Chapter 130 The First Conversation

After landing in Jiangcheng, we took a car to the entrance of the most famous circular prison in Northwest China. The towering walls seemed like an insurmountable chasm.

Inside is a cold hell, outside is the human world.

Once you're in a circular prison, the minimum sentence is life imprisonment.

Prisoners are executed here year-round, so whether it's the prison guards you see upon landing or the atmosphere at the main gate, it all gives you a chilling and desolate feeling.

It felt as if the air itself was filled with the stench of blood, mixed with the harshness of the Northwest Gobi Desert. The wind blew relentlessly, and the moment you opened your eyes, sand and gravel would bury the corners of your eyes.

He took a deep breath. The dry wind hit his face, and combined with the scorching sun, the pain was instantaneous. If he stayed in Jiangcheng any longer, his cheeks would definitely crack.

The warden was a somewhat gloomy old man with many wrinkles around his eyes. He was not tall, but his eyes were bright and his lips were very thin, like a razor blade.

"We've been waiting for Dean Jiang for a long time."

"Thank you for your hard work." Jiang Cheng nodded politely.

"It is my honor to guide China's scientific research leaders. Please come in, it's too windy outside."

Warden Tan made a respectful gesture of invitation, bowed his head slightly, and led the three through the heavy, dark iron-colored door.

You Lixuan looked around at the facilities inside. There weren't many police officers guarding the entrance yet. According to the warden, their defenses were layered inwards, with nearly two hundred well-trained prison guards at the very center, all of whom were elites drawn from various places.

Warden Tan went to arrange a meeting between Jiang Cheng and Mizutani Yumi, and they sat in the waiting room for a while.

Jiang Cheng asked Gu Qingwan, "I remember you used to work for that hacker organization, right?"

"Yes, boss."

Have you ever heard of her?

"Of course, Yumiko Mizuniwa was one of the founders of Kill*eT, but she had a code name back then. The organization didn't use names to sort members, but rather Arabic numerals. I was 714, and she was 03."

Jiang Cheng remained silent, lost in thought for a moment. He was about to face a criminal of the ruling class from that era. He could roughly guess what kind of person the other party was: someone with absolutely clear rational thinking, keen insight, or a complete... madman!

"Dean Jiang, we're ready."

The prison guard knocked gently on the door, and Jiang Cheng got up from his seat.

······

In an interrogation room, the walls were pure white, and two rows of bright chandeliers hung from the ceiling, separated by a thick pane of glass.

There was a chair and a table in front of Jiang Cheng. He pulled them out and sat down.

Opposite the interrogation room, some distance away, was a shackle that could fasten a person to a chair.

A woman walked down the corridor through a slowly opening door. Her hair was a little messy, her profile was hidden in the shadows, and her skin was very fair.

Jiang Cheng's gaze followed her every step. Mizutani Yumi walked calmly, not at all like a criminal, but rather like a beautiful woman walking in her own backyard.

Is this the woman for whom countless countries have offered bounties? She looks rather delicate and frail.

She sat down, and the silent special police officers handcuffed her feet and hands, but just as the last hand was about to be locked...

Suddenly, Yumi Mizutani spoke up, "Wait a minute."

The woman's voice was very magnetic, ringing through the radio into the room on Jiangcheng's side. It carried a hint of languor and nonchalance, and was very captivating.

She reached out and smoothed the hair at her temples, revealing her entire face. A few stray strands were neatly arranged, exuding elegance. Her slender fingertips were cleanly trimmed, just like her.

Then, Mizutani Yumi looked up, and their eyes met.

Jiang Cheng was stunned for a moment.

He stared at that face, and almost the instant it came into view, his mind went completely blank. He was utterly astonished and couldn't believe it. A flood of emotions overwhelmed him, and a strange sense of familiarity surged through him. He felt his heart suddenly clench.

Mizutani Yumi was unbelievably beautiful. Her nose, eyebrows, and slightly pale lips were exquisitely sculpted, as if by God himself. Her fair skin had a luminous glow, though her complexion was somewhat pale, perhaps due to the poverty of her prison life.

What's most striking are her eyes, which hold endless depth and a captivating allure, making it impossible for anyone to guess what she's thinking.

Jiang Cheng was stunned not because she was pretty.

Rather, it's because of that sense of familiarity.

Mizutani Yumi is like a person.

If the resemblance were due to certain traits, he wouldn't have reacted so strongly. But as everyone knows from common sense, only inherited genes can cause a son to resemble his father and a daughter to resemble her mother. In some families, children are even cut from the same mold as their elders.

Even though they both have two eyes and a nose, everyone can recognize him at a glance as someone's neighbor's child.

Jiang Cheng had only ever seen one person in his life possess this kind of beauty that was detached from the rest of the world, and this kind of temperament.

Luo Xiaoli.

She's practically a middle-aged version of Luo Xiaoli! Straight hair, black eyes, her hair is as dark as ink, even glossy under the light.

A steadfast scientific researcher, with the support of absolute rational thinking, is rarely affected by worldly affairs. Jiang Cheng is an outstanding example of this, but this involves some of the most important people in his life.

Jiang Cheng was overwhelmed with a mix of emotions, and he unconsciously clenched his fists, feeling somewhat nervous.

This level of tension was unprecedented, even at scientific research summits where the world was watching.
