Inside the hotel's private room, students from Lanjing Science and Technology College gathered together for the first reunion of Jiang Cheng's class, a gathering held to strengthen the friendship among classmates.
Since it was a pre-order, Liang Gu didn't keep the anxious Jiang Cheng waiting for long. The dishes were served within five minutes of everyone sitting in their chairs.
Everyone first raised their glasses in unison.
A glass of wine down my throat, and I felt completely refreshed.
The conversation started instantly.
On the table, Zhao Xuerou glanced shyly at Jiang Cheng, said nothing, and looked very happy.
Meanwhile, Liang Gu and Liu Mengke were also locked in a fierce battle.
People were talking about girls and football, creating a noisy atmosphere.
Amidst this clamor.
Jiang Cheng glanced at the time on his phone.
6:45.
We've almost reached the point I expected.
Jiang Cheng didn't want to linger any longer, so he nudged Liang Gu.
Less than two minutes later, Jiang Cheng's phone rang.
He looked apologetic and got up to answer the call.
"Hey... Oh, I see. Okay, I got it. I'll be right there."
This is a common way to get out of a drinking party: you tell your friends in advance to call you at a certain time, pretend you have something to do, apologize, and leave.
It was something the two of them had agreed upon beforehand.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I'm so sorry, there's something going on at my rented apartment. I think I forgot to turn off the gas. I have to go back right away, or the landlord will get angry. Excuse me."
Jiang Cheng stood up, raised a glass of wine to everyone, and then drank it all in one gulp to express his apology.
"They're leaving already? That's so boring, Jiangcheng."
"Yes, the party has just started, it's not appropriate for you to leave now."
"We agreed to drink until we drop tonight."
Upon hearing his words, everyone began to complain, as the worst thing one can do at a drinking party is to back out at the last minute.
Upon hearing this, Zhao Xuerou's smile faded considerably.
He silently took a couple of sips of his drink without saying a word.
"Alright, everyone, since it's a gas leak, this is a serious matter. Let Jiang Cheng go back first."
Liang Gu promptly smoothed things over.
He is meticulous and lively, and is considered one of the better people in the class at handling interpersonal relationships, and he also has some influence.
Seeing that he had already spoken, the others felt embarrassed to make things difficult for him any further.
Jiang Cheng nodded to everyone, picked up his bag, and was about to leave.
Just then, a girl opposite him also stood up.
This girl was also a pretty girl in the class, the kind that was very popular. If she hadn't been overshadowed by Zhao Xuerou, she could definitely be considered a class beauty.
Her name is Qiao Nana.
Just as Jiang Cheng stepped out the door.
The girl seemed to have a stomachache and ran as fast as she could.
What a coincidence!
She rushed towards Jiang Cheng's retreating figure, and with a "thump," the two bumped into each other in the corridor.
Jiang Cheng was caught off guard by the force on his back and was knocked down, falling into the corridor in a daze.
Qiao Nana also fell to the ground with a thud! She gasped in surprise, her hair all disheveled.
She sat on the ground for a long time without getting up.
"Are you alright...?" Jiang Cheng asked, touching his back, which was still sore from the impact.
"Excuse me, my stomach hurts. I didn't notice you just now... Something seems to have happened. I twisted my ankle."
"Then what should we do?"
"It's okay, it's not serious. Can you help me up?" Qiao Nana lifted her face, a pained expression on her face, and stretched out a hand.
It means asking him to lend a hand.
Jiang Cheng's expression turned strange, but he couldn't just leave a girl sitting on the ground.
Although he disliked physical contact, he still reached out and pulled Joanna up from the ground.
Unexpectedly, with this pull, Qiao Nana lost her footing, cried out in pain, and suddenly fell on him!
"No, no, my legs hurt too much, I can't stand up. Can you help me to the toilet?"
Qiao Nana looked up at him. Soft hotel lighting illuminated the corridor, which was quiet on both sides...
There were only the two of them in this place.
The soft, fragrant embrace enveloped Jiang Cheng, who felt the lingering aroma around his nose.
She smelled wonderful; she must have been wearing some kind of perfume, Jiang Cheng thought.
However, the pose and the current atmosphere do seem a bit strange.
She looked like she was in a lot of pain; she didn't dare to use her left foot to support herself on the ground and was clinging to him.
Although Jiang Cheng didn't really like this position, he couldn't do anything about it since she was injured. It would be too heartless to leave her behind and walk away alone.
that's all.
The two walked step by step through the seemingly short corridor, which took them a full five minutes.
We finally arrived at the toilet.
“Go in by yourself. I can’t help you in. You should be able to climb in by holding onto the sink. Then call the girls in your class and ask them to come out and meet you. If it’s really serious, go to the hospital.”
He released Qiao Nana, straightened his disheveled clothes and collar, and didn't forget to give her a word of advice.
"I understand, thank you Jiang Cheng." She suddenly smiled.
"nothing."
He turned and left.
They hadn't walked more than a few steps.
A rustling sound came from the corridor in the distance.
I looked up.
A ladder was set up on the hotel's stall, and two maintenance workers in overalls were adjusting the monitoring system on it.
