Chapter 10 Chapter 10 "What you can't get is always the best."...

Xuan Yi looked at Biqing's angry face and saw an indescribable pain between her brows.

Xuan Yi knew that he had spoken out of turn.

The two were not familiar enough to open their hearts to each other.

But for the sake of his people, even if he said something inappropriate, he would still ask.

Biqing's silence answered for her.

Xuan Yi used his demonic power to transform a blue flower and handed it to Bi Qing. "I didn't mean to mention the heavens. Please don't take it personally."

Biqing took the flower silently and lightly tapped the petals with her fingertips.

The blue petals were scattered by her movements, wrapped around the white and tender fingertips and transformed into a wisp of demonic energy, then slowly floated back to their original place and condensed into their original shape.

"Xuan Yi."

Bi Qing said, "I've lived in the heavens for so long, and I've never heard anyone mention the demon world being invaded by foul energy. I only heard that... High God Chisong slashed the barrier with a single sword, severely injuring the Demon Lord."

Such a feat is indeed worthy of being praised in heaven.

Until her fall, she would occasionally hear stories about her aunt in heaven.

"It's within expectations. Given the current situation in the demon world, the heavenly realm will naturally avoid it." Xuan Yi's tone was calm, as he was already accustomed to such an outcome.

Biqing couldn't sit still: "There must be a way!"

Although she knew that the water source incident was most likely caused by her aunt, she still held on to a glimmer of hope.

Maybe it wasn’t done by my aunt?

There are many gods participating in the battle between the inner demons. Maybe other gods broke the barrier, and they were afraid and put the blame on their aunt?

"Perhaps."

Xuan Yi sensed her melancholy and said calmly, "Overthinking is harmful to your health. The sacral bone in your spine hasn't healed yet."

"You knew?!" Biqing looked at Xuan Yi in astonishment.

"My father told me that a long time ago."

Xuan Yi placed his finger on the back of the person beside him and gently tapped, "A god's immortal bones are born with him. How many people wish for them."

The demonic power flowed along Xuan Yi's fingertips into Bi Qing's back.

A little cold.

It was like the first rain in early spring, tainted with a bit of the chill left over from winter, soaking into the clear skin bit by bit.

“Everyone is born with innate helplessness.”

Biqing hugged her legs curled up in front of her and rested her chin on her knees: "What you can't get is always the best."

Xuan Yi's eyes darkened.

The issue of water source had made him think about cultivating immortality more than once.

After becoming an immortal, he can go to heaven to find a way to purify water.

Even if the price of this action is to bear the infamy from the demon world and the ridicule from the heaven.

After his efforts in cultivating immortality proved fruitless, Xuan Yi belatedly realized that many things cannot be accomplished simply by passion and determination.

In many things, we can only do our best and leave the rest to fate.

But he just doesn't believe in fate.

He insisted on finding an impossible turning point in his predetermined fate.

"Whether it's good or bad, you can only know it by experiencing it firsthand." Xuan Yi restrained his demonic power, stood up and said, "Let's go back."

It was pitch dark in the demon world at night, so Xuan Yi deliberately gathered a bit of demonic power in his palm to act as a candle.

It always makes me feel at ease when there is a little light at night.

The blue demonic power circled out a small world, guiding the two of them back home.

Biqing's eyes fell on Xuan Yi's stern face.

Although Xuan Yi has a good appearance, there is an indelible murderous aura between his brows, and he carries the loneliness that only those in high positions and powerful people have. Anyone who sees him will be afraid and retreat.

Xuan Yi from many years ago shouldn't have been this kind of person, right?

Biqing thought of the little wolf cubs who lived under Xuan Yi's protection. Their biggest worries might be what to eat today and where to go tomorrow.

In his early years, Xuan Yi should have been as carefree as them, right?

Biqing stumbled in a moment of distraction, then retracted her gaze, paying attention to the road under her feet, and continued to move forward with Xuan Yi.

