Chapter 9 An Unrealistic Dream
Shen Jin shook his head, constantly telling himself that it was just a passerby in his life, who hurriedly walked by and never returned.
I shouldn't be sad for him...
He staggered to his feet, looking at the marks left on his body from their lovemaking. His ears burned; he never imagined he would do such a thing in a hospital…
In the past, given his personality, this would have been absolutely impossible. But for some reason, after meeting Yan Yu, many things seemed to have started to get out of control.
Blushing, he picked up a roll of paper, wiped the stuff off his legs, put his pants back on, and only after making sure he was dressed neatly and in good condition did he push open the door to leave.
"Hiss..." He gasped as soon as he stepped out of the infirmary, feeling a sharp, tearing pain that made it difficult for him to take another step.
Last night was his first time, and it was already very painful. But before he could recover, this happened again, which was like adding insult to injury.
Fortunately, there weren't many people in the hospital corridor, which allowed him to walk unsteadily for a short distance, but at the corner, he stumbled and fell forward.
Luckily, a kind person helped him up, preventing him from falling flat on his face. The person's smiling voice came from above: "Be careful when you walk."
Shen Jin nodded somewhat embarrassedly, barely managing to stand up. He looked up at the kind person who had helped him, paused for a moment, and realized that the person was exceptionally handsome.
His face was chiseled, his eyelashes were long, and his smiling eyes seemed to speak volumes. When he saw him staring at him, he smiled gently and said, "Am I that good-looking?"
Shen Jin quickly looked away, feeling somewhat embarrassed. The other person was very handsome, but the reason he was staring at him wasn't because of his good looks, but because those eyes seemed familiar, as if he had seen them somewhere before.
"It looks good..." Shen Jin nodded awkwardly, then hurriedly said, "Thank you, I'm sorry."
"It's nothing," the other person smiled dismissively. "Are you feeling unwell? You can barely walk. I think you should get some rest."
This simple question instantly reminded Shen Jin of what happened between him and Yan Yu in the medical room not long ago. His ears burned instantly, and he could only lower his head awkwardly, not wanting anyone to see his embarrassment.
He nodded to the man and said, "Okay, no, it's nothing... thank you."
The other person smiled as they looked at his suddenly reddened ears and couldn't help but laugh out loud: "It's nothing to be embarrassed about if you're not feeling well. Just rest well."
The more he said that, the more embarrassed Shen Jin became, and could only manage a dry laugh: "Okay..."
The other person smiled and nodded, then walked away, leaving Shen Jin standing there staring at his departing figure, frowning, still not knowing why he felt he was familiar.
Unable to understand, he could only shake his head and slowly return to his sister's ward. Thinking of the ten thousand yuan debt that Li Zhen had mentioned earlier, he frowned again.
I can't understand what she's going to do with it, why she didn't even tell him?
When he returned to the ward, Shen Lian was eating the porridge he had brought her. She waved to him with a smile and asked with some concern, "Brother, you're back. Are you alright?"
"What could possibly be wrong with me?" Shen Jin forced a calm smile, not wanting her to see through him. He didn't sit down, but stood beside her bed and asked, "Are you feeling alright? He didn't hurt you just now, did he?"
Shen Lian glanced down at the hand he had used to block Li Zhen earlier; it was still red and swollen, but the swelling had gone down considerably, so she was a little relieved and shook her head: "I'm fine, but how do you know President Yan, brother?"
Even though she had no relation to Yan Yu, she still lived in this city and had naturally heard of him and seen him in some reports. She just couldn't understand why someone like that would know her brother.
Shen Jin was taken aback by her question. He was naturally too embarrassed to tell her the details of their relationship. After stammering for a while, he smiled and shook his head, saying perfunctorily, "We met because of a small matter. This should be one of our affiliated hospitals, so I came to help out when something happened."
Shen Lian frowned, feeling that what he said seemed reasonable, so she believed him and didn't delve into the matter. She obediently lowered her head to eat, while feeling a little guilty, afraid that he might suddenly ask about money.
However, what I feared most came to pass. The next moment, Chen Jin directly asked, "Why did you borrow money from Li Zhen? Ten thousand yuan, no less? When did this happen? Why haven't I heard you mention it before?"
Shen Lian lowered her head even further and continued eating, thinking about how to brush off the topic, but finally sighed softly and confessed: "It's about tuition... You were so busy with this and that during that time, so I..."
Actually, it was because she didn't want to put her brother in a difficult position or become a burden to him, so she tried her best not to ask him for money, since she knew he didn't have much money either.
Therefore, starting from high school, she secretly worked part-time to earn money while studying, hiding it from her brother. After entering university, the tuition fees increased, and money was needed for many things. Part-time jobs alone were not enough, so she had to borrow from others.
Although she didn't say it explicitly, when Shen Jin heard her say that, he probably guessed why she wanted to borrow money. His gaze flickered slightly and dimmed.
Their lives were already difficult enough, and other expenses only made things worse, making Shen Jin feel embarrassed and ashamed that it was because he didn't have the ability to pay.
He took a deep breath, not wanting her to notice anything, and gently patted her back, saying softly, "You should rest first. I'll figure out the money."
“Brother,” Shen Lian pursed her lips. Having relied on her brother for so many years, she naturally knew his hardships, “You don’t need to suffer so much because of me…”
As soon as she finished speaking, Chen Jin gently slapped her on the head and glared at her: "What are you thinking? Don't say such nonsense. We can earn money if we don't have any... You need to rest well."
Shen Lian pursed her lips and didn't speak. Her brother's current job was as a tutor for a middle school student. He was from a wealthy family and earned a high salary, but he couldn't afford her medical expenses at all.
After spending some time with her at the hospital, Shen Jin quietly paid the bill with the 100,000 yuan and then left the hospital. He needed to go back and prepare for his job to teach the children at his employer's house that evening, and he also needed to think carefully about the money issue.
As for Yan Yu...
When the name came to mind, Shen Jin lowered his head and smiled, a hint of self-mockery in his expression.
Life is already so difficult, why do you still like to have so many unrealistic dreams?
