Chapter 8: Women Disguise as Men to Escape Famine
I knew my daughter was strong, but I didn't expect her to be so big. She didn't have any difficulty pushing a cart. Fortunately, she was dressed as a man. If a girl did this, it would be scary.
Her daughter Wanwan is really successful, even more capable than her mother.
She knew that her daughter was not a disaster star, but a lucky star.
As soon as they walked out of the house in a mighty procession, Ye Tingxiao and Ye Yier stood at their own door and saluted them.
Seeing Du Wanwan dressed in men's clothing, Ye Er couldn't help but admire: "Miss Du is really a far-sighted person. This place is full of good and bad people, and it is more convenient for a man to be a woman than a woman."
Ye Tingxiao didn't say anything, just watched quietly. When he woke up today, he no longer had a fever, and his wounds were dry and no longer bleeding or pus.
It was just a little numb and itchy, and he knew that it was new flesh growing.
The woman's medical skills are truly unheard of in the world. If such a person goes to Liang County, it will be a blessing for the people of Liang County and also for the 50,000 soldiers of their Ye family army.
They can not only suture human wounds, but also develop anesthetics that will make people feel no pain from knife cuts or fire. If these were used on soldiers, many lives would be saved.
After three more days of rest, they would have to leave this place to carry out their mission. They didn't know whether they would be able to see her again in the future.
Du Wanwan was very good at pushing the cart, and Yao Meixian felt that it was unnecessary for her to follow her, so she slowly fell behind and walked beside Du Jiang.
She was afraid that he would encounter some inconvenience, so she would lend a hand.
"Ya Ya" had been ordered to store the food on the cart into the space. The baskets on the cart were empty and the oilcloth was not opened, so it was impossible to tell that Du Wanwan was pushing an empty cart.
The reason why she rushed to push the cart was to save some energy for her family.
My father has a disability and cannot walk long distances, so he has to take a car. The original owner is indeed very strong, but no matter how strong he is, he cannot withstand long-term consumption.
Fortunately, there was a spiritual spring in her space, and she had already mixed some of it into the water everyone drank, hoping that it would strengthen their physique and prevent them from falling down due to fatigue.
After walking for a whole day, there was no one on the road. There was no village in front and no shop behind. I walked until sunset without seeing anyone.
After finding a place sheltered from the wind, the family began to live and cook.
I ate at home in the morning before leaving, ate a few bites of dry food at noon, and if I don’t eat at night, my body won’t be able to bear it.
Yao Meixian was responsible for cooking, and Du Wanwan wanted to help, but she was sent aside to rest.
"Dalang, you've worked hard pushing the cart. Mom will cook."
The older brother Du Wenjun quickly poured her a bowl of water: "Brother! Drink some water!"
The second brother Du Wenguan brought her a towel: "Brother! Wipe your face!"
The third brother ran over and sat next to her, his eyes full of admiration: "Brother! You are so awesome."
Du Jiang looked at the four children with satisfaction and smiled with satisfaction: "Your eldest brother has been different from others since he was young. He will definitely be blessed in the future."
Du Wanwan looked at this and that, and felt that her parents and brothers had adapted quite quickly. They kept saying that they no longer treated her as a girl, which was a good thing.
The family had dinner in the dark, lay down on the ground in their clothes, and prepared to go to sleep.
After a whole day's journey, everyone was very sleepy, but Du Jiang just sat there, dozing off against the car, fearing that someone would come and steal the food in the car.
Du Wanwan wanted to ask him not to guard it, but she was afraid that he would find out something, so she simply didn't remind him and let him guard it.
In the middle of the night, she got up and wanted to switch with Du Jiang, but he insisted on pushing her away.
"Wan Wan! You are a girl, and if you don't get enough rest, you won't have the energy to travel tomorrow. Go to sleep quickly. Dad will have to keep watch from now on."
Unable to overcome his temper, Du Wanwan gave up and decided to let her father rest in the car tomorrow.
The next day, at dawn, the family got up, cooked a meal, prepared some dry food for lunch, and continued on their journey.
"Dad! You were tired from watching over the night last night, so I'll push you today. Come on, get in the car, or your son will carry you up."
It was an empty car, and it didn't weigh much to carry Du Jiang, so it didn't take any effort for Du Wanwan to push it.
I heard that Dad had been on guard last night. Du Wenjun, Du Wenguan and Du Wenhuo all felt very guilty. How could they have forgotten that they had to keep guard?
"Dad! Listen to big brother and take the car!"
"My second brother and I will be on night watch."
"Dad! Don't be embarrassed. I'm very strong."
Yao Meixian also advised: "Husband! You have a disability and cannot walk with us for a long time. Sons are filial, so please sit down and have a rest."
Du Jiang had no choice but to sit on the cart. His injured leg was really weak and the pain was excruciating.
The family packed up and set out towards the rising sun. After walking for a whole day, in the evening they saw a large group of people ahead also on the road. They looked like they were from the same village.
There were at least two or three hundred people. At the end of the team was a carriage, following the people in front not too far away.
Du Wanwan pushed the cart very fast. Du Jiang said he wanted to get out several times but he didn't dare. It seemed like his daughter was doing it on purpose, walking so fast that he couldn't even jump out of the car.
Whenever he made a move, Du Wanwan threatened him: "Dad! Don't move. Something will happen if you jump down."
After hearing what she said, he became scared. He had already injured one leg. If he injured another one, he would be a burden to his wife and children.
In this way, he tried several times to jump off the cart but failed, and remained sitting on it.
"Dad! There are people ahead of us. Can you take a look? Where are they from? Can we follow behind them?"
Having diverted his attention, Du Jiang stretched his neck to look around, but after looking for a long time he still couldn't tell which village the person was from.
This is not surprising. He has lived in the village for more than 30 years and has never left the house. The farthest place he has been is the town. How could he know anyone?
Du Wanwan was fast and soon caught up with these people, but she didn't dare to get close and just followed them from a distance.
They fled not because of disasters but because of war, so almost every household brought food with them. Some carried it on their shoulders, while others pushed it, which naturally slowed down their journey.
"Dad! Let's follow them tonight and rest for the night. We'll leave early tomorrow morning."
"Hey! Dad listens to you."
For some reason, Du Jiang never doubted his daughter's words. Whatever she said was true. He knew his daughter had some abilities, but he and his wife didn't dare to let her show them, for fear of being disliked.
If his daughter had not been with him the day he broke his leg, he might have died.
That day he went into the mountains to chop wood, and his wife carried their daughter on her back with him. Unexpectedly, they encountered a wild boar. He was so scared that he climbed up a tree.
The wild boar was angry and rammed the tree trunk. He lost his grip and fell down, breaking his leg.
The daughter rushed over, using her tiny body to block him and his wife, pointed at the wild boar's big head, and shouted in a baby voice: "Go away! Don't come to harm my parents. Go away quickly, my parents didn't hurt you, why would you hurt them?"
