Chapter 264 You Must Tell the Truth

"What?"

Xiao Li, who was playing on her phone, felt strange gazes. She looked up and saw the two men staring intently at her, their gazes so intense they made her feel hot. Feeling uncomfortable, she asked a question and wrinkled her nose.

"There must be some wine in Jiangcheng, right?" Zhao Xuerou asked.

Ke Bing continued, "He definitely has some. Corporate executives or slightly higher-ranking officials usually have plenty of wine given to them by others as a gesture of goodwill. Even if it's just to save face, they still have to have a few bottles on display. Even if Jiang Cheng doesn't like it, he probably still needs it for decoration."

Luo Xiaoli was wearing a black short skirt today, her long legs were so white they were practically glowing, and she was wearing a pair of gray and white sneakers. She was resting her chin on her hand, and a thoughtful expression appeared on her face.

“It seems so…” she thought for a moment, “I caught a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye when I went there.”

"That's perfect! Woohoo!" Zhao Xuerou cheered, raising her arms. "Call him now and have him send someone over. Seriously, with a relationship like yours, it's inconceivable that you wouldn't take advantage of things. Your boyfriend is a high-ranking federal official; shouldn't you be able to do whatever you want?"

"Isn't that a crab that walks sideways?" Ke Bing scratched his head.

"Whether you understand the metaphor or not, don't worry about the details."

Unexpectedly, while these two lively characters were talking, Luo Xiaoli lightly bit her moist lips, a serious look appearing in her eyes. The atmosphere in the dormitory instantly became awkward. Zhao Xuerou smiled for a moment, then, seeing her reaction, suddenly paused, "What's wrong?"

“I don’t think this is a good idea. I like Jiang Cheng. If he has the talent to make something of himself, that’s great. If he doesn’t, I’d be willing to follow him even if he’s just setting up a stall on the street. As long as he’s doing what he wants to do and realizing the value he believes in in life, then he’ll be happy, and I’ll be happy too. He is a high-ranking federal official, that’s true, but I don’t want to use Jiang Cheng’s position for personal gain, and I don’t want to be a scapegoat.”

As she spoke, Luo Xiaoli lowered her eyes and her voice became somewhat low, "To me, he only has the title of boyfriend."

Perhaps, in countless different worlds across countless dimensions, there is more than one possibility.

In this world of Jiangcheng, there is Xiao Li who loves him. He is reborn here and rewrites his life. In another world, perhaps following the original trajectory, he remains mediocre until the age of thirty, preoccupied with Zhao Xuerou's affairs and suffering from a chronic illness. And in yet another world? Perhaps he is just as ordinary, but married to Luo Xiao Li, working a nine-to-five job with a meager salary... After their baby is born, his salary is no longer enough to pay for baby formula, forcing him to set up a fried skewer stall. In the evening, a cold wind blows, Luo Xiao Li sits on a small stool covered with a blanket, while he frantically fries skewers, the greasy steam filling the air. The cold wind blows through Luo Xiao Li's hair, revealing her stunning face as she smiles at his busy figure.

Life may be a series of movies, and we live in a dimensional movie while higher beings watch us live, munching on sunflower seeds and popcorn.

The same applies to tragedies in life. A father is in a car accident, a mother is scrambling to raise money, and a little boy clutches his sister's hand, filled with fear and anxiety, yet he tries to remain calm and comfort her, saying, "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid." If a higher being witnessed this scene, would they simply scoff and laugh it off?

Inside the dormitory, Zhao Xuerou was clearly taken aback after hearing Xiao Li's words.

She truly felt the deep affection conveyed in those words. A woman's intuition is usually quite accurate; ripples of emotion stirred within her, and she concluded that the relationship between Jiang Cheng and Luo Xiaoli was definitely not as simple as that of an ordinary couple who fell in love after a chance encounter. Sometimes, love does need time to accumulate; it's like wine, the longer it ages, the more mellow and fragrant it becomes. But how could Jiang Cheng, back in high school, have such profound feelings for her?

Zhao Xuerou couldn't figure out the reason, and didn't think about it in detail for the time being.

She held up one finger and said to Luo Xiaoli with the same seriousness, "This is a one-time privilege, and it won't happen again."

After hesitating for a few seconds, seeing her insistence, Xiao Li gave up in frustration after a long while, "Okay."

So, around 9 p.m., Jiang Cheng, who was reviewing his exam documents in his brightly lit dormitory, received a voice message. He heard the notification tone, but didn't open it immediately. Instead, he paused for a moment, took a sip of water, put down the documents, and took out his phone.

My incredibly cute girlfriend: Bro, do you have any alcohol?

Jiangcheng: ?

He sent a question mark, then added, "Medical alcohol? Are you injured?"

"No, it was alcohol I drank."

Drinking… Jiang Cheng’s mind went blank. He had no idea what she was up to, and even doubted whether the person who messaged him was really his girlfriend. He typed a message and glanced up at the bookshelf behind him. There were indeed two bottles of red wine there, just for decoration. He didn’t even know the brand, only that it was one of Tali’s favorites. When Tali came to the north, he insisted on ordering a batch from that winery. Back then, he held up the wooden wine box and talked a lot, telling himself that he had to try it. After he left, Gu Qingwan took the wine out of the box and placed it on either side of the grid-like bookshelf.

This wine is quite expensive, but he didn't know the price and had never even glanced at it.

“I have two bottles here, but they are federally prohibited.”

After the message was sent, there was a long pause. Jiang Cheng waited but did not receive a reply. Meanwhile, people in the dormitory on the other side had already started discussing it.
