Chapter 5 Chapter 5 "Intermittent Ear Problems?"
Dark red blood slid down the blade and gathered on the tip, falling from the air to the ground and spreading into a pool, nourishing the barren wasteland.
Xuan Yi's eyes passed from Bi Qing and A Jiu, lingering for a moment on the wolf-eating eagle's corpse. "If we can't hide there during the day, we'll plan to do it at night."
As he spoke, he beheaded another wolf-eating eagle that was about to charge at the wolf pack and sneered, "I underestimated you."
Xuan Yi turned around and urged, "Why don't you hurry up?"
Mo Jue responded and rushed forward with everyone without stopping. While dodging nimbly, he also reminded Bi Qing: "Hide!"
Biqing did not respond to Mo Jue, but looked at Xuan Yi from afar as he chopped down one wolf-eating eagle after another with his sword.
A blue light flashed through the wolf-eating eagles like lightning. Wherever it touched, the wolf-eating eagles fell from the sky and hit the ground, forming a deep pit.
"Sister Biqing..." Ah Jiu said with difficulty, "You're strangling me so hard that I can't breathe..."
Biqing released her grip and looked at the wolf-eating hawks circling in the sky, their numbers still undiminished. She couldn't help but worry about Xuan Yi's situation. She took a deep breath and looked at the wolf demon dodging the attack and Xuan Yi, who was covered in blood.
Biqing's knuckles turned slightly white as she grabbed her sleeve.
The demon world is a million times more dangerous than she imagined.
"Don't worry, brother! I'm here if you can't hold on!"
Mo Jue ran forward without looking back, not knowing whether he was trying to comfort Biqing or himself: "We can get rid of them once we get out of this valley! We'll only be a hindrance to my brother if we stay here!"
He quickened his pace: "Brother will be fine!"
Biqing nodded vigorously where Mo Jue couldn't see.
The rain was drizzling down, and the burning sensation on her body became more severe. Biqing came to her senses and hid back in the wolfskin to prevent her skin from ulcerating further.
A shrill wolf howl accompanied by a heavy crash pierced the sky.
A wolf demon in the wolf pack was unable to dodge and was knocked into the air by a swooping wolf-eating eagle, where it fell heavily to the ground, creating countless pieces of rubble.
The little wolf cub hidden in the wolf demon's back fur was thrown out due to inertia and let out a scream.
Biqing's heart rose to her throat as the little wolf cub flew out. She poked her head out and cried out in a lost voice, "Be careful!"
Just as the wolf-eating eagle was about to snatch the wolf cub away from the sky, at the critical moment, a blue barrier wrapped around the wolf cub and it disappeared in an instant.
Xuan Yi rescued the little wolf cub and cast a barrier on the injured wolf demon to protect them.
Biqing's heart was still hanging in the air. She stared at Mo Jue who was hurrying on his way, wanting to say something but stopping herself.
After a moment, she asked, "Master Mo Jue, are you really not going to help him?"
"Going now will only cause trouble for my brother!"
Although Mo Jue deliberately concealed his worries, Bi Qing still keenly caught his emotions. She clenched her hands, raised her eyelashes sharply, and said urgently: "I can help him!"
The only response to Biqing was a noisy and shrill wail and the sound of claws crunching over gravel.
Biqing frowned and said seriously, "I can really help him! My hydrangea is a magical artifact!"
Mo Jue seemed not to hear and rushed out of the valley with the wolf demon who could keep up with him.
Biqing watched as Xuan Yi's figure merged into the valley in the darkness.
She was so anxious that her whole body was shaking: "Mo Jue!"
"Hold on tight!"
Mo Jue dug his long, sharp claws into the ground, flicked his tail, and turned around with a quick, crisp movement. He threw Ah Jiu from his back onto the back of a nearby wolf demon, and rushed back to the valley with Bi Qing to find his brother and the tribesmen who had fallen behind.
Biqing was confused and muttered to herself, "Intermittent ear disease?"
——
In the valley, Xuan Yi hovered above the barrier, his gray fur coat already stained crimson with blood. The still-wet blood dripped down his coat onto the barrier, sliding into the ground and disappearing.
Xuan Yi stayed close to protect several exhausted wolf demons and the cubs on their backs.
Several wolf demons were seriously injured, their legs were broken by huge rocks, and they were gasping for breath with their tongues hanging out in pain.
Several wolf cubs also suffered some minor injuries.
"Your Majesty..."
"Shut up."
Xuan Yi shouted hoarsely, "Don't distract me!"
He knew exactly what the wolf demon wanted to say.
They wanted to let themselves leave with the cubs.
Xuan Yi stared at the group of wolf-eating eagles that were glaring at him covetously, gripping the sword in his hand tightly, a creepy smile curling up at the corner of his mouth.
A clear voice came from a distance: "Xuan Yi——!"
Xuan Yi's brows knitted together. He caught a glimpse of Mo Jue from the corner of his eye. With bloodshot eyes, he roared, "Nonsense! What are you doing back here?"
Before he finished speaking, the hydrangea flew into the air.
However, Biqing's injuries had not healed yet, and she couldn't throw the hydrangea to Xuanyi's hands despite trying her best.
The hydrangea flew over Mo Jue's head, fell on his nose, and rolled down along his nose.
Halfway through rolling, the hydrangea was pulled into the air by a powerful force and then held in Xuan Yi's palm.
At the same time, Mo Jue rushed into the barrier with Bi Qing. He transformed into a human form and called out worriedly, "Brother!"
Xuan Yi glanced at him coldly, full of blame.
"I asked Master Mo Jue to bring me here!"
Biqing picked up the trembling wolf cub, whose legs were scratched by stones, and took out some herbs from her arms to cover the cub's legs. She hurriedly explained, "Xuan Yi! You can use this hydrangea by injecting your demonic power into it! The power of this artifact depends entirely on the ability of the person who controls it!"
