"Hey, what? How can that thing even exist...?"
The captain looked at the sky and muttered to himself. His face was covered in blood and dirt, making it impossible to see his original appearance. His hat had been knocked off at some point, and ashes were stuck to his hair.
It must have been bitten when it got too close to an insect, or hit its head on the butt of a gun. A stream of blood flowed down its head, ran down its left cheek, and dripped onto the ground.
The captain felt no pain, only a dreamlike sense of unreality, just as he said, "How can that thing exist?"
It's fantastical, unrealistic, and something I've never seen before.
People used to only use their dull imaginations to speculate about the existence of different civilizations outside of planets, but when they are actually revealed before our eyes, we can probably feel that incredible feeling.
So many people died...
As if accepting his destiny, the captain slowly closed his eyes. Involuntarily, those scenes flashed through his mind: he ordered Kerry to scout out if those things were still in the cabin, and then Kerry's internal organs were torn apart, and Maren, who was holding a flamethrower, was gnawed into a skeleton.
Countless former companions, those with whom they had spent every day, and the younger generation with whom they had once given advice, now have their smiles gone forever.
I'm a little sad.
The captain is in his forties, has a family, and a lovely child. He has been a captain for many years, and these men in the guard unit are his longtime friends.
In the blink of an eye, he witnessed his brother fall in front of him. This man of steel suppressed his emotions; he wouldn't wail and cry, a consequence of his personality.
Silently, a tear fell from the captain's eye, slid down onto the broken grass, dripped down the withered leaves, soaked into the soil, and disappeared.
They didn't even have time to feel sad, because everything happened in the blink of an eye, leaving little time to react.
As the curtain was about to fall, a chance to catch one's breath came, and so, a fierce wave of sorrow swept over.
Like a vast ocean, it suffocates you.
Jiang Cheng witnessed the rocket artillery unit launch itself. In the early morning, against the azure sky, it drew a graceful arc, trailing a plume of smoke, and disappeared into the observation platform with a whooshing sound.
Then, a pair of slender hands reached out and, just like last time, placed on his ears. Jiang Cheng felt somewhat helpless; he knew these were Gu Qingwan's hands.
The vision within his eye sockets first revealed a firelight interwoven with gray and red, which shot into the sky like an angry dragon, roaring! Its body grew larger and larger!
Thick smoke billowed up and instantly enveloped the entire second observation building. The once towering building crumbled layer by layer in this devastating blow and was on the verge of collapse!
It looks like the top is about to collapse!
The glass shattered completely, unable to withstand the terrifying tremor, and the objects inside were overturned along with it!
The ground trembled violently, as if mourning the dead.
Only then did the deafening sound come!
"boom!!"
The sudden burst of flames, with unstoppable force, blasted out twice in quick succession, completely shattering the entire observation tower.
After only a short rest, they aimed again and launched their attack! It seemed they didn't just want to destroy the building, but to turn it to dust, completely transforming the area where the building once stood into an empty space!
Jiang Cheng stared at the flames, lost in thought. The ground trembled, a testament to the extraordinary nature of this day.
The distant towns and islands clearly felt the tremors, and the residents were thrown into panic. They had no idea what was happening, only hearing continuous gunfire, followed by artillery fire!
With ample military strength, under such intense artillery fire, no living or non-living entity on the second observation tower will survive; those insects will perish alongside the hero's corpse!
"Rustle..."
As everyone watched this shocking scene, the captain placed his hand on his cheek, ignoring the blood and grime on his hands, since his face wasn't exactly clean either.
Heavy breathing, a choked throat.
He seemed to be trying to hide his weakness.
The air was filled with the sound of "evening bells" for the deceased, and the billowing smoke seemed to be calming the anger in their hearts.
He seemed not to hear the rustling sound, like the sound of a rough hand stroking withered grass.
Sorrow permeated the captain's entire being.
For some reason, the wound on his forehead kept bleeding, but he felt no pain, as if he had lost all sensation. But when the sound rang out, he suddenly regained sensation, accompanied by an unbearable itch!
It's so itchy! So itchy! It's unbearably itchy! An itch that goes right to my bones!
The captain immediately reached out to scratch, but after scratching twice, he couldn't feel anything at all. It was as if the sensation was inside his scalp. His fingernails were very dirty, but he couldn't care less at the moment.
The man even dug his fingernails into his wound, gripping it desperately. He didn't care about the flowing blood; he just wanted to stop the feeling, which was even more unbearable than being stabbed!
"Ah!! What is that!" He suddenly sat up, his entire forehead covered in blood, which gushed out and soaked his face! He then violently pounded his forehead, shouting and screaming.
At that moment, the captain seemed to have gone mad, clenching his teeth and his tongue trembling.
The police officers nearby seemed to notice the situation and rushed over, grabbing the man's hand.
