Chapter 44: Some people’s disguises seem to be unable to hide
Qi Hong was eating breakfast in the living room. Seeing Qi Xu busying around, he thought their relationship had taken a step further, so he didn't ask any further questions.
Qi Xu hurriedly ate breakfast, put on her backpack and went out. She didn't want Jiang Hongyi to get up and drink ginger soup and see her again, which would make the tension between the two of them continue.
She still had to take advantage of the opportunity to slip away, worried that the man was no longer in danger of death, so she didn't have to worry about him anymore.
But on the way to the market, Qi Xu felt a little uneasy.
"Master, Master, you are finally here!"
"My brothers have all returned home safely. Your divination is truly effective!"
Zou Yaojie suddenly appeared in front of Qi Xu with his fists clenched, making her almost unable to stop and bump into him.
"So it's you. No need to thank me. You paid the divination fee and I told you the divination. This is all as it should be."
Qi Xu calmed himself down, waved his hand, took a step right and walked directly to his stall.
Zou Yaojie was about to kneel on the ground when she sat on the bench. "Master, this is the money for yesterday's divination and the amulet."
"You're doing this again. Don't kowtow all the time." When his knees were about to touch the ground, Qi Xu grabbed his elbow to prevent him from moving.
Zou Yaojie knew that he couldn't persuade Qi Xu, so he gave up and stood up.
"I'll take the money. You guys should pay more attention to the weather and be careful when you go out to sea."
She didn't even look at how much money was in the envelope and just put it away. This matter involved human life, so it was only natural for her to accept it no matter how much it was.
"Why don't you leave? If you have anything else to say, just tell me."
Qi Xu looked at Zou Yaojie's hesitant look and asked another question.
"Uh, Master, I think I want to ask for a peace amulet for me and my brothers again."
"Master, don't worry, I have already prepared the money for the talisman."
After saying that, Zou Yaojie took out another envelope from his pocket and pushed it towards Qi Xu.
"How many?"
"Twenty, thirty... that's fine too."
When Zou Yaojie heard her question, he couldn't wait to say the number he wanted.
"I only allow one amulet per person."
A fierce look flashed in Qi Xu's eyes, with a hint of warning.
"Ten or twelve will do."
That look made Zou Yaojie feel timid, and he told the actual number of people with some panic.
"However, my amulets originally cost eight hundred each. Since you need so many, I'll give you a discount to the lowest price, five hundred each. Do you think that's feasible?"
"No problem, Master. People are more important than money. I don't have enough. I'll come back to you when I have enough."
Zou Yaojie now trusted Qi Xu very much, and without any objection, he went straight to find someone to raise money.
The lady who was selling vegetables at the stall next door didn't come today, so the seat next to her was temporarily empty.
Jiang Hongyi was sleeping soundly, but he had a dream for no reason. In his dream, he was about to drown and he woke up instantly with his eyes open.
I've been on the verge of death before, but the impact wasn't as strong as this time. I actually fell into a dream.
When he turned over and sat up, he saw the bowl on the bedside table out of the corner of his eye, and then saw the note at the bottom of the bowl.
When I picked it up, I saw only four simple and clear words: 'Ginger soup, drives away the cold'.
These four words inexplicably made his heart warm up again. In fact, Qi Xu still cared about him, right?
Without thinking too much, Jiang Hongyi picked up the bowl and drank it all in one breath. Now not only his heart but also his stomach felt warm. He didn't even notice the smile on the corner of his mouth.
After putting down the bowl, he suddenly felt that his attitude towards Qi Xu was not good. He wanted to explain it again, so he took the bowl and went out, but looked around but did not see Qi Xu.
"Hongyi is looking for Miss Qi? She left right after breakfast. She said she was going to the market to buy mountain products."
Qi Hong was watering the vegetable garden at the time. After hearing the door open, he turned around and looked at Jiang Hongyi's anxious expression and said with squinted eyes.
Jiang Hongyi nodded to show that he understood, went to the kitchen to clean the bowl of ginger soup, turned around and went out again.
Seeing how nervous Jiang Hongyi was about Qi Xu, Qi Hong couldn't stop laughing. He stroked his goatee with one hand, looking forward to the day when he would hold his great-grandson in his arms. He worked even harder to water the vegetable garden.
Jiang Hongyi had not been to the nearby market since moving into the staff housing complex. When he arrived today, he discovered that there were stalls of all kinds.
He originally wanted to find Qi Xu, but the first person he discovered was the Taoist priest he met at Xiaohao's house last time. The doubts he had last time surfaced in his mind again.
Jiang Hongyi only had a suspicion last time and did not confirm his guess, so he did not appear in the Taoist's sight this time, but chose to hide in an alley not far opposite the Taoist.
Then, he saw the Taoist priest telling fortunes and reading faces for others in a serious manner, and he even saw the well-known Little Bully obeying the Taoist priest's orders and never behaving unreasonably.
This Taoist priest... is so powerful?
He stood there observing until almost noon, waiting for the Taoist priest to pack up his stall, pick up a backpack and prepare to leave.
Jiang Hongyi followed without any hesitation, because the backpack looked very familiar to him. It was obviously the one he used at home.
But why was the backpack in the hands of this Taoist priest? The doubts in his heart were about to be revealed.
Jiang Hongyi followed the Taoist priest all the way to the river. He saw the Taoist priest washing his face with river water. The familiar fair profile reappeared in front of him.
Sure enough, but why?
Questions popped up in Jiang Hongyi's mind one after another. He didn't know why Qi Xu pretended to be a Taoist priest, why Qi Xu kept it a secret from him and his grandfather, and where Qi Xu had learned the secrets of fortune-telling...
Immediately afterwards, Qi Xu walked into his private corner to change clothes, and when he came out, he had completely turned back into his original Qi Xu appearance.
Jiang Hongyi, who was secretly observing in the corner, has never been calm.
He waited until Qi Xu returned to the yard before coming out from his hiding corner.
I walked back and forth along the river several times thinking about this question but still had no answer.
Suddenly, the adventure of falling into the sea last night emerged in his mind, and the image of Qi Xu grabbing his sleeve with worry flashed through his mind.
Could it be that Qi Xu had some unspeakable hidden reason for saying such harsh words last night? He looked very carefully and saw obvious worry in Qi Xu's eyes.
When Jiang Hongyi recalled the scene again, he discovered many clues.
At that time, no one except his teammates knew that he was in danger. There was only one explanation, that is, Qi Xu calculated that he would be in danger and used some method to save him.
As soon as Qi Xu entered the door, she walked into the house, wanting to see if Jiang Hongyi was awake and whether he had finished drinking the ginger soup she cooked.
"Qi girl, Hongyi went out to look for you. How come you didn't run into each other? That shouldn't happen?"
???
Qi Xu's heart was filled with alarm. Jiang Hongyi had gone to see her? When?
"Squeak."
