Chapter 320 Superhumans

"call……"

Jiang Cheng kept his eyes closed.

After taking another deep breath, his consciousness soared out again. This time, however, it raced towards the vast sky.

In an instant, a sparrow fluttering its wings came into his field of vision. Its strong wings swept through the air, and the sparrow's large black eyes looked around, as if searching for a suitable place to land.

Watching the sparrows fly freely, Jiang Cheng had a sudden thought.

A faint mechanical grinding sound suddenly came from behind him, and the scales silently shed from his back. The metallic molecules formed from these scales surged and climbed towards his shoulder blades. They gathered and reformed. A few seconds later, a pair of enormous mechanical wings appeared out of thin air.

"Whoosh!"

The alloy feathers, gleaming with a cold, silvery light, stood upright in the air, exuding an unmistakable chill.

The sleek lines of the wings demonstrate a fluid dynamics function, as if he could soar through the sky with just a gentle flap of his wings.

As he withdrew his will, the mechanical wings ceased their open state and slowly folded behind him. Feeling the cool touch of the wings covering his back, Jiang Cheng gently controlled his mind, manipulating the wings to open and close slightly behind him. This smooth experience was as if the mechanical wings had always been part of his body, never separated.

The dimly lit basement was also illuminated by the light emanating from these enormous wings.

Unlike the eerie blue light of the "Heart of the Universe," the alloy armor radiated a more menacing and imposing aura, a chilling light that pierced straight to the heart. At this moment, this light enveloped the entire basement, so bright that it was impossible to open one's eyes.

Jiang Cheng snapped out of his reverie and slowly opened his eyes. As he did so, he saw himself in the mirror.

Rather than calling him a human with extra mechanical armor, it's more accurate to say he's a superhuman. From his initial full-body armor to his current silver-white mechanical wings, Jiang Cheng's heart has become increasingly full.

After merging with Gu Qingwan, Jiang Cheng has transcended the realm of humanity.

Adding to the series of perceptions just now...

Jiang Cheng wanted to experience more, but suddenly felt a wave of dizziness and his legs went weak. He collapsed to his knees as if all his strength had been drained.

"Thump!"

The moment his knee slammed into the ground, Jiang Cheng didn't feel any physical pain; instead, it gave him a greater mental shock. At the same time, the silver-white scales on his body began to peel away layer by layer, breaking into particles that glowed with blue fluorescence, which floated lightly in front of his line of sight.

In the next instant, all the particles suddenly converged towards the center, restoring Gu Qingwan's original appearance.

With a gentle smile, she knelt down and helped Jiang Cheng to sit down on the chair next to her.

"Boss, your body has reached its limit."

Upon hearing her words, Jiang Cheng paused slightly.

I can't take it...

Even after sitting back down, Jiang Cheng's entire back was still sweating profusely, and his pale forehead was covered with fine beads of sweat. Even though the air conditioning in the basement was on full blast, Jiang Cheng still looked as if he had just been pulled out of the water.

His chest heaved up and down as he gasped for breath, yet he remained fixed on his reflection in the mirror.

It's completely different from what it was just now.

At this moment, Jiang Cheng was pale and weak, and had reached a very frail state.

Faced with such a fragile body, or such a weak self, Jiang Cheng frowned, ignoring the beads of sweat dripping from his forehead, and calmly pondered.

The human body is undoubtedly exquisite.

Over the long course of evolution, all the superfluous parts of the human body have long been discarded, leaving behind all the organs, none of which are useless.

However, biological evolution is inextricably linked to the environment. Without significant environmental changes or drastic climate shifts, human evolution would not continue. Furthermore, since humans have already reached the top of the food chain on Earth, evolution has naturally stalled.

Thousands of years have passed since the last major evolution of the human body. During this time, no more noticeable changes have occurred in humankind.

In other words, such a weak body is unlikely to be able to support the human brain, an "undeveloped super CPU."

To date, the human brain has been developed to a maximum of no more than 10%, and for the general public, even 6% is an insurmountable obstacle.

Throughout history, so many scientists have gone to extremes because of their obsession with mechanical research, and the reason is probably nothing more than this.

Everyone knows that only by replacing the physical body with machinery and retaining only the brain as the sole organ can they achieve the "ascension" they desire.

But throughout history, no one has been able to do this.

Thinking of this, Jiang Cheng's gaze became even more profound.

He stared intently at Gu Qingwan, his thoughts growing increasingly complex.

He wanted to find a solution.

A way to carry the energy of the "Heart of the Universe" without abandoning the physical body.

He didn't want to completely replace his physical body with machinery. Although the technology was now available, abandoning his physical body would be tantamount to abandoning himself for Jiang Cheng.

Is a "person" who only retains a human brain still a person?

Jiang Cheng couldn't solve such an age-old problem in a short time. So he simply locked himself in the underground laboratory and quietly pondered it all.

As the nebulae shifted and time passed, so too did the stars and nebulae move.

With Gu Qingwan by his side, Jiang Cheng remained in the same position, sitting in the chair and thinking for a long time. Immersed in thought, he almost forgot about time.
