Chapter 24 Sacrifice to the Mountain God
This city is quite small, and the social relationships between people are relatively simple.
I have never heard of the existence of human traffickers. How could these three living people disappear for no reason?
Tang Yu took something out of his trouser pocket, put it on the bed, and began to mutter to himself.
After a while, Tang Yu pushed his glasses and said seriously.
"We really have to go to Fossil Village tomorrow. This matter is closely related to Fossil Village."
After saying that, he looked at Gu Hansheng with a frown.
"And the hexagram shows that the three girls are currently in the Fossil Village."
"What?"
Shi Yi was surprised when he heard this.
"Then can you tell that these three girls are still alive?"
Tang Yu pushed his glasses and shook his head with some regret.
"I just got a Kan hexagram. The empty spaces on both sides symbolize dangerous water. Kan represents a yang line of water trapped in a yin line, representing a trap. The two Kans above and below, stacked on top of each other, represent danger upon danger, with numerous difficulties. This indicates that we will encounter some trouble in this village."
"The Kan hexagram corresponds to the north, and the Fossil Village happens to be just north of the town. It's very likely that this case is closely related to the Fossil Village!"
Gu Hansheng tapped the blackboard lightly, his eyes calm.
"Everyone go to bed early today. We will set off to Fossil Village together tomorrow."
After quickly finalizing the matter, everyone returned to their rooms.
After changing the environment, Shi Yi tossed and turned and couldn't fall asleep.
She got up from the bed, ruffled her hair, and walked to the hotel lobby.
Just when I was about to sit in the lobby and enjoy the fresh air, I saw several people carrying things and walking into the hotel one after another.
The thing was wrapped in red cloth and looked quite heavy.
Then a few more men came, carrying some chickens, ducks, pigs and other livestock, which were still alive.
There was chaos in the hotel lobby throughout the night.
Shi Yi was a little confused. He looked at the staff who were still on duty in the hotel lobby, walked up to them and asked curiously.
"What are those people doing?"
The staff member on duty was a quiet-looking woman. When she heard her words, she looked at the people carrying things coming and going not far away and said with a smile.
"You're from out of town, right? This is our mountain god's prayer ceremony. Tomorrow is his birthday, and these are offerings to him. We'll send them all to Panlong Mountain tomorrow."
Shi Yi understood. She had heard her master say before that offering sacrifices to gods was an ancient folk sacrificial activity.
It originates from people's worship of mountain gods. Some places believe that mountain gods can control mountains, forests, grasses, wind, thunder, fish and lightning, and protect the safety of people and animals and a good harvest.
However, there are slight differences in the worship of gods among different ethnic groups and regions.
Seeing that Shi Yi seemed quite interested, the receptionist said a few more words.
"Sir, tomorrow's worship ceremony will be very lively. If you have time, you can follow the team to watch it."
Shi Yi was a little surprised when he heard this.
Panlong Mountain?
She had heard the boss say this when she was eating mushroom chicken soup today.
"Since the new mayor took office, Panlong Mountain has been blocked off, and people are not allowed to go up the mountain to pick mushrooms?"
The receptionist nodded when he heard this.
"Yes, the mayor did have such a policy in the past. However, the only festival permitted on Panlong Mountain is the worship of the gods. This festival is extremely grand and is as important as the New Year here."
"The Panlong Mountain here is named because its shape resembles a reclining dragon. In ancient times, this place was a desolate and barren land."
"Our ancestors have said that when the moon comes out, the first rooster that flies out amidst the sound will fill the mountain with golden fruits, birds will fly, fish and shrimps will leap, and the mountain god we worship is the Green Rooster God. We even have many Green Rooster Temples here."
"In the hearts of us locals, the Biji Mountain God is synonymous with good weather and a good harvest. He is very important, so worshiping him is given great importance here."
"Every year we offer our best livestock and the best things to the gods. They must be alive, because the mountain gods only eat living things. That's why it's so noisy in the middle of the night."
As she spoke, the receptionist grinned.
"My dear guest, you've arrived at the perfect time. The annual worship ceremony is the most important ceremony. You can go and see it tomorrow. It's very lively, and you can even receive the blessing of the mountain god!"
After hearing this, Shi Yi touched his chin and turned to look at the people who were busy working.
"Panlong Mountain is near the Fossil Village. We can stop by on the way there tomorrow."
At some point, Gu Hansheng stood behind her and spoke out of the blue, frightening Shi Yi so much that she shuddered all over.
"Why are you walking without making any sound?!"
Gu Hansheng shrugged.
"You were thinking about something and didn't hear my footsteps."
Gu Hansheng was wearing a pure black pajamas and sitting carefree on the sofa beside him.
He tilted his head and looked at the people coming and going carrying livestock and various gifts.
"Can't you sleep?"
Shi Yi glanced at him and nodded.
"Maybe it's my first business trip, so I'm not used to it."
Gu Hansheng chuckled and put his arm on the back of Shi Yi's chair in a very intimate posture.
"It's okay. You'll get used to it after a few business trips. They were like this in the beginning, too."
A breeze blew, and Shi Yi's beautiful hair on her chest accidentally floated in front of Gu Hansheng's eyes, bringing with it a floral and fruity scent of shampoo.
Gu Hansheng looked a little unnatural and gently pinched the tip of his nose.
Seeing Shi Yi watching everyone moving things seriously, I couldn't help but feel curious.
"By the way, why did you dye your hair blue?"
Although he also thought Shi Yi looked good with dyed blue hair, like a mountain elf.
Shi Yi turned around and glanced at him indifferently.
"I don't dye my hair, it's naturally like this."
When Gu Hansheng heard this, he thought Shi Yi didn't want to tell him the reason and was just talking nonsense, so he curled his lips.
"Don't be so stingy. After all, we are friends now."
Shi Yi looked serious.
"I really didn't lie to you, my hair is really natural."
Gu Hansheng frowned.
"How can anyone be born with blue hair?"
When Shi Yi heard this, his expression darkened for a while.
"I want to know too, but I've been without parents since I was a child. I also had an accident when I was a child that caused me to lose my memory. I couldn't remember anything from the past until I met the master later."
"My master adopted me because of my hair, and I've received a lot of strange looks. I originally wanted to dye it black so that I would look like everyone else."
"But my master said there was no need to compromise myself for the sake of other people's opinions. He said my blue hair looked good and there was no need to deliberately change it."
Speaking of his master, Shi Yi's eyes were filled with tenderness.
Gu Hansheng could also feel that the master she mentioned had a different meaning to her.
