Chapter 237 Snowfield Expedition (Part Two)

With a creak.

The heavy iron gate was pushed open with a thud; it wasn't locked. The old man peered inside curiously; the room was dark and unlit…

It's strange. At this time of day, all the researchers should be waiting for supplies in the living room. They have very little food and supplies left, so why aren't they even turning on the lights?

The old man groped his way inside. He couldn't see anything in the dim light, so he could only touch the walls to find the light switch.

Because he was wearing thick gloves, he couldn't feel anything when he touched things. He took off the gloves and felt the warmth of the wall when he touched the door.

The Arctic observation station has a heating supply; otherwise, how would the researchers survive in the sub-zero temperatures outside?

Even so, people usually bundle up in thick layers indoors. In such a place where supplies are so scarce, getting sick is no small matter.

In the darkness, there was a faint, almost imperceptible sound of breathing, but the old man listened intently and caught it.

"Really, there are people here. We called you but you didn't respond."

He slammed the switch on, and the living room was instantly brightly lit.

What happened next made Cronint's eyes widen, and he stood there dumbfounded, completely unable to react.

What he saw in front of him was that the entire living room was full of people. Some were standing on the table, some were lying on the floor, and some were even clinging to the wall next to him!

That's right, it's definitely adhesive!

The European guy looked like a lizard, with a thick tail swaying, his neck stretched to an unimaginable arc, his head tilted, a black tongue sticking out of his mouth, and vertical pupils in his eyes.

The scales on his neck were almost completely covered, revealing "flowing" skin with a thin membrane wriggling beneath the flesh. Sharp claws allowed him to cling firmly to the wall.

At this moment, the mutated European guy stared intently at Cronin without blinking.

Like a venomous reptile.

This researcher is completely detached from the realm of humanity.

Old Man Te couldn't believe his eyes at this dreamlike scene. The person squatting on the table had their mouth open, drool dripping down, revealing sharp teeth. Furthermore, the person's fingers had turned completely black, becoming increasingly rough, and a long tongue protruded from their mouth.

He took a small step back in shock, feeling his mind go blank.

Had I stumbled into a Gypsy snake-man magic trick...? A wind-like people imprison children who disobey their fathers, and in the face of divine punishment, they are transformed into filthy snakes, whose heads are chopped off every night for 150 years.

The dim lamplight cast shadows on the ground, which swayed and seemed to emerge from the earth, growing longer and longer until they reached Cronint's feet.

He shuddered and looked up.

Ouqi, the melancholy young man who used to enjoy smoking and gazing at the snow, is now hanging upside down from the lamp, his shadow lying on the ground.

"What...what happened here?!"

He roared, unable to bear the chill of the cold-blooded animal's gaze any longer. A chill ran down his spine. In the instant he believed it was real, the old man pulled a gun from behind his back, aimed it at the upside-down Ochi, and pulled the trigger!

With a loud "bang!", white smoke billowed up, and the lizardman Ochi nimbly leaped down, swiftly pouncing on Cronint!

That immense power was far beyond what an old man could withstand!

He was knocked to the ground by the impact!

Sharp, rough black claws firmly restrained the hand holding the gun, the nails digging through his fragile clothes! The old man felt excruciating pain as the muscle on his entire forearm was torn off in an instant!

"Ah!!" A cry of extreme pain.

Blood gushed out like a fountain, soaking through the clothes below the shoulders and flowing onto the floor, filling the entire main hall with the stench of blood!

Oqi's vertical pupils stared intently into the old man's eyes, forcing him to meet its gaze. Its black tongue flicked out, coiling and waving like a snake!

Finally, it probed into the mouth of the old man who was screaming desperately, and continued to extend downwards!

It swims down the esophagus into the intestines and stomach, binding his internal organs!

Its mouth was wide open, and it bit down, gnawing at the other's head, piercing through the hard skull!

Cronin struggled violently, his whole body trembling like a leaf. He wanted to break free, but he simply didn't have the strength and was locked to the ground.

Blood kept gushing out, soaking the floor, Ochi's mouth, and his heavy hat.

Warm liquid overflowed the ground and filled the eyes of the vertical-pupiled lizards.

Cronin convulsed, until almost all the fluid in his body had drained away, his body heat had vanished, and his eyes had lost their luster…

He went through an incredibly painful process.

After nearly fifteen minutes, the body stopped struggling.

A cold wind howled, rushing into the main hall of the monitoring station, even shaking the heavy iron doors and blowing against Cronint's face.

A crystal-clear snowflake appeared on his blood-red hair. The wind was like a funeral procession of the gods. Songs echoed from the northern mountains, and the spirits of the dead flew peacefully into the sky.

Kronent died in the white world, dragged outside by Ochi, followed by more than twenty crawling lizardmen.

Blood stained the snow, leaving behind a long road.

······

Nearly a thousand miles away, Jiang Cheng got into the car. Next to him sat a young man with a bewildered expression.

He seemed slightly flustered and uneasy, looking around anxiously.

Jiang Cheng asked softly, "What's wrong?"
