Chapter 144 Yan Yu and Shen Jin are being chased
Half asleep and half awake, Shen Jin's mind was in a mess, and his consciousness was not yet clear. Now, in this dark place, if someone sneaks in in the middle of the night, his first reaction is naturally to feel danger.
His body instinctively wanted to defend himself and attack the other party, but unexpectedly he was pinned down instead. However, with someone helping him like this, his movements were indeed inconvenient.
However, people often unleash their physical potential when they encounter danger. But before they can unleash it, they are discouraged by the other person's voice and freeze in shock.
Shen Jin thought he might be hallucinating because he wasn't fully awake yet; otherwise, how could he have heard Yan Yu's voice?
What is he doing sneaking around here in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?
Shen Jin suddenly found it ridiculous, but he couldn't laugh at the moment. So he sat there blankly, unmoved, not knowing how to react or what attitude to take towards him.
I just felt a little cold in my chest.
Seeing that he had calmed down, Yan Yu breathed a sigh of relief and whispered in his ear, "It's me."
Shen Jin remained silent, intending to wait quietly to hear what he would do or say.
“They’re asleep now. I got the key from Xie Li…” Yan Yu said softly, “Can you not say anything for now? It’ll be troublesome if they find out.”
After he finished speaking, he released his hand from Shen Jin's mouth. Perhaps Shen Jin was too quiet, without making a sound, which made him uneasy. He called out uncertainly, "Shen Jin?"
The room was completely dark, and no one could see anyone's face clearly. They could only distinguish each other by their voices. Shen Jin's voice sounded somewhat mocking as he asked, "They're asleep, but what about you... don't you need to sleep?"
Yan Yu choked for a moment, realizing the sarcasm in his voice. His heart raced, and he pursed his lips, "I..."
After uttering a single word, he realized he had no idea what to say, and there were no other lines suitable for him to say.
When he came, he had actually thought about what he could do for Shen Jin and make amends to him. He wondered if Shen Jin's attitude towards him would change, or at least he wouldn't hate him as much as he does now.
But then he would suddenly realize that such thoughts seemed ridiculous. Shen Jin was not even out of danger yet, and he was being presumptuous by thinking so many things.
Yan Yu felt that there was a lock on Shen Jin's foot. He couldn't see it clearly, so he quickly lit up the screen of his phone and tried to open it with his key, but found that he couldn't open it at all!
"What are you doing?" Shen Jin asked expressionlessly, his tone flat and without the slightest ripple, seemingly not happy at all that Yan Yu was coming to save him.
How could he be happy after all... He was the one who kidnapped him, and now he suddenly wants to come and rescue him in the middle of the night. I don't know what kind of play he's putting on, what kind of self-inflicted injury he's playing, or what his purpose is.
Forget about being happy or touched, if it were convenient, he really wanted to raise his hand and slap him.
They let him come and bother him in the middle of the night, not even giving him a chance to get some sleep.
“…Of course, I’ll take you away.” Yan Yu said in a deep voice, his eyes flickering slightly. He knew that too much had happened between him and Shen Jin, and Shen Jin’s feelings for him were no longer the same as before.
When asked about his "kind" offer of help, Shen Jin scoffed and replied indifferently, "Oh."
Anyway, now that things have come to this, he can act however he wants. He has no power to refuse. His life and his life are in Yan Yu's hands. Since he wants to play the hero who saves the beauty with a self-inflicted injury, then let him have his way.
Yan Yu himself understood what kind of person he was and what his status was in Shen Jin's heart, so he didn't care about his mockery, but was a little anxious.
The key couldn't unlock the lock on Chen Jin's foot, and forcibly pulling it open wouldn't work either. Just as Yan Yu was thinking about what to do, there was a sudden "creak" from outside the door, which made Yan Yu's face turn pale and he quickly held his breath.
Someone opened the door.
The person who came out of the other room was Old Zheng. He didn't understand what had happened. He had only wanted to get up and go out to pee.
In this remote place, the lights were limited, and he could only make out a rough outline by the dim moonlight. Unfortunately, he couldn't see anything clearly, so he yawned and said, "Why do I feel like I just heard something?"
After yawning, he thought it was just his imagination, because there were all sorts of noises outside, including the rustling of grass and the calls of animals, which was bound to be a bit noisy, so he didn't pay any attention to it.
"I was about to burst..." Old Deng muttered to himself as he walked to the side, unzipped his pants and started to urinate, humming a simple song as he looked up at the moon in the sky.
Old Zheng looked around, frowned, and muttered, "I still feel like something's off..."
He gasped slightly as soon as he finished speaking, his pupils contracting sharply. He thought he heard footsteps behind him and jumped in fright: "Who?!"
