Chapter 18 Opening Up a New Landscape

"good evening."

I slept soundly through the night.

"good morning."

Every morning and evening, Jiangcheng receives a message like this without fail; the message comes from Zhao Xuerou.

Since they added each other on WeChat, she has been doing this persistently for several days. Apart from sending him good morning and good night messages, she hardly sends him any other messages, as if she is checking in with him every day.

This caused great annoyance to Jiangcheng.

If others knew, they would be filled with envy and tears would stream down their faces. But Jiang Cheng was incredibly annoyed and wished he could delete Zhao Xuerou again.

However, his position as the class monitor prevented him from doing so.

It's just good morning and good night messages. Let her send them if she likes. She can stop sending them when she can't keep it up anymore.

Sometimes when he receives a message in the morning, he opens his phone and, for a moment, feels a sense of familiarity with this daily greeting.

It seems... I treated Zhao Xuerou the same way before.

That morning, Jiang Cheng received a "good morning" message as usual. Before he could even turn off his phone screen, the message notification rang again.

Zhao Xuerou: Jiangcheng, I'm waiting for you on the tree-lined road this morning.

Zhao Xuerou: Don't misunderstand, I'm giving you some study materials.

He frowned and tapped the screen to reply, "Can't I give it to you when we get to the classroom? Why do I have to give it to you separately?"

These two short sentences were the first time he had replied to the other party's message in several days.

Zhao Xuerou: Hahaha, you finally replied to me (smirking). This material is quite difficult. I got it from the guide on my own. You make one first to test the difficulty. If you like it, I'll distribute it to everyone else.

Jiang Cheng: Can't you find someone else to do it?

Zhao Xuerou: But you're the only one in the class with a higher level of ability. I'm afraid the others won't be able to judge the difficulty of this question.

"......"

He stared at the pop-up message and fell silent.

That's the truth!

Jiang Cheng is a total straight man, and he's now so used to it that he doesn't care about anything except scientific research and studies. Everyone has vanity, and for someone like him who considers himself a semi-academic genius, the phrase "you're highly skilled" definitely hit a nerve.

Okay, I'm happy to do something for the class.

He immediately agreed, and the two arranged to meet on the tree-lined path.

Jiang Cheng packed his things, slung his shoulder bag over his shoulder, and was about to leave when he opened the door to his room and found Luo Xiaoli standing there dressed in extremely revealing clothes.

She seems to have a special fondness for sundresses, having bought seven sets in total. She changes into a different one every day at home and rarely goes out.

Xiao Li was naturally slender, standing around 168cm tall, with fair skin. Jiang Cheng could see her collarbone beneath her swan-like neck, beautiful yet bony. Her still-developing breasts resembled budding flowers, and her long, black hair cascaded freely down to her waist without any restraint.

"Brother, are you going to school?"

"Um······"

Even after spending so many days together, he still didn't know how to communicate with his younger sister. Fortunately, Luo Xiaoli was a very quiet girl who usually played in her room and rarely went out, occasionally doing housework.

The key thing is, she's just too beautiful. I've been watching her for almost half a month now, and sometimes I'd vaguely remember going out to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, because there's only one bathroom in this two-bedroom apartment. Whenever I bumped into Xiao Li, who was also rubbing her eyes as she came out, it felt like a dream.

She's like the kind of flawless, perfect girl from an anime.

"Take the soy milk with you, you can drink it on the way." Luo Xiaoli casually picked up the warm soy milk from the table and handed it to him with a smile.

"Snap!"

The door closed.

Jiangcheng went out.

She was left alone in the house.

Luo Xiaoli initially sat in the living room, picked up a straw, and took a couple of sips of soy milk. She drank absentmindedly, glancing occasionally towards the doorway, then turning her head to stare at Jiang Cheng's room for a long while…

In Luo Xiaoli's case, this strange behavior resembled that of a wary squirrel preparing to steal pine cones.

A dozen minutes later...

Once she was sure Jiang Cheng had left, she put down the soy milk in her hand.

Wearing sandals, she sneaked over to her brother's room.

Push open the door.

There were scattered papers, piled-up books, and a writing board on the table. Next to the desk were two potted succulents, and opposite were a wardrobe and a bed.

Luo Xiaoli took a deep breath of the room air, and an extremely subtle expression appeared on her face.

She walked skillfully to the wardrobe, pushed open the door, and inside were a few of Jiang Cheng's clothes, not many, but enough to fill half the wardrobe.

Luo Xiaoli suddenly lunged inside, her nose twitching. She greedily inhaled the scent of the clothes, a blissful expression on her face, a subtle smile blooming on her cheeks.

She reluctantly crawled out after sniffing the clothes from head to toe. Her sandals had already fallen off and were lying haphazardly on the floor. The barefoot girl took steps, her fair and alluring legs long and straight.

The girl leaped and landed on Jiang Cheng's bed. She rolled up the blanket and rubbed her face against it.

This extremely bizarre behavior... seems like something only a psychopath would do.

Jiang Cheng was completely unaware that every day after he left, Luo Xiaoli would run to his room and repeat these procedures...

I just arrived at school.
