"Team leader, have something to eat."
"Um."
An employee of the Astronomical Institute placed the ordered takeout and coffee on Göring's desk. He was looking at documents and casually responded, his thoughts a bit scattered, having forgotten how hungry he had just been.
He opened the takeout bag, took a bite, and in the huge office, everyone was silent, eating and handling their tasks at their respective workstations.
While September was being detained and talking to Gu Qingwan, the United States, far across the ocean, was nervously preparing for a major event.
The probe has been launched into H-012's orbit, and the observation team is studying the transmitted data around the clock. Since the flight speed is not fast, the probe will reach its designated position in about ten minutes.
Observers 1, hereinafter referred to as O1, was the first probe to explore the missing location as a vanguard. The data it brought was undoubtedly crucial, so Goring dared not rest. Everyone else in the office shared the same thought. At least until they reached the designated location, everyone had to stay alert.
The long night wasn't lonely; thankfully, he had many people with him. Gorin glanced at everyone, who were still working diligently and focused, and felt a warmth in his heart.
He had always disliked socializing, which was why he had stayed in the Black Tower for so long. Fortunately, the researchers he encountered did not have the cumbersome habits and styles of bureaucrats or class structures, which made things a little easier for Göring.
On the screen, the probe continued to move forward, albeit slowly, but it had reached the peak of modern flight speed. To increase its speed further, it would probably have to rely on secondary propulsion, although that speed would gradually decrease.
Once in orbit, there's no need to worry about this issue, as gravity will become the only force acting on the system.
Goring's fingers unconsciously tapped the table. He would unconsciously light a cigarette after eating a few bites. That's how old smokers are. Even though his lungs were completely blackened and he coughed from time to time, he still couldn't put down his cigarette.
He pulled a cigarette out of the pack and was about to light it when a researcher's voice suddenly came from the other end.
"Chieftain, we are about to reach our designated position!"
Goring paused for a moment, then looked at the screen. O1 was approaching the designated location, and it was a crucial moment.
"Each observer must record all the data; no detail can be overlooked!" He stared at the screen and issued the instructions.
After waiting for so long and making so many detailed plans, is the secret about why H-012 suddenly lost its connection finally about to be revealed?
The researchers held their breath and focused intently, their expressions mirroring those of Team Leader Göring. They dared not let their minds wander for even a moment, for every step that followed would determine the course of the entire project.
Closer...closer!
The probe moved steadily forward, traversing the vast expanse of space. Ahead of it lay the location of an observation satellite that once represented the pinnacle of human astronomical technology. At this moment, the passage of time seemed to stretch on endlessly.
The starry sky was magnificent and breathtaking, beyond description in ordinary words. Its more accurate description was that it was vast and silent. O1, moving forward in it, appeared very small, insignificantly small.
Goring stared at the screen as the probe finally approached the location where the observation satellite had disappeared. He grew increasingly tense, his eyes fixed intently.
The image transmitted by the probe to the observatory was completely empty, except for the brilliant Milky Way. As it continued its ascent, it abruptly stopped. In that instant, the probe seemed to merge into some kind of space. It pierced through a thin membrane, and what Göring and the astronomers saw was an extremely blurry image; everything appeared indistinct!
Just moments ago, the probe was perfectly positioned, aligned with the location of the H-012 observation satellite, when the ground-to-air signal was instantly severed. It was as if a gaping maw had swallowed the probe whole, leaving not a trace. The tangible object, with its mass, vanished like gas, ceasing to exist.
H-012 bearing······
Goring suddenly sat up in his chair, his hands gripping the table as he stared in disbelief at the screen that was beginning to ripple with patterns. He frowned and asked, "What's going on? Can anyone tell me?"
"Team leader, our signal has been cut off, and we've completely lost contact with O1, just like... just like the previous observation satellites."
"How is this possible? Could there be some kind of magnetic field in this location?"
The researchers looked bewildered. From what they had just seen, there was nothing unusual, which proved that the signal was suddenly interrupted and affected the moment they entered that area. The key question was how to prove this.
Unlike the ground, space is not something that can be explored at will. Humans know very little about space.
Now even the first probe sent out has been "eaten up," so what should we do next?
Could it be that the location of H-012, like the Bermuda Triangle in a bizarre story, hides a space of a different dimension? That would be too incredible.
Göring made a decisive decision: to immediately report the situation to the authorities and await a decision from the leaders.
The people at the Astronomical Research Institute all wore solemn expressions... Ever since the observation satellite mysteriously disappeared, the events had been spiraling out of control at an increasingly rapid pace.
In China, the letter finally convinced September to reveal the mission the Dechan family had given her, the preparations for assassinating Jiang Cheng, the "boss's" arrangements, the detailed procedures, and the inside story of the assassins.