He had barely uttered a cry when a stick struck him hard from behind the head!
Instead of knocking him unconscious, Yan Yu nearly made him scream. He frantically pressed him down, covered his mouth, and restrained his movements.
Old Zheng had just been hit with a stick, and even though he hadn't passed out, his mind was in complete disarray, and he was in a daze for a while.
But his shout of "Who's there?" was a bit too loud and woke the young man inside, who immediately asked from inside, "Old Zheng? What's wrong?"
Yan Yu lowered his voice, trying to make it sound rougher, and said indistinctly, "It's nothing, just a mouse."
The young man didn't suspect anything after hearing this, perhaps because he himself wasn't fully awake. He yawned and said, "What are you squeaking about, you little mouse? You're disturbing my sleep."
After he finished speaking, he fell silent again, seemingly having fallen asleep once more. Yan Yu breathed a sigh of relief and took out another set of keys from Lao Zheng's pocket, which should be the ones that could unlock Chen Jin's shackles.
Yan Yu didn't dare to waste time, and fearing that this person would ruin things, he gagged him, quickly tied him up and threw him aside, and then quickly entered the room where Shen Jin was locked up.
Although Shen Jin couldn't see what was happening outside, he could get a general idea from the conversations. He couldn't help but think to himself with a self-deprecating smile that he was acting quite well and that these people were cooperating with him very well.
Yan Yu entered silently from outside, unlocked the shackles on Shen Jin's feet with a key, and breathed a sigh of relief. He quickly reached out to help Shen Jin up and whispered, "Keep your voice down, let's go quickly."
Shen Jin remained expressionless: "Oh."
He didn't know what Yan Yu was up to, but whatever his purpose in acting, as long as the lock on his foot was unlocked, he would always have a chance to escape.
Therefore, he did not hesitate to run away and, together with Yan Yu, quickly darted into the bushes.
Less than two minutes later, the young man's door opened. He shone a light on it and saw Old Zheng tied up and thrown to the side. Then he glanced at the room where Shen Jin had been locked up and cursed, "Damn it!"
Old Zheng was still wriggling on the ground. He breathed a slight sigh of relief when he saw him coming, but his mouth was blocked and he couldn't speak at all. He could only make a few "uh uh uh" sounds.
"What 'hmm'? They're long gone!" the young man cursed, grabbed a knife from the house, and cut the ropes binding Old Zheng. "Hurry up and grab the tools and chase after them! They can't have gone far!"
"Huff huff huff... Damn it, I'm so angry!" Old Zheng finally regained his freedom and gasped for breath. "I know which way they went, it's... it's Yan Yu! It really is Yan Yu! Damn it!"
"Stop talking nonsense! Hurry up and chase after them!" The young man had already gone back under the bed and taken out what he called his "tools," which was a real gun, and Old Zheng also had one.
The young man glanced at the bullet and said to Old Zheng beside him, "Let's go, chase after them!"
The two immediately gave chase, pursuing the direction Yan Yu and the others had fled. The two hadn't gone very far, and in this desolate wilderness, it was easy to lose one's sense of direction and not be able to tell which way was which, plus the road was difficult to traverse.
Therefore, both the young man and Lao Zheng firmly believed that they could catch up.
Yan Yu and Shen Jin hadn't run very far. The mountain road was treacherous, so they had to be careful. But Yan Yu never expected that they would be caught up with them before they had gone very far!
"Damn it!" Yan Yu cursed under his breath, grabbed Shen Jin's hand, looked around, and landed in a lush, overgrown area. He immediately pulled Shen Jin forward, shouting, "Let's go!"
Shen Jin hadn't eaten or drunk anything for almost a day, and he was exhausted and had little energy left. Even if he wanted to break free from Yan Yu and escape, he was powerless to do so. Besides, he didn't even know where he was.
Therefore, he could only be passively pulled along by Yan Yu. He no longer grabbed his hand and bravely walked forward as he had at the beginning, but instead pulled him into the bushes together.
"Hide for now and don't speak. If you leave directly, they will catch up immediately," Yan Yu breathed a sigh of relief and couldn't help but press his head against his chest. "And you don't have much stamina, so you can't run far. They have the advantage in terms of terrain."
Shen Jin didn't resist and went along with him. After hearing his words, he said sarcastically without expression, "Oh, so I'm the one who held you back. I made you come all this way to save me. You really have had a hard time..."
You acted so convincingly, but I don't believe a single word of it.
Shen Jin didn't say what he was going to say next. Through the dim moonlight, he saw the young man and Old Zheng chasing after him.
Yan Yu, standing next to him, paused slightly, seemingly a little nervous, and whispered an explanation: "That's not what I meant..."