Xuan Yi could clearly sense the expression in Biqing's eyes.

It is the heartache and pity from the bottom of my heart.

This was the first time Xuan Yi had seen such an expression in the eyes of an outsider.

He calmly slowed down his pace so that Biqing could get closer to him, lest she get scared if she couldn't keep up with him.

Xuan Yi noticed Bi Qing's back injury. For her health's sake, Xuan Yi gave her his room, telling her to take good care of her injuries, while he went to visit Ajiu and the others alone.

Xuan Yi was personally taking care of the wolf cubs, so Biqing was naturally relieved and rested peacefully in the house.

Mo Jue, who was busy casting a barrier, smelled a familiar scent and complained, "Brother! Why did you dissolve the barrier? This is too dangerous!"

"They'll grow up one day."

Xuan Yi said calmly, "You and I can protect them temporarily, but not forever. It's rare to have a safe environment where they can interact with other demons. Let them learn the simple ways of dealing with people. Perhaps they can make new friends and gain some insights."

Mo Jue looked at the wolf cubs sleeping soundly together, his eyes fell on Ah Jiu's wolf tail, which was covered with patches of dark and light. He smiled and said, "It's really an experience. The sparrow plucked all the wolf tail fluff."

"Don't feel bad for them. The fur will grow back in two days."

Xuan Yi asked, "How is your health?"

“Not very good.”

Mo Jue coughed twice, pretending to be weak and leaning on his brother's shoulder: "Brother, I can't do it anymore, I feel dizzy, please help me go to your room to lie down!"

Xuan Yi silently used his demonic power to explore Mo Jue's body: "You and Liu Que are quite a match, neither of you seems abnormal."

After making sure his brother was fine, Xuan Yi pushed him away and feigned disdain, brushing off the nonexistent dust from his shoulders. "Biqing is resting in the house. You stay here with Jiu and the others tonight."

"Is Fairy Biqing in your room?"

Mo Jue caught the key point and immediately became excited: "Brother, are you interested in her?"

He said so much to help Biqing analyze the pros and cons and find excuses to find a place for her in the clan.

He also let her sleep in her own room and recuperate.

Mo Jue smacked his lips: You still say it’s not a love story between a god and a demon?

Xuan Yi asked, "What's your point?" He then continued, "Gods and demons are worlds apart. Why would I dwell on such meaningless things?"

"Brother, if you don't want to, how do you know if it makes sense?"

"I think so?" Xuan Yi raised an eyebrow. "Why don't you think about this: how long do you plan to put off the matter between you and Liu Que?"

"I didn't delay."

Mo Jue spread his hands and said, "I told her clearly, it's impossible. Unless you, brother, get married before me... Ouch!"

A sudden pain came from his forehead. Mo Jue rubbed his forehead with a grimace and listened to his brother say leisurely: "First figure out your own affairs, then worry about mine."

——

Biqing tossed and turned on the bed made of tangled dead wood, her slender white fingers gently falling on the blue flowers beside the pillow.

She half-raised herself, leaned forward and sniffed for a while, but there was nothing else at the tip of her nose except the smell of dead wood.

Biqing felt like a fool.

She lay back on the couch, secretly thankful that no one saw what she did.

The blue demonic power was reflected in Biqing's eyes, illuminating the tenderness in her eyes that she herself had not even noticed.

It was getting late, so Biqing put the flowers aside, closed her eyes and prepared to go to sleep.

In a trance, she seemed to hear a sound like the friction of stones rolling along the ground.

Thinking it was just a prank played by Fu Liu and the others to scare her, Bi Qing didn't take it too seriously and continued to try to sleep.

Just as she was about to fall asleep, Biqing heard a short cry coming from a house in the distance.

Biqing opened her eyes suddenly. A resounding "boom" sounded outside the house. Listening carefully, she could hear a chaotic "chirp" sound in between.

She quickly stood up and casually pulled her clothes over her body. The moment she opened the door, she saw a pitch-black python as thick as a bucket, spitting its tongue at the small bird demons flying in the sky, trying to find their location.

