"Then I'm leaving. Take good care of yourself at home." Jiang Cheng didn't dare to look at the pitiful Luo Xiaoli. Before he could even speak, her eyes were already filled with tears, and now she was about to burst into tears.
She looked at Jiang Cheng with teary eyes, her slender hand holding his arm, slowly shaking her head, her little mouth already pouting.

He eventually left Huanjiang Community and got into his assistant's car, which had been waiting for him for a long time, by the roadside.
Jiang Cheng closed the car door and let out a long sigh of relief. He was really afraid of facing such a brief separation, as it would make him feel sad for a long time. Luo Xiaoli was probably the only thing in his life that he could not give up.
"Boss, I've planned the itinerary. It's the same route as before. Once we arrive in Kyoto, we'll go to the Energy Technology Institute as soon as possible. Mr. Chen has some things he wants to discuss with you."
“Okay, sure,” Jiang Cheng adjusted his posture, looked up, and glanced at Gu Qingwan’s eyes in the mirror above the front row. “Why have you been so busy lately? I haven’t seen you for several days.”
As he spoke, he habitually turned his head to look at the scenery outside the window. Everything in Lanjing flashed by as the car sped along, and those familiar things receded into the distance.
"Busy killing people."
Gu Qingwan's calm words startled Jiang Cheng, who turned around in surprise.
If her boss hadn't asked, she would have remained silent, burying everything that happened in Lanjing, because there was no need for her boss, who was focused on scientific research, to be exposed to those tedious and disgusting plots of framing. Everyone has some understanding of the darkness and unevenness of the world, but to personally experience it is a completely different feeling.
Gu Qingwan would never go against her boss's wishes; she would answer any question asked.
“A few days ago, when you were on Fengyang Street, some foreign assassins tried to kill you. I cooperated with the Lanjing police to deal with them. A young girl from Japan was also arrested and is now in custody.”
She recounted the perilous assassination attempt in a tone as if she had been bitten by a mosquito.
Jiang Cheng reached out and touched his bangs, frowning. "Just a few days ago? Was it that scary?"
"Yes."
Are you alright?
"Thank you for your concern, boss, but no."
"Let's drive."
Unexpectedly, Jiang Cheng did not react in any way. His expression did not change much. He just fiddled with the stray hairs on his forehead and looked down with a nonchalant expression.
He never cared about such trivial matters. Now that Gu Qingwan had resolved it, he would let this matter rest and leave it at that.
In Jiang Cheng's heart, he was more able to understand the intrigue and scheming between great powers, the darkness hidden beneath the light, than ordinary people.
The higher he climbed, the clearer his understanding became. Rather than saying it was mundane, it would be more accurate to say that his mind was solely focused on scientific research.
The Japanese are driven by self-interest, and they will stop at nothing to achieve it. Even if it means fighting amongst themselves, secretly researching weapons that are strictly prohibited from harming humanity, and becoming powerful, they can avoid being restrained by external enemies and even oppress others.
Their scope is only so-so.
Jiang Cheng's heart holds the entirety of China, or rather, all of humanity.
When one's understanding and perception reach an unparalleled level, these dark aspects naturally cannot affect him and will retreat on their own.
Upon arriving at the airport, Gu Qingwan and Jiang Cheng shared a seat. The first thing she did upon entering the cabin was to adjust the seat to his usual angle, then place a glass of warm water on the table and neatly arrange the documents from her briefcase beside her.
After Jiang Cheng sat down, Gu Qingwan faced him.
"Boss, there's a document I need you to read before you go to see Professor Chen. It's about a major event that has recently occurred in the astronomical community."
