Chapter Thirty-Eight: This Punishment is Amusing

“If you don’t want anyone to know, then don’t do it in the first place. Wu Dali, you’ve got some nerve, trying to get your hands on me. Why do you have to mess with women of all things?” Sun Miao’er continued. She was never afraid of scum like this; the more scum there were, the more motivated she became.

Wu Dali was intimidated by the girl's imposing manner. He hadn't expected that this girl was still the same weak and easily bullied Sun family girl from the rumors. Wasn't she supposed to be easy to bully? How come he had run into her? She was more piercing than a nail and harder than an iron wall, causing him to fail at the last minute.

"Brother Dali, remember this: I didn't aim properly with this hoe today. If there's a next time, don't blame me for being too rough. And if you want to mess with my Sun family, go ahead and try. Do you think I'm afraid of you? Hmm?" Sun Miao'er threw the hoe on the ground, where it hit the cornfield with a dull thud.

Wu Dali slumped to the ground, his legs weak, supporting himself with his hands on the ground. He watched the figure receding into the distance under the sun. Though thin, the figure made his feet feel cold, even in the scorching summer heat of July.

"Damn it!" After a long while, when the figure had completely disappeared from sight, he cursed resentfully. After cursing, his mind was filled with the girl's ambiguous smile, sharp and murderous.

Outside the medicine hut, a piece of green cloth could be seen fluttering in the wind from afar. Sun Miao'er walked to the tree, picked up the cloth, and found it completely dry. The color was lighter after drying, and it looked even more beautiful under the blue sky.

Fu Yuchi came out from inside, glanced at the piece of material, and thought it suited her well. "How is the preparation of the medicinal herb plot going? I have a few herbs that I want to try planting these days. If they can be planted, we won't have to bother going to the mountains to pick them in the future."

“I recently planted some corn on one acre of land, and the other two acres have been cleared; I just need to turn over the soil.” Sun Miao’er put the cloth away. “Master, do you have any herbs to help with lactation?”

Sun Miao'er went through a fierce internal struggle before asking the question. After all, the little bear cub still needed to nurse, and the goat milk she brought back yesterday was already finished. Besides, the bear cub had a big appetite, and that little bit of goat milk was not enough for him. She would have to borrow some more from Fudan's mother.

"You rescued that bear cub?" Fu Yuchi asked.

“Yes.” Sun Miao’er nodded. “When he’s older and not freezing or starving, I will definitely send him back to the mountain.”

Fu Yu had tried to persuade her long ago, but she couldn't stop her. "This is Wang Bu Liu Xing Cao. Take it with Fu Dan's mother. There are also two crucian carp in the water tank in the kitchen. Someone gave them to me yesterday. Take them with you too. Consider it my reward to you."

Sun Miao'er was surprised that Fu Yuchi not only agreed but also generously gave her fish. She thanked him repeatedly, "Alright, Master, please feel free to ask me anything in the future. Don't hold back. I'm ready to serve you anytime."

She brought two fish and some herbs to help with lactation. Fu Dan's mother also let Sun Miao'er squeeze some goat milk to take back, telling her to come if she needed anything and not to be so polite next time.

Sun Miao'er was thoroughly disgusted by Wu Dali early in the morning, but after meeting a family like Fu Dan's mother, she realized that there was still warmth in Fushui Village, just like when she met her master.

"Oh, what's this? You've started hooking up with men?" Madam Jin had already heard that her niece had recently become quite skilled, getting to know a handsome young doctor in the village, who brought her back every day to treat her wife. Today, she deliberately didn't go to the brothel and waited at home.

Fu Yuchi followed behind Sun Miao'er, glancing at Jin Shi without saying a word. Sun Miao'er coldly replied, "No need for Auntie to trouble herself. Master is just here to help Grandma with her illness."

"Oh? You're already calling him 'Master'? Shouldn't you call him 'Husband' tomorrow?" Jin sneered, cracking a handful of melon seeds in her hand.

Sun Miao'er glared at her and led Fu Yuchi toward the kitchen, saying, "Auntie's eloquence seems to be improving every day."

"Shameless, just like your mother!" Jin Shi continued to curse from behind, and feeling unsatisfied, she added a few more words.

Sun Miao'er, mindful of the presence of outsiders, didn't want to argue with her, thinking it was better to avoid trouble. Unexpectedly, the woman became even more aggressive in her arguing. Sun Miao'er strode up to Jin Shi, unable to hide her anger, "Auntie, do you know that talkative people will go to the eighteenth level of hell after they die and suffer torture?"

Jin stopped talking. She wanted to continue cursing, but Sun Miao'er was radiating a chilling aura, just like when she threatened her that day, which made her shudder.

"This punishment is really fun, Auntie. Let me tell you, in the eighteen levels of hell, the tongues of talkative people will be pulled out and branded with hot irons, dripping with blood. It's quite a sight! I think you want to try it, Auntie?"

As she spoke, Sun Miao'er placed her hand under her neck and made a gesture.

Jin was so frightened that her hair stood on end. She dared not look directly into those eyes, which were those of a young girl. They looked bright and clear, but in reality, they were extremely vicious.

Fu Yuchi listened quietly to these words. The girl who could say such things was completely different from the girl who insisted on saving the bear cub on the mountain that day.

He clearly remembered that she woke up countless times that night, worried that the bear cub in her arms might die. She was very sleepy, but she didn't actually fall asleep, and he just watched her fall asleep.

"I'm sorry to have frightened you, Master." After Madam Jin returned to her room, Sun Miao'er regained her previous gentleness. "I'm sorry you had to see my aunt like this, but my parents passed away early, and if I'm not fierce, I won't be able to stay in this house."

Sun Miao'er saw the booklet on the table, which Sun Xiaoman had read yesterday. "Xiaoman wants to go to school. Once I earn enough money, I will send him to school. Until then, I would like to ask Master to let me take him with me. I am afraid that I will delay his studies."

"Yes, Xiaoman is a smart child, and I like her too," Fu Yuchi replied.

Sun Miao'er first went to the pigpen to feed the bear cubs. They looked much bigger than yesterday, with fuller fur. The cubs rubbed and licked against Sun Miao'er's hands, showing great affection. Only after hiding the bear cubs did Sun Miao'er return to the kitchen with peace of mind.

"Master, let's go take a look in the fields."

When they arrived at the medicinal herb field, Fu Yuchi's feet were covered in mud. He remembered this medicinal herb field. More than ten years ago, the Sun family had carried him back. He had spent a few days in a small mud house next to the medicinal herb field. At that time, there were still many medicinal herbs planted in the field, but now it has become wasteland.

“Master, I’ve been tending to this land recently. Before, it was overgrown with weeds, and I don’t know if it’s still possible to grow medicinal herbs. But I’ve been having Xiaoman collect the manure from the pigsty every day. Once it’s dried and fermented, we can apply it to the land.” Sun Miao’er remembered that there was still pig manure drying in the pigsty area, and she had almost forgotten about it.

That's top-quality fertilizer.
