Is "dragging it out" really the only solution?
It took me an hour to wash the dishes and another hour to take a shower.
If we continue to drag this out, it would be truly unreasonable for Zhao Xuerou not to suspect anything.
With that thought in mind, Jiang Cheng had no choice but to bite the bullet and leave the bathroom.
Jiang Cheng carefully opened the door, dried his feet to avoid making a squeaking sound from his slippers on the tiled floor. After doing all this, he tiptoed into the room, praying in his heart that Zhao Xuerou was already asleep.
Fortunately, things really went as he wished.
Upon reaching the room door, Jiang Cheng discovered that Zhao Xuerou, lying alone on the large bed with her back to him, was already fast asleep, her even breathing indicating that she had drifted off to sleep.
Walking slowly to the bedside, Jiang Cheng's gaze swept over the cloud of sorrow gathering between her brows. Her long eyelashes, like two small fans, cast two even shadows on her flushed cheeks, and her lips, as red as a crabapple blossom, were tightly pressed together, as if she had many unforgettable worries. Her exposed shoulders and large expanses of snow-white, milky skin were even more radiant and captivating in the moonlight, and her luminous complexion truly moved Jiang Cheng.
He tossed his hair, stepped past her, and, holding his breath, went to the wardrobe, carefully beginning to change into his pajamas.
In order not to wake Zhao Xuerou, who was fast asleep, Jiang Cheng would carefully look back at her after each movement to make sure she was still asleep on the bed, for fear of accidentally waking her up.
Having endured so much hardship to get to this point, Jiangcheng absolutely cannot allow any small mistake to ruin everything.
After tidying up, Jiang Cheng turned around again to make sure she was still fast asleep before he breathed a sigh of relief.
Jiang Cheng tiptoed and lifted half of the blanket to climb into bed, but before he could finish, he suddenly saw Zhao Xuerou move and pounce on him.
"Oh no!"
He inwardly cried out in alarm, but Zhao Xuerou still managed to pounce on him unexpectedly.
"Hmm!"
While Jiang Cheng was stunned and forgot to move, Zhao Xuerou grabbed his arm, hooked her arms around his neck, and swiftly kissed his lips. She skillfully pried open his teeth and began a passionate and lingering kiss.
At this moment, Jiang Cheng's mind was like a DVD player that had been paused, completely unable to react, frozen in place without making much of a response. On the contrary, Zhao Xuerou, even without receiving a response from Jiang Cheng, still forcefully enveloped the man in front of her with tenderness, until she possessed him completely.
Lingering and tentative touches quickly ignited their passion, and when they were both almost out of breath, Jiang Cheng finally pushed away the woman with flushed cheeks.
"call……"
He took a deep breath of fresh air, which finally calmed his dazed mind.
Looking closely at the familiar face in front of him, Jiang Cheng couldn't help but feel a surge of memories.
He was once deeply in love with the woman in front of him and pursued her relentlessly for an unknown period of time.
But later, this one-sided relationship still broke down. There were many reasons, and upon reflection, Jiang Cheng didn't even know where to begin.
Zhao Xuerou had always been the white moonlight in his heart, until the relationship ended, and then she was nothing to him anymore.
During high school, Jiang Cheng secretly kept Zhao Xuerou's photos, even printing them out and tucking them into his books. He kept them hidden at the top of his bookshelf, unwilling to share them with anyone, just as he had always kept Zhao Xuerou in the deepest corner of his heart.
Jiang Cheng would listen to the songs she liked and try his best to memorize every lyric, hoping to have a chance to chat with her and have something in common. He would also learn about everything about her idols—their birthdays, support colors, endorsed products… things that guys don't usually do, he paid attention to. He would try anything that interested her, even if it meant getting hurt.
In fact, his feelings for Zhao Xuerou were far more genuine than he outwardly displayed; he simply had never seriously expressed them.
He had long since buried these feelings deep in his heart.
But when faced with Zhao Xuerou, who was so different from before, all these emotions were reignited.
It was as if a tiny person, wielding a small silver shovel, had secretly slipped into a long-sealed corner of Jiang Cheng's heart as they spent each day together, slowly and meticulously digging up the buried emotions. And then, in that kiss just now, the tiny person finally unearthed everything, presenting it to Jiang Cheng like a precious treasure.
"Look! These are the things you once cherished but now refuse to face."
The little figure proudly waved the precious memories in front of Jiang Cheng, saying, "No matter how much you want to ignore all of this, I will still dig it up and give it back to you, because it really happened, and you can never forget it."
The little boy's face was filled with pride.
He didn't care whether Jiang Cheng wanted to keep this memory or not.
Facing those bright, beautiful eyes across from him, Jiang Cheng lowered his head in distress. Hearing the woman's rapid breathing in the darkness, he spoke for the first time in a long while.
"I...I must have done a lot of things to hurt you before, right?"
Zhao Xuerou froze, a hint of panic flashing in her eyes.
She didn't know why Jiang Cheng would suddenly bring up such a thing, nor did she know how to respond to his question.
