Chapter 132 Different Paths, Same Destination

Before the Jin couple could even nod, Fu Yuchi started walking into the house, with Sun Miao'er following closely behind.

Jin Lao Er on the bed had already stopped breathing, and even the remaining warmth had almost dissipated. He was a cold corpse, and a half-worn shroud was still hanging at the head of the bed.

Fu Yuchi walked closer, first pressing the pustules on his face, then lifting the burial clothes to examine his limbs.

Seeing this scene, Sun Miao'er felt a tightness in her chest.

She was afraid just looking at Jin Lao Er, let alone the fact that her master wanted to touch him.

Fu Yuchi frowned slightly. In the dim light of the room, only half of his body could be seen hidden in the shadows.

“He didn’t die of illness, he was poisoned.” After a moment, he slowly uttered a few words.

Granny Jin rushed forward and grabbed her son's arm tightly, staring wide-eyed at Fu Yuchi, exclaiming, "Impossible! How could it be poisoning! I don't believe it!"

“Tell me about how he got sick.” Fu Yuchi’s tone was very calm, as if he had expected all of this.

There's nothing the Feather Camp can't do; most importantly, they can do these things so secretly that no one can find any flaws.

“The poison he was given was a secret imperial medicine. Even if you find folk doctors and they rack their brains, they still won’t be able to diagnose what the illness is,” Fu Yuchi explained. “That’s not the most important thing. Your son is indeed sick, but illness is one thing, poisoning is another.”

“His illness is not fatal, but the poison could kill him at any time. What he gave you was not a good medicine, but just an antidote.”

The Jin couple never imagined that they themselves had caused their son's death, and they simply cannot accept this outcome.

Granny Jin collapsed to the ground, pounding her fists in frustration, crying out, "My poor son! Why did it have to be him!"

"Why him of all people?" Sun Miao'er finally couldn't help but ask. The saying "There's always a reason why someone is pitiful" was most appropriate at this moment. "If you two hadn't been doing those heinous things for years, do you think that person would have come after you?"

"If I don't use drugs to control you, how can you expect to work for him obediently, and how can you expect to hand over your best products to him?"

Old Man Jin stared blankly at the corpse on the bed, his sunken eyes filled with endless emptiness. He muttered to himself, "I knew it. His illness came on strangely. How could a cough suddenly turn into sores all over his body!"

Seeing the disheveled state of the Jin couple, Sun Miao'er thought that evil people would eventually be punished by heaven, and said coldly, "I advise you to go to the yamen and turn yourselves in. Don't wait for the government to investigate you, or your crimes will be compounded."

"Are you waiting for me to report this to the authorities, or will you just turn yourselves in?" She crossed her arms and looked down at the two of them. It was good that these two bullies were dealt with; at least from now on, families in Dahuai Village with daughters could live in peace.

Old Man Jin was terrified and squatted on the ground, trembling. He nodded repeatedly, "We'll turn ourselves in. We won't trouble you two!"

The smell in the room was truly unbearable. Sun Miao'er took a deep breath and almost vomited. "Master, let's go out and take a look."

She had never seen that dark room that was rumored to be used to imprison people.

After looking around the Jin family's house, we found a mud-brick house behind the main house. That was probably it, but the door was locked with a brass lock, so we had to call Old Man Jin to open it again.

Old Man Jin shakily took out the key, unlocked the copper lock, and said timidly, "If you two have nothing else to do, I'll go and take care of my second son's funeral arrangements."

Before Sun Miao'er could even speak, Old Man Jin had already disappeared from behind.

“Master, they’re trying to escape.” Sun Miao’er keenly sensed a hint of cunning. This little trick couldn’t fool her eyes, otherwise, why would Old Man Jin have been so obedient as to open the door for her?

Fu Yu didn't turn around, but walked into the small house, saying, "Do you think they can get away?"

Using the light of the candle in her hand, Sun Miao'er illuminated every corner of the room. There were some broken hemp ropes on the ground, and rats scurried by, making extremely faint noises.

She could even imagine the despair those girls must have felt when they were locked up here; the mud-brick houses didn't even have windows, so it was probably pitch black inside even during the day.

Damp and gloomy.

"They don't know where my mother went, Master. What should I do?"

In this situation, Sun Miao'er instantly felt a sense of powerlessness surging through her body. Before, she was always full of energy and confidence when doing anything, but with this, she felt that she had really done her best.

"Am I going to lose my mother? I can't give Xiaoning any answers either. He's so pitiful." She shook her head to herself, a sense of powerlessness washing over her, making her want to give up.

Because there are too many things waiting for her to finish, and too little time for her to complete them.

For example, Xiao Ning will grow up soon. Before that, she will be the support of the Sun family, taking care of the elderly, the weak, the sick and disabled, and also searching for Song Shi's whereabouts.

Fu Yuchi stood beside her, gently placing his hand on her shoulder, and said tenderly, "It's alright, we'll take it slow."

There was a time when he also felt that revenge was such a distant thing. He tried his best to suppress this thought from the beginning, but as time went on, he realized that once a thought is suppressed, all sorts of strange ideas will arise to doubt and deny oneself.

It was Sun Miao'er's appearance that allowed him to let go of his innermost thoughts and figure out what he should do. Similarly, he hoped that she would never give up on him, no matter what.

Yes, take it slow.

These gentle words seemed to give her immense strength. If someone could accompany her and take things slowly, wouldn't that be a good thing?

Walking this road alone is too tiring.

"Master, thank you." Sun Miao'er turned to look at him, meeting his extremely warm eyes, and realized that she had indeed slowly fallen for him.

Immersed in the warmth here, I never lost myself. Instead, I felt as if I possessed boundless power, knowing that no matter what I did, there was always someone there to support me.

Rather than fleeting moments of emotion.

Fu Yuchi suddenly lowered his head and whispered, "Little Miao'er, it is I who should thank you."

He knew he couldn't escape or avoid the Feather Camp, the Emperor, the Xie family, and the Fu family. Now that he had let Fei Yu go back, the show was about to begin.

"Little Miao'er, the road ahead may be difficult, but I am different from you. I will not walk in silence. I will tell you whatever I do." His tone was so firm, as if he were making a vow.

He was expressing his determination towards her.
