Chapter 228 The Brilliantly Talented but Sickly Child 14

A few days later.

Two fresh pieces of gossip are circulating in the streets and alleys.

First, there was the sixth prince of the royal family, who was of questionable character. He allowed his subordinates to act recklessly and kill civilians at will; his mother's family also relied on the name of the sixth prince to flaunt their power and even committed acts such as seizing private land and abducting women!

The other one concerns the fourth young lady of the Prime Minister's family. Rumor has it that she is arrogant and domineering, deliberately making things difficult for innocent women, and completely lacking the demeanor of a noblewoman!

Their reputations suddenly plummeted and became extremely precarious!

More than half a month later, the people sent out by the Li and Sang families to investigate brought back news.

Li Yunyan is very likely a child of the Li family!

Although Li Yunyan's adoptive father was working in Yuezhou and she had no close relatives left, she still had some distant relatives in her hometown!

According to those who came to inquire, the faces of those distant relatives bore a resemblance to Li Mingzhu in their features.

They also presented relevant portraits as evidence.

Sang Shijing held the evidence in his hands, his eyes gleaming, and then neatly placed it on the table.

Today is the day to take the Ten-Ingredient Tonic Pill again.

Li Yunyan's sprain was intentional and has long since healed. She walked in with a smile, carrying a glass of warm water.

He handed the water glass to Sang Shijing and urged, "Young Master, drink this quickly! You can go downstairs after you drink it!"

Today she wore a light green dress, her almond-shaped eyes were bright and sparkling, and her clean and sweet appearance was touching.

Sang Shijing felt a surge of love in his heart. He took the water glass and drank it all in one gulp.

I felt the warmth flowing into my meridians, and my body felt much more vibrant than usual.

He clenched his itchy palms tightly, pondered for a long time, and then said, "Dr. Li, your background may be unusual."

"ah?"

Li Yunyan never expected that the first person to reveal this to her would be Sang Shijing!

How did he know?

Sang Shijing felt sorry for her, so he didn't intend to hide it from her!

He handed her all the evidence on the table. "This is the result of my investigation. Take a look!"

Li Yunyan took it with a puzzled look and examined it carefully.

Gradually, Li Yunyan lowered her head further and further, and eventually began to cry silently.

Crystalline tears dripped onto the paper. Sang Shijing heard the dripping sound and realized that she was crying as the tears soaked the paper.

In an instant, everything fell into chaos!

"Dr. Li! You...you mustn't cry!"

Li Yunyan raised her red eyes to look at him, her expression sorrowful, and asked, "Young Master, is all of this true? I really..."

Sang Shijing felt a dull pain in his heart and nodded.

"how so?"

Li Yunyan's eyes were filled with disbelief, "My parents... they are... how could this be?"

She cried so hard her eyes were streaked with tears, looking incredibly pitiful.

Then, as if she was about to lose her footing, her legs buckled and she fell straight into his arms.

When the beauty suddenly entered his arms, Sang Shijing froze, his mind going completely blank.

He endured for a while, but found that his hands were out of control and he wanted to hug her!

He knew he shouldn't do this, but a voice inside him kept telling him that he couldn't be too restrained when it came to matters of the heart!

Otherwise, he will lose her!

After crying in his arms for a while, Li Yunyan regained her senses. Just as she was about to get up, she felt a tightness around her waist.

A deep yet clear voice came from above, softly, with a slight tremor: "If you want to cry, then cry it out!"

She looked up at him and clearly saw heartache and pity in his eyes.

Li Yunyan could no longer hold back; she hugged him tightly and burst into tears.

Scalding tears soaked through his clothes and seeped into his heart.

Sang Shijing changed his one-handed embrace to two-handed, gently encircling her and patting her back softly.

After crying for an unknown amount of time, Li Yunyan finally stopped sobbing and embarrassedly broke free from his embrace.

Her face was flushed, and she lowered her head, not daring to look at him. She twisted the hem of her clothes with both hands, looking like she had done something wrong.

Sang Shijing's heart softened, and his ears turned bright red.

Afraid of frightening her, he tried to speak to her in the gentlest voice, "Yunyan, don't be afraid, I won't hurt you."

Li Yunyan quickly looked up at him, then lowered her head again, nodded, and ran out shyly.

The next day, the sun shone brightly.

Li Yunyan planned to have Sang Shijing go downstairs to try.

She pushed Sang Shijing's wheelchair to the top of the stairs, helped him up, and said somewhat nervously, "Young Master, watch your step when you go downstairs. If you feel weak, stop immediately!"

After thinking about it, I was still worried. "How about I just carry you down? I'm very strong!"

Although Sang Shijing really wanted to spend more time with her, he couldn't let the slender woman actually carry him downstairs.

With a gentle smile on his face, he said slowly, "Yunyan, I'm just physically weak, not crippled."

After speaking, he glanced subtly at Dongyan, who was itching to make a move.

Sensing the young master's murderous aura, Dong Yan stopped in his tracks, intending to help. He pretended to be busy, glancing left and then right. Hmm, the weather seems nice today!

Li Yunyan was amused by Sang Shijing and held his arms with both hands. "Then be careful. If you feel weak in the legs, lean on me!"

He nodded slowly, his eyes filled with tenderness that seemed to overflow with affection as he looked at her.

Step by step, with Li Yunyan's help, Sang Shijing slowly walked down the stairs.