The little bird demons were frightened and ran around like headless flies. Some even bumped into each other in panic, plummeting for a short distance before flapping their wings vigorously and flying upwards.

Seeing that the opportunity was right, the black python shrank back, gathered all its strength and jumped up with its mouth opened into a line, trying to eat the little bird monsters.

A dark yellow light hit the black python's head directly. The black python flew into the air and let out a roar before falling down.

"How could there be a long snake?!"

Liuque floated in mid-air and said to the trembling little bird demons, "Hide quickly! Are you waiting to be eaten by the snake as a snack?"

She conjured up a small silk fan with a white blade out of thin air, and her magical power flowed from her palm into the handle, dyeing the plain white fan blade into light yellow.

The long snake spat out its tongue twice and roared provocatively at Liuque.

The sound like a broken gong made Biqing cover her ears. She looked up and saw Liuque leaning down, not afraid of the huge snake at all.

In an instant, the yellow light and the long black shadow intertwined, making it difficult to separate them.

Biqing was overwhelmed by the situation. Remembering the noise coming from the wolf cubs' house, she threw on her clothes and ran over there.

Without warning, Biqing's raised foot missed a step, sending her plummeting forward. Startled, she forced herself to lean back, landing hard on the ground.

"it hurts!"

Biqing rubbed her hips, and was so shocked by the scene before her that she sat there for a long time, unable to recover: the ground was dragged by a long snake, leaving a deep ditch about as high as herself, with no end in sight.

The deep ditch was filled with long snake cubs as thick as hemp ropes.

The snake scales rub against each other, making a rustling sound.

A long snake cub was spitting out its tongue. Sensing Biqing's direction, it half stood up and made a hissing sound.

Biqing's scalp felt numb, and she held her breath, not daring to move.

Biqing looked at the quiet house in the distance and became increasingly worried about the wolf cubs and Xuan Yi.

She looked at the deep pit under her feet and looked around for something to step on.

A blue light flashed by, and before Biqing could see who it was, her eyes were suddenly covered by a big hand.

"It's me."

A gentle voice sounded from behind Biqing. She moved the big hand covering her eyes away, but it was covered even tighter.

"Xuan Yi!"

Biqing slapped the back of Xuanyi's hand hard, not caring about the fact that her palm was numb from the shock due to the lack of control. She asked anxiously, "How are Ah Jiu and the others?"

"I've made all the arrangements." Xuan Yi released his hand. "It's dangerous here. Keep going down this road. Jue, Jiu and the others are over there."

Biqing rubbed her slightly blurry eyes and fixed her gaze on the deep ditch in front of her: the long snake cub that had just stared at her had already been beheaded.

Not only that, but the other cubs were almost all cleaved in half by the sharp blades. Occasionally, a few still had a breath left, wriggling their bodies and trying to crawl over the corpses of their companions to find a safe corner.

Biqing's face turned pale, and she turned her head away, looking away.

What a good arrangement.

Bi Qing knew that if she stayed here with her spiritual power sealed, it would only cause trouble for Xuan Yi. She hurriedly told him to "be careful" and ran for her life to find Mo Jue.

On the way there, she heard a barely audible sound coming from the deep ditch.

Biqing was so scared that she jumped on the spot, holding her heart which was about to jump out of her chest, and quickened her pace to leave this dangerous place.

"Chiu..."

Biqing thought she was hallucinating and didn't want to pay attention to it, but then she heard another "chirp" sound.

This cry sounded like a cry for help, weak and desperate, using all his strength.

Biqing trembled as she approached the edge of the ditch, cautiously moving her body forward an inch.

It was a little bird demon that was trapped in a pile of snakes, with its neck tightly wrapped by the snakes.

The little bird demon opened his mouth and breathed heavily, staring at the sky in a daze.

Biqing's whole body tensed up: "Fu Liu?!"
