Chapter Twenty-One: This is what they call retribution for evil.

Outside the pigsty, Xiaoman was tearing rotten vegetable leaves for Fenghuang. He had picked them up from the vegetable garden early in the morning. Li Zuokui and his mother, Xiao Zhangshi, had come to the house. Jinshi wouldn't let him stay inside, and his sister wasn't home, so he could only come to Fenghuang to talk about his feelings.

Li Zuo Kui somehow found his way to the outside of the Sun family's pigsty. From afar, he saw a large hen incubating eggs in the newly built chicken coop. "Sun Xiaoman, is this your hen?"

"What are you doing here?" When Xiaoman saw Li Zuokui approaching, she subconsciously moved a little closer to the hen, afraid that Li Zuokui had bad intentions.

Li Zuo Kui was very excited when he saw the hen. "Quickly let the hen out so I can play with it!"

"Why should I let you play with her? She's my big hen!" Xiaoman was wary of him, guarding the chicken coop closely.

Li Zuo Kui didn't care about any of that. He was used to being the little tyrant of the village. There was nothing in Fushui Village that Li Zuo Kui couldn't get. Let alone a hen, even if he wanted the whole chicken farm, his father would give in to him. "Stop talking nonsense and let the chickens out, or I'll tell my dad to confiscate your chickens!"

Thinking that it was the hen that her older sister had gone to great lengths to catch, Xiaoman put her hands on her hips, looking as if she was determined to live or die with the hen, "If you want to touch my chicken, you'll have to get past me first!"

"Don't be ungrateful, get out of here!" Li Zuo Kui rushed forward and, with his brute strength, pushed Xiao Man to the ground.

Xiaoman clutched his buttocks in pain, but quickly rolled over and got up, ready to fight back. Unfortunately, Li Zuokui was several sizes heavier than him, and Xiaoman's frail body was no match for him. Li Zuokui raised his arm and punched Xiaoman hard in the chest again.

Xiaoman clutched his chest in pain, shouting, "Don't come any closer!" He still tried his best to protect the chicken coop, which contained not only hens but also two goose eggs he had collected. If they fell into Li Zuokui's hands, they would probably be smashed to pieces.

However, Li Zuo Kui didn't care about any of that. He pushed Xiao Man aside, opened the door of the chicken coop, and completely destroyed it.

"Huh? This chicken laid eggs?"

Li Zuo Kui discovered two large goose eggs in the henhouse. He crawled into the henhouse, intending to put the eggs in his pocket. The hen, seeing someone intruding into her territory and trying to take her eggs, was alarmed.

In an instant, it became full of fighting spirit, raised its head high, flapped its two big wings, and pounced on Li Zuo Kui. Li Zuo Kui was startled by the hen's actions and quickly put down the goose egg in his hand.

However, at this point, Li Zuokui had been regarded as an intruder by the hen, and even if he put down the egg, the hen would not let him off the hook.

Li Zuokui ducked out of the chicken coop, with the hen chasing after him relentlessly.

"Help! The hen is going to bite!"

The commotion in the pigsty reached the front yard, and when Xiao Zhang heard her son's voice, she hurried to the back yard.

Sun Miao'er followed. No wonder she couldn't find the little fat boy; he had provoked the hen. Sure enough, nothing good came of it!

Upon arriving in the backyard, they saw the hen waving its two wings, its five-colored feathers standing on end, looking proud and ready to fight Li Zuo Kui.

Li Zuo Kui never expected the hen to be so fierce. He ran desperately, running in circles, while the hen relentlessly chased after him.

Seeing her son in such a sorry state, and fearing the hen might bite him hard, Xiao Zhang stamped her feet anxiously, "Sister-in-law of the Sun family, quickly move your chicken away, don't hurt my Kui'er!"

How could Jin know when a large hen had appeared in the house? She hurriedly grabbed a broom from the corner and pounced on the hen. Startled by the sudden shovel of the broom, the hen not only didn't quiet down but instead clucked even louder, turning its attention to Jin.

Sun Miao'er looked at the chaotic scene, but in her eyes, there was only the injured Xiaoman. Sun Xiaoman had taken two punches from Li Zuo Kui, one to her chest and one to her face, leaving a large bruise under her eye. "Does it hurt, Xiaoman?"

Touching Xiaoman's eye injury with heartache, Jin Shi didn't care about her own son at all, or rather, she didn't even notice that her son had been injured by others.

"Why is this beast fighting me now?!"

The more Jin swept the broom, the more excited the chicken became. Li Zuo Kui, now with help, lost his earlier fear and became arrogant again. "Aunt Sun, give this stinky chicken a good beating!"

"Whoosh—!"

Phoenix's eyes darted around, then its gaze returned to Li Zuo Kui. Changing its target, it leaped up, spread its wings, and glided over, startling Zhang and her son quite a bit.

"ah!"

Xiao Zhang screamed in fright. Jin quickly turned around and rushed over with a broom. In the blink of an eye, the broom fell, and Fenghuang dodged it swiftly. The broom hit Li Zuo Kui squarely.

Li Zuo Kui cried loudly in pain. Little Zhang hugged her son protectively, both shocked and panicked, "Sister-in-law Sun! What are you doing!"

Only then did Madam Jin realize that she had hit the wrong person. She dropped the broom, bent down and touched Li Zuo Kui's face, "Oh dear, Auntie didn't mean it. Quick, nephew, let Auntie see if you're hurt anywhere."

Sun Miao'er, who was standing nearby, watched the show with a cold eye. "Xiaoman, did you see that? This is what they call karma."

The scene was chaotic for a moment, but Sun Miao'er had had her fill of teasing them. She took out a small handful of corn kernels and scattered them into the chicken coop. The hen saw the food and plunged into the coop. Sun Miao'er covered the coop, thus averting the disaster.

"Sun Xiaoman, where did you get this beast from!"

Seeing that the chickens had gone into their coop and were temporarily safe, Madam Jin asked them in an annoyed tone.

Sun Miao'er also protected her younger brother, standing in front of Sun Xiaoman, and faced Jin's anger alone. "Auntie, I borrowed this chicken, thinking I would lay some eggs for Grandma to nourish her body."

"Fine, I knew you were up to no good, bringing back a beast. Look what you've done!"

Jin picked up a broom, intending to hit Sun Miao'er, but then she remembered how tough the girl was these days. If she hit her rashly, the girl might hold a grudge and try to trip her up next time, so she calmed down for a moment and said, "Hurry up and deal with this chicken!"

"Why should the chicken I brought back have to listen to your aunt? Besides, chickens don't chase people for no reason. Why don't you ask why? Isn't it too much to just make me throw the chicken away without even asking what happened?"

Sun Miao'er's gaze shot at Li Zuo Kui like a flying needle. The boy had just recovered when his small, beady eyes were red from crying. He leaned against Xiao Zhang's arms, looking utterly pitiful.

"Pretentious," Sun Miao'er muttered to herself.

Li Zuo Kui retorted, sobbing as he pointed at Sun Xiaoman, "He let the chicken out to bite me, Mother, he bullied Kui'er, waaaaaah!"
