyun, was sharp-tongued and relentless, exuding a chilling aura. Her attacks were ruthless and clean. If she could, the two men lying on the ground wouldn't have just coughed up blood; they would probably be corpses by now.

She is definitely not the original Lu Xiaoyun; she must be possessed by a ghost!
