What do you think of this idea?
Jiang Cheng looked at Wan Xingyan and Chen Ang reading the documents and calmly asked this question.
They were reading a new document together, with Chen Ang holding it and Wan Xingyan perched on his shoulder, intently staring at the words on the paper.
It can be observed that Chen Ang's Adam's apple was moving constantly, and his lips were also moving, as if he was a little excited. After a long while, he came to his senses and seemed to have heard Jiang Cheng's words.
"That's perfect! Team Leader Jiang, your idea has opened up a new path in the field of brain-like computing!"
Jiang Cheng raised an eyebrow and then asked Wan Xingyan, "Can you enable brain-like communication with humans, input our language, and create a voice module based on the existing chip to achieve dialogue?"
"Of course," Wan Xingyan readily agreed; this task was far too easy for him.
Jiang Cheng leaned closer with a cryptic smile on his face. The two veteran team members rarely saw this expression on his usually stern face, and they found it rather strange.
"This is done in private, understand?"
"Privately... okay!" They nodded, and Jiang Cheng, having arranged everything, walked out the door.
Nothing happened the next day, as if the conversation that night had never occurred.
However, in the evenings when they finished their research and were preparing to rest, the Chinese researchers in the group were secretly working overtime.
A day, an hour, a minute, a second.
In the blink of an eye.
The flowing river never freezes, but the temperature gradually drops. Cold is a unique feature of this season. Pedestrians on the street are wrapped in scarves and knitted hats, and the white mist they exhale rises slowly and disappears into the hazy sky.
In a foreign land, the researchers were filled with longing, but unfortunately, they couldn't eat dumplings or see the increasingly prosperous fireworks display in other countries.
The birch trees lining the road stood stubbornly and persistently in the cold wind, having endured countless winters like this.
However, this season is colder than in previous years.
Let the wind keep blowing, sweeping across every inch of this planet as soon as possible, heralding the coming test for the tender shoots about to break through the soil. In the magnificent blue sky, civilization is developing more and more prosperously, as if the crisis facing humanity is just an illusion. If only that were the case.
No one cherishes their peaceful life, and they never imagine that one day even such a life will become a luxury.
If a city is locked down, people cannot communicate even if they pass each other by, and if necessary they cannot even step out of their homes, they will cover their breath with masks, only revealing a pair of lifeless eyes looking at the gloomy sky.
If the world were to be paused, the once brightly lit cities and their ceaseless hustle and bustle would vanish, leaving only empty commercial buildings. Daily activities would become an unattainable dream; children would be unable to attend school, workers would be unable to go to work, and couples in different places would be forbidden from sleeping together.
What a tragic scene that would be.
No one can imagine it, and hopefully it will never happen.
Humans are strange; they always reminisce about the past, saying they want to go back to that summer a few years ago, yet they don't cherish the present that has passed. They weep for the separation of lovers or the death of elders in movies, but when they return home, they give their hardworking wives a cold shoulder, and when their parents video call while they're playing games in their dorm, they hang up immediately.
If you can't hold onto the past, and you can't see the future clearly, then please... seize this moment firmly.
Jiang Cheng worked tirelessly day and night on his research, seemingly without a care in the world. During the day, he was involved in the space docking project, and at night, he would observe the progress of "achieving communication with RBN materials." Every day of his life was very fulfilling.
On January 15th, the Lantern Festival in China, a night of great significance, Jiang Cheng entered the laboratory alone.
He gave the researchers a day off, as the team members had been exhausted lately and a rest wouldn't hinder the progress of the project.
Besides this reason, he had something even more important to do.
Wan Xingyan had already manufactured the module, and only the last step remained: to integrate it into the neuromorphic chip. Jiang Cheng decided to take this step himself, so he turned on the laboratory lights.
"Clatter".
The laboratory where the brain-like organism was housed was instantly brightly lit.
In the corner, the jar was placed, and in the transparent culture medium, the brain-like organism connected by the tubing looked like a pink jellyfish, floating quietly in the center. Jiang Cheng was watching it, and perhaps it was also sensing Jiang Cheng.
He calmly gazed at Number Four, which had traveled from the Northwest to Kyoto and was now brought to the observation building's laboratory. For some reason, Jiang Cheng felt a certain beauty about it, not visual, but spiritual, perhaps because Number Four had embodied so much of the researchers' hard work.
Jiang Cheng slowly approached the glass jar, moved the robotic arm aside, took out a small bottle from his pocket, and poured it into his hand. It contained a module that could convert vibrations into sound, enabling brain-like speech. He installed it into the robotic arm and then input the commands.
After doing all this, he did not immediately conduct the experiment.
Instead, he stood there, his eyes fixed on Number Four. There were four test subjects in the Northwest's plan. The first three were all sacrificed in order to preserve one possibility. The game between life and death is a great art.
He achieved final victory, and the brain-like project was declared a success.
If the module really works, what will be the first thing Number Four say?