Xuan Yi lowered his eyes and looked at the tribesmen in the barrier. Listening to the sound of flapping wings above his head, a cold light flashed in his mandarin duck eyes.
The blue demonic power wrapped around the hydrangea and placed it in front of Xuan Yi. His pupils narrowed slightly, and a huge sea of energy suddenly gushed out from the hydrangea.
In an instant, the mountains collapsed, the earth cracked, sand and rocks flew, and the place was in turmoil.
The blue air blades as sharp as knives scattered everywhere, cutting the wolf-eating eagle's waist like cutting tofu, which had no time to dodge.
The blood was as dense as a sudden downpour, mixed with the drizzle and minced meat, hitting the barrier with a crackling sound, and sliding along the outer edge of the barrier into the soil, mixing with the blood that did not have time to seep into the ground, forming a pool.
The wolf-eating eagle, which still had a breath of life, screamed miserably, flapped its wings strugglingly, and crawled towards the barrier as thin as a cicada's wing.
They crawled twice and then stopped moving.
Biqing's mind went blank.
She understood the law of the jungle, but this scene was too bloody for her.
It wasn't until the tip of her nose was completely covered by the smell of blood and she could no longer smell the smell of earth in the air that she couldn't help but dry heave and barely came to her senses.
Xuan Yi, who was outside the barrier, frowned slightly and looked at the wolf-eating eagle that had managed to survive in the air.
Only after they flapped their wings unwillingly and circled in the sky for a few times before disappearing into the dark night did Xuan Yi retract the barrier and go to visit his clansmen and Biqing.
"Your Majesty..."
"It's all my fault."
Xuan Yi drowned out the wolf demon's weak words and said to Mo Jue, who had already transformed back into his true form, "Leave first."
He walked up to Biqing, glanced at the little wolf cub whose wound she had bandaged and was holding tightly in her arms, and his eyes moved upwards: Biqing's face was pale, as if covered with a layer of frost, and her pair of dark pupils were slightly empty.
Biqing was quite frightened.
Xuan Yi pursed his lips and hesitantly reached out his hand, holding Biqing's back with one hand and holding her legs with the other, holding her in his arms.
Biqing's pale lips trembled, and she clutched the mottled gray clothes in front of her eyes tightly, but in the end she couldn't utter a word.
When Biqing regained consciousness, she was already lying in a hidden and dim cave.
The heavy breathing behind her startled her and made her shudder.
"Sister Biqing! It's us!"
Biqing was very familiar with Ajiu's voice. She patted her chest to calm herself down, turned around and walked to Ajiu, and asked, "Where is the king? Is he injured?"
She remembered Xuan Yi was covered in blood...
Ah Jiu said, "I heard from Lord Mo Jue that the king is not injured, but he has overused his demonic power and needs to rest for a few days."
The stone in Biqing's heart finally fell to the ground.
The injured wolf cub's abdomen was heaving violently. Biqing approached worriedly and asked, "How is the injury?"
The only answer Biqing received was the sound of her breathing, which varied in depth. After a moment, the little wolf cub managed to say, "It hurts... I miss my father and mother..."
As he spoke, the little wolf cub actually started to cry.
The atmosphere of sadness spread to the remaining injured wolf cubs, who huddled together weakly, sniffing and whimpering.
"Why are you crying?" Ah Jiu's voice was trembling as he feigned composure and scolded, "The King said! A real man sheds blood, not tears!"
"Alright, alright."
Biqing interrupted Jiu and came forward to coax the little wolf cub softly, "Don't cry, your face is all red from crying. Let me hug you, okay?"
The little wolf cub raised his head and looked at Biqing. Biqing remembered him. He had a very good relationship with Ajiu and always followed Ajiu around.
Biqing nervously stretched out her hand and slowly approached the little wolf cub. After making sure that he did not resist, she reached out and took the little wolf cub into her arms.
She stroked the wolf cub's fur, wiped the tears from his face with her sleeve, patted his back gently, and said soothingly, "Don't cry! Your father and mother must be worried sick when they see you crying like this."
"Sister Biqing..."
The little wolf cub buried his head in Biqing's arms and asked, "You are a god, right? Have you seen my parents in heaven?"
He said, "The king said that my parents went to heaven to become immortals and helped us find a way to purify the water. But I don't think so. My parents are clearly dead..."
"God..."
Biqing said thoughtfully, "Maybe your parents really have become gods. I'm just an insignificant god in heaven, and I haven't even seen many gods."
"Really?" The little wolf cub perked up when he heard it. "My parents are not dead, right?"
"Maybe. I haven't set foot in many places in heaven. Maybe your parents are there."
Seeing the wolf cub was half-believing and half-doubting, Biqing smiled and said, "I am a god, I won't lie to you."
She said, "Don't think too much. Take good care of your injuries, otherwise your parents will be sad."
The little wolf cub groaned in grievance, nestled in Biqing's arms with red eyes, and gradually fell asleep.
Biqing carefully placed the little wolf cub on a stone beside her and shook her slightly sore wrist: The little guy is not big, but his flesh is firm.
It was obvious that Xuan Yi had put a lot of thought into the cubs.
There was a light tap on the sole of her foot. Biqing lowered her head. The other little wolf cub looked at her with red eyes.
She immediately understood and asked quietly, "You miss mother too, don't you?"
The little wolf cub shook his head stubbornly and nodded again.
Biqing took the little wolf cub into her arms, found a large rock of suitable height to sit on, and comforted the cub while checking its injuries.
A sudden and chilling breath filled the air, and the man's steady yet trembling voice echoed in front of him: "Do you like demons?"
