After the winter rain, it got even colder, and a lot of people came to the grain and oil shop next door, carrying and transporting goods to buy them.
After the last wave of trouble passed, the cloth shop returned to its previous half-dead state, and at one point it didn't even open for three days in a row.
A few people occasionally stop in the alleyway outside the gate, but no one asks them anything.
Not only was her shop so deserted, but apart from Yunmiao Manor, almost all the other cloth shops were barely surviving.
It's time to move on to the next step.
Sun Miao'er gave Liu'er a few simple instructions, then carried the cloth and left the shop.
Duhuanlou was still bustling with people, a scene of extravagance and debauchery that made people linger.
Sun Miao'er had been here a few times before and was now considered a familiar face at Duhuanlou. The waiter immediately led her to the third floor.
“I’m not looking for Manager Hu today, I’m looking for Miss Xiaoxiao.” Sun Miao’er stopped and shook the cloth she was holding. “I’ve acquired some excellent fabrics and wanted to bring them to Miss Xiaoxiao for her appraisal.”
“Alright, Miss Sun, come with me.”
The maid announced her arrival and then let Sun Miao'er in. Just like the last time she came, the messy desk was now unusually tidy.
Dongli smiled, holding a book in her hand and muttering something. Hearing the door open, she turned her slender neck slightly and said, "Miss Sun."
She put down her book, stood up to greet her, her figure graceful and elegant, even carrying a fragrance.
"Thank you for what happened last time, Miss Sun." Dongli smiled gently, her voice as soft as water. She possessed both the charm of a young girl and a captivating allure.
Sun Miao'er put down the cloth in her hand. "Captain Shan is also a benefactor of our Fushui Village. It is my duty to repay his kindness."
“I run a cloth shop in Pingnan City. I just received a new batch of goods. Beautiful clothes for beautiful women, I specially sent some over to Miss Xiaoxiao.”
Dongli Xiaoxiao was a clever person. She knew that Sun Miao'er had done her a favor last time, and now that she had given her fabric for no reason, she immediately understood. "Miss Sun is very kind."
As the top courtesan of Duhuan Tower, she wore clothes that were modeled after those from the capital and had seen all sorts of fine things. But she was willing to help Sun Miao'er with this favor.
"What do you think of the fabric, Miss Xiaoxiao?" Sun Miao'er spread the fabric out on the table, revealing a delicate corner.
Dongli smiled knowingly, "It's very good material; it would be very comfortable to make clothes out of it."
Sun Miao'er smiled, rubbing the fabric with her fingertips. "Since Miss Xiaoxiao likes it, these will stay with you."
When Sun Miao'er returned to the shop, Liu'er was sitting there dejectedly.
"What's wrong with me today? The almanac says it's an auspicious day, so why am I so listless?" Sun Miao'er was in a great mood because Dongli Xiaoxiao had accepted her fabric and agreed to help.
Liu'er looked listless and dejected. "What else could be wrong, shopkeeper? It's almost closing time today, and we haven't even been able to open for business yet!"
Sun Miao'er chuckled, "Oh, so that's what it is. It's alright, it's alright."
"What do you mean it's not a big deal, shopkeeper!" Liu'er stamped her feet anxiously. "The rice and flour shop next door is always packed, but our business has been getting slower and slower these past few days."
"And also, shopkeeper, when are you finally going to order the second batch of goods?!"
Sun Miao'er strolled around the shop a few times with an air of nonchalance. "What's wrong, Liu'er? Are you worried that the shopkeeper won't be able to support you?"
"No, shopkeeper, I'm just worried about you! I've run several shops before, but I've never seen a shopkeeper like you!"
Sun Miao'er raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Like me in what way? Passive, lazy, and unambitious?"
"Hey, shopkeeper, I can't explain it to you!" Liu'er argued, her neck turning red, like a rooster.
Sun Miao'er laughed heartily, "Liu'er, it's a good thing that you're so dedicated to considering the shop's needs, but our shop is small, we can't rush things."
Two days later, Sun Miao'er returned with her order. Liu'er ran over to her mysteriously and asked, "Manager, we had a few customers today. It's quite strange."
Sun Miao'er feigned curiosity, "Oh? Tell me what's so strange about it?"
"They asked if we had the same items as Dongli Xiaoxiao in our store." Liu'er scratched his head. "What kind of fairy is Dongli? How could our store have anything she uses?"
He couldn't understand at the time how they managed to find their way here, since there were quite a few shops in Pingnan City that were bigger than his.
Sun Miao'er shrugged and patted Liu'er on the shoulder, "How do you know there isn't one?"
While the two were talking, someone else came over and asked the same question. This time, Sun Miao'er grabbed a pile of cloth from the warehouse and asked, "Sir, is this the kind you're talking about?"
The man nodded quickly, "Yes, yes! That's what the girl from the east wing was wearing when she came out today!"
"I found out from my maid's conversation with Miss Xiaoxiao."
Liu'er's ears perked up when she heard this, "Is it really the same style as Miss Xiaoxiao's?"
"How could it be fake? I saw it with my own eyes! Come, come, shopkeeper, I'll take them all!"
Sun Miao'er smiled as she packed the food for the man. Only after seeing the guest off did Liu'er recover from her shock.
"Shopkeeper, is Miss Xiaoxiao really wearing my clothes?" Liu'er's tone was full of surprise.
Sun Miao'er raised her eyelids slightly, "Didn't I tell you? Nothing is impossible."
"Shopkeeper, how did you get to know Miss Xiaoxiao? Do you even have such supernatural abilities?" Liu'er pressed.
Sun Miao'er smiled and said, "Of course I have my ways. Now let's just wait to collect the money."
Dongli Xiaoxiao was incredibly efficient. In just a few days, without even showing her face, the entire Pingnan City knew that she had visited Pingting Cloth Shop.
That's her brilliance. A woman of unparalleled beauty, her face and her name are her trademarks, even capable of setting the trend for the entire city.
It became an instant sensation.
Almost every day, people place orders at Pingting Fabric Shop. If they can't get the exact same fabric, they'll buy similar material in an attempt to win the favor of the girls in Dongli.
Just as Sun Miao'er said, Liu'er's hands cramped from calculating accounts all day long, and her eyes went dark from counting money. Even the rice and flour seller next door couldn't help but get conjunctivitis.
It's not that I envy her family's good business, but I'm jealous that her family is able to benefit from Dongli's daughter's good fortune in knowing Dongli Xiaoxiao.
"We've stocked up plenty this time. When people place orders, we'll have the goods in stock. Unless it's a custom order with a contract, in-stock items don't need this process." Sun Miao'er looked at the bustling shop, her cash box overflowing every day, and couldn't be happier.
Liu'er was extremely busy. "Manager, I'm practically doing the work of two people. If this really doesn't work, let's hire another person!"
