Chapter 135 Look at the Flowers in Bloom

Yumi Mizutani was twenty years old that year, and she achieved a level of glory that countless criminals could not even imagine. She was so wealthy that her account balance was in the hundreds of millions, and she remained at large despite being wanted by several countries.

She is skilled in mind control and has a group of followers who worship her like a goddess.

As long as Shui Ting wants to escape, no one can catch her. An absolutely rational egoist will not be bound by anything, so she will have no weaknesses if she can abandon everything.

But then, the devastating event occurred: she discovered she was pregnant…

That year, Yumi Mizutani sat by a stream in a remote foreign town, watching the rushing water and stepping on the pebbles. Her thought was to abort the child; she still held the same belief that having a child would give her a weakness.

But human hormones are amazing. When a mother realizes there is a life inside her, the feeling of one person containing two lives is indescribable. Every mother has experienced this feeling. The propagation of life has always been a miracle; it is the most basic yet most vibrant thing that nature has given us.

The term "matrix" is always a mysterious one.

When this feeling arose, Yumi Mizutani, who had always thought she had no concept of emotion, hesitated. She tried to keep the child in her womb, to give her life and the possibility of coming into this world.

When this thought arose, it was already too late to turn back. In her constant hesitation, the idea grew stronger, and emotions are the most vulnerable thing to have. This caused Mizutani Yumi to soften her heart whenever she thought of Luo Xiaoli in her womb, unable to bring herself to have an abortion.

Thus began the most peaceful period of her life.

In order to give Luo Xiaoli life and allow her to live a carefree and healthy life, Mizutani Yumi devised an extremely detailed plan, enough to deceive everyone and ensure that no one in the world would know the child's true identity.

She created a "Truman Show".

The story begins that spring when Shui Ting flew to Germany and found a small town beside a tributary of the Rhine River. To ensure authenticity, she spent a fortune hiring all the original residents of the town and found a young couple to live with.

Luo Xiaoli was born in the season when flowers the size of a fingernail bloomed on the grassy banks of the river, when nature was recovering and spring had arrived.

Yumi Mizutani lay on the bed, her body weak and her face pale. She felt powerless, a normal reaction after bringing a life into the world.

The couple picked up Luo Xiaoli and placed her next to her pillow. The mother and daughter's hair were close together, and she could see the vibrant little life when she turned her head.

The newborn girl, Li, had soft hands, a pinkish complexion, and wrinkled skin. Shui Ting gazed at her tenderly, and at that moment, she felt that all her efforts had been worthwhile.

The decision she made back then was absolutely correct, and it was the most fortunate thing in her life.

All her worries vanished in an instant. All she wanted was for her daughter to grow up quietly, far away from the dark side of the world, and preferably to be an ordinary person.

Shui Ting's gaze hardened, and she reached out to pull Xiao Li into her arms, savoring their precious time together. The plan was to be implemented in just a few days.

The entire town was filled with surveillance cameras. The next day, she moved into another house, a low, three-story building with gray-brown walls, which was somewhat dilapidated.

Shui Ting will observe everything about the child from here; she is no longer the mother, but the young couple is.

All the original inhabitants of the town became actors. The moment Luo Xiaoli opened her innocent eyes and looked at the world, she was already caught up in her mother's plan.

This is the Truman Show, where every move Xiao Li makes is carefully observed. This includes her reaching out her tiny hand curiously to grab at the chandelier in the ceiling while sitting in her baby cradle, becoming interested in the lawn outside the yard as she grows a little older, and gently rubbing the soil with a plastic shovel when she is two years old. She also squints and watches her parents watch TV.

They are separated by only one courtyard.

Mizutani Yumi and she could never see each other again.

Once they show their faces, all their efforts will be in vain.

As Xiaoli grew older and began to have memories, she vaguely understood that the parents in front of her were her own father and mother. When neighbors came to visit, they would always emphasize this fact. The psychological suggestion was happening every moment, as if trying to embed this false fact firmly into her mind.

Vocabulary related to family and understanding of the world are all in the planning stages.

Although everything was disguised, there wasn't a single flaw. Under such powerful suggestion, her worldview was fabricated. Xiao Li believed what Shui Ting had arranged: she was the daughter of an ordinary family in a small town, living in a sizable castle with over a dozen bay windows, and various pigeons perched on the tips of the domes. When the morning sunlight streamed in, flower-like patterns would appear on the wooden floor of the attic. The architecture was characterized by its strong, clean lines and meticulous design, and the lawn outside was teeming with ladybugs.

Three years later, after she began to vaguely understand some things, this was the most vulnerable stage, almost determining the course of a child's life.

Therefore, the second step of the plan is for the young parents to step down.

At the same time, the small hospital in town received the order and printed out fake medical certificates, forcibly assigning the diagnosis of late-stage liver cancer to Luo Xiaoli's "father." The mother led Xiaoli through a bleak world, caring for her dying father. Holding her little hand, she stood by his bedside. The father, now made up, grew increasingly thin, his lips parched, and he would let out strange, painful screams in the middle of the night.
